Perform?

Ace’s face instantly crumbled upon hearing this.

Sora had so many ideas. Every moment, she seemed to come up with a new one.

He carefully calculated the talents of the several Beast Husbands and felt that he was the least advantaged among them.

When it came to singing, who could possibly beat that fish?

Everyone knew that a Mermaid’s voice could enchant hearts. Once Ryan started singing, there would be no room for the rest of them.

Needless to mention dancing.

Lucas, that proud phoenix, only needed to drag his long tail, make a few graceful movements, and fan out his plumage to stun everyone.

Ace couldn’t compete with that either.

Besides, he didn’t know how to dance.

What remained were personal talent displays.

Although his cooking had been decent lately, he knew very well in his heart that he was still far behind Lukan.

Perhaps only he and Xavier lacked any real talents here.

But that snake might even know some sort of snake dance.

Thinking of this, Ace immediately objected.

"No, I don’t agree."

"I think it’s quite good."

Two different voices spoke at the same time.

Hearing about the competition, Ryan’s eyes lit up, and his face filled with joy.

He was best at singing.

And Sora would surely love his voice.

The two contrasting voices sounding simultaneously made Sora realize once again that there was disagreement over her suggestion.

This was the Ninth time Ace had disagreed.

Sora couldn’t help but glance at him.

"What is it now?"

Ace pointed at Ryan.

"If he sings, what chance do the rest of us have?"

Sora was stunned.

She hadn’t considered that.

A Merman’s singing really was far beyond that of ordinary people. It was said to be capable of enchanting the heart.

She hadn’t heard it before and really wanted to try it if given the chance.

However, it was indeed inappropriate right now.

Ryan’s advantage was simply too obvious.

Hearing this, Sora couldn’t help but feel a little disappointed.

She had thought she would get to see a scene of male competition, with all of them desperately trying to perform in front of her.

In the end...

"You don’t agree to a talent show, so give me a useful suggestion instead. All I’ve heard from you this whole time is, ’I don’t agree.’"

Sora’s tone carried a hint of displeasure.

Lukan pondered for a moment before saying,

"How about we draw lots? We’ll make the bamboo sticks ourselves. Whichever bamboo stick Sora pulls, that person will be the first for the Night Watch."

This suggestion immediately gained the approval of several people.

If they made the bamboo sticks themselves, then whoever was chosen by Sora would have earned that position fairly.

Furthermore, since the bamboo sticks weren’t made by Sora herself, it guaranteed absolute fairness.

Ace immediately nodded in agreement.

"I’m fine with that."

He had voiced too many objections already.

If he continued, he feared Sora would think he was deliberately being difficult.

Upon hearing Lukan’s reasonable suggestion, he immediately nodded his consent.

Seeing that this troublemaker had finally agreed, Sora couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

She then looked at the others.

"Ace thinks it’s okay. What about the rest of you?"

Lucas felt that it was a pity they had abandoned the talent-show suggestion.

He had been confident that his dancing would make Sora choose him.

However, this method wasn’t bad either.

He nodded without objection.

"I can do that."

Xavier thought about it carefully and felt this was the best method for now.

He immediately agreed.

"Let’s do it that way!"

Ryan didn’t have much of an objection either.

He said coolly,

"I can also do that."

It wasn’t easy, but finally, everyone’s agreement was secured.

Sora couldn’t help but feel a little more fond of Lukan.

He always managed to help her solve problems at just the right moment.

"Since everyone has no objection to this method, let’s proceed with it!"

Saying this, she held up the bamboo sticks she had already made and showed them to everyone.

"To make them easy to distinguish, I drew them according to your respective appearances. You should follow this length and size as well."

Hearing this, the several men nodded.

Then they vanished from the spot almost instantly.

Before Sora could even recover from her surprise, she heard a sharp crack coming from the nearby bamboo forest.

Sora shook her head.

These people were truly fast.

Just as she was about to find a chair to sit on, Damien, hanging upside down from a tree, poked his head out.

"What about me? Kaelira, what’s the arrangement for me?"

Damien’s handsome face suddenly appeared directly before Sora’s eyes, giving her quite a fright.

She clutched her chest and took a long time to calm herself.

However, she didn’t calm down much.

Damien’s enlarged handsome features flashing before her eyes had delivered a sudden critical hit of beauty, and her heart began to race.

It was true that Damien was restless.

But his looks were also the real deal.

"Kaelira?"

Seeing that she hadn’t moved for a long while, Damien blinked and called her name again.

Sora finally managed to snap out of it.

A hint of awkwardness flashed through her eyes.

She secretly scolded herself.

Sora, you’re so useless. You were almost enchanted by good looks.

She coughed lightly before saying,

"This Night Watch is something only a Beast Husband can do. Damien, you..."

Sora hesitated.

Although she didn’t finish her sentence, Damien understood perfectly.

"That line again."

Damien looked at Sora seriously, his eyes filled with sincerity.

"Kaelira, as long as you want, I can form a totem bond with you at any time."

The two of them were going in circles with their words.

There was nothing new about the conversation, and Sora felt as though she was going to throw up from repeating herself.

Even so, she still had to bring up what she had told him before.

"Damien, I think I still need to observe your performance."

She had no choice.

Who told her she was stuck in this situation?

As long as she didn’t know whether Damien was her capture target, she couldn’t make a clear choice.

Every time Sora faced Damien, she felt as though the system was doing this deliberately.

This hot potato was something she couldn’t pick up, yet she couldn’t put down either.

"Kaelira, I’ve heard those words many times."

Damien continued pressing her.

"I’ve done so much these past few days. Don’t you think my performance is enough?"

Sora gave a dry laugh internally.

She was preparing to shamelessly tell him that she still needed to see more.

But Damien cut her off.

"There’s no time limit for the ’performance’ you mentioned. I don’t even know when I’ll be able to satisfy you."

After saying that, he added suspiciously,

"Kaelira, you wouldn’t happen to not want me to be your Beast Husband, would you?"

He paused before continuing.

"I’m your childhood engagement. If you ignore me, I’ll have no choice but to tell Auntie Black Bear about this."

The perfunctory words that had been about to slip out of Sora’s mouth were immediately swallowed back.

Her heart skipped a beat upon hearing Damien’s words.

If Damien really told the Black Bear Foster Mother, there would truly be no room for maneuver.

She might be forced to form a contract totem with him.

And when she remembered the series of things she had done before—all under the banner of "Black Bear Foster Mother taught me this"—Sora felt a chill run through her.

If the Original Owner’s Black Bear Foster Mother actually showed up, wouldn’t all her previous actions be exposed?

Sora suddenly felt that this tattle tale was hotter than fire.

Considering Damien’s unique situation, she couldn’t simply drive him away.

Yet she couldn’t fully involve herself in an intimate relationship with him either.

Otherwise, one wrong step could lead to many more.

Crisis.
