Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 210: A Day With Baby Lulu
Angel dropped her wife off at the bookstore, and today would be the first time she spent an entire day looking after Baby Lulu on her own. Their little girl was strapped securely into her car seat in the back, watching her mommies kiss goodbye with wide, curious eyes.
"Okay, pick me up by five. Don’t be late, alright? Take good care of Lulu..." April reminded her the moment she pulled away from her wife’s lips. Before stepping away from the car, she turned towards the backseat and blew her daughter a kiss.
"Okay, bebe. See you by five. I love you..." Angel replied with a smile as she started the engine.
"I love you too, and you too, my little Angel..." April called out, blowing another kiss towards Lulu before stepping back to let them leave.
Angel drove away with a smile, catching one last glimpse of her wife waving goodbye through the rear-view mirror. Although April now knew how to drive, she still preferred having Angel take her everywhere like her personal chauffeur. Fortunately for her, Angel enjoyed the arrangement just as much. She loved driving her wife to work, picking her up afterwards, and taking her wherever she wanted to go.
However, today was different. With April at work and the entire day ahead of her, she could finally spend some quality time with their daughter without having to worry about anything else.
Angel glanced at the rear-view mirror, smiling at the little girl sitting quietly in her car seat.
"It’s me and you, Lucy May. What are we going to do today?" she muttered.
Lulu stared back at her without offering an answer, her little face as innocent as ever.
Angel initially considered driving to the Del Rosario mansion to spend the day with her family, but before she could make up her mind, a message from her friends arrived. After reading it, she changed her plans and headed towards the twins’ house instead.
She had no idea how much fun awaited her there.
During her visit, Angel got to see some of the activities the twins regularly enjoyed with their little boy, Little Angel. Watching the couple play with their son gave her a few ideas, and before long, she had joined in with Lulu.
The living room soon became a playground as the two babies were placed on the floor for a crawling race.
Little Angel and Lulu raced across the room on their hands and knees while their parents cheered them on. Angel and the twins even began placing bets on which baby would reach the finish line first, laughing whenever one of the little competitors changed direction or stopped to investigate something along the way.
Lulu seemed to enjoy herself regardless of whether she won or lost. Whenever Angel called out to encourage her, she turned towards her mother with an excited expression before continuing her little adventure across the floor.
After the race, the adults decided to make things more interesting by encouraging the babies to practise climbing.
Angel watched closely as Little Angel made his way up the low climbing structure, using his hands and feet to pull himself higher. Lulu tried to follow, but she was noticeably slower, struggling to find the right places to hold on.
At first, Angel assumed her daughter was simply tired from all the crawling. However, as she watched her struggle, something else caught her attention.
Lulu seemed to have difficulty identifying objects placed farther away. Whenever Angel held something close to her, she could see it without much trouble. Yet when the same object was moved farther away, she narrowed her eyes and struggled to make it out.
Angel had noticed this on several occasions over the past few days, and seeing it happen again made her uneasy.
Lucy May was already ten months old, and Angel had begun noticing that her daughter could easily recognise things up close but seemed to struggle with objects at a distance. She watched carefully, trying to determine whether she was imagining the problem or whether something was genuinely wrong.
She did not want to jump to conclusions, but she could not ignore what she had observed either.
For the moment, she put her worries aside and returned her attention to the babies.
After their little competition, Angel took Lulu to the twins’ swimming pool to introduce her to some basic swimming movements. She stayed close throughout the activity, supporting her daughter’s little body in the water and making sure she was comfortable.
Lulu absolutely loved it.
Every time Angel splashed water towards her, the baby burst into giggles, kicking her tiny legs and waving her hands excitedly. Her laughter filled the poolside, making Angel laugh along with her.
"Oh, you love this, don’t you, my little me?" Angel cooed, giving her another gentle splash.
Lulu responded with a fresh round of giggles, looking as though she would happily spend the entire day playing in the water.
Angel was more than happy to oblige. Between the crawling race, the climbing activities, and their swimming session, the hours passed much faster than she had expected.
Unfortunately, she became so caught up in entertaining her daughter that she completely forgot about something rather important.
Her wife.
It was only when Angel finally checked her phone that she realised it was already past six in the evening.
"Holy shit!" she exclaimed, staring at the screen in disbelief.
She was supposed to pick April up at five.
Angel immediately began gathering their belongings, packing Lulu’s things and making sure everything was ready before hurrying out of the house. She could already imagine the look April would give her when she realised what had happened.
Just as she was about to leave, a message from April appeared on her phone.
Her wife was already home.
Angel stared at the message, feeling a mixture of guilt and embarrassment. She had been so busy playing with their daughter that she had forgotten the one promise April had specifically asked her to keep.
With Lulu safely secured in her car seat, Angel drove home, eager to see her wife and apologise for keeping her waiting.
By the time she arrived, April was already there. The moment Angel walked through the door, her wife gave her a look before slowly shaking her head.
Angel did not even need to ask what was wrong. April had known all along that this might happen. Whenever Angel had their daughter to herself, she became so absorbed in looking after her that everything else seemed to slip her mind. Apparently, that included remembering to pick up her own wife.
"Maybe I should get a car from now on, so you two can have quality time together without having to keep tabs on me..." April remarked during dinner.
Angel looked up, momentarily pausing from feeding Lulu, who was comfortably seated in her high chair.
"I love driving you to work..." she replied, sounding genuinely disappointed by the suggestion.
April understood that her wife enjoyed taking her places, and she was not trying to take that pleasure away from her. However, she also wanted the freedom to make her own way home instead of having to depend on Angel’s schedule, especially when their daughter could easily distract her.
"I know. You can drive me to work, but I’ll drive home..." April suggested, trying to reason with her wife.
Angel clearly disliked the arrangement. The thought of April driving herself home when she could easily go and pick her up was not particularly appealing. Nevertheless, she eventually gave in, knowing that her wife had a point.
"Alright, but you have to let me buy you the car. Which model do you want?"
April smiled, pleased that her wife had agreed without turning the discussion into another argument.
"Surprise me, Papi..."
With that settled, they continued their dinner. April finished eating around the same time Lulu was done with her food, leaving Angel to tidy up the kitchen while she took their daughter to get ready for bed.
Once everything was clean, Angel made her way to the bedroom, where she found April sitting comfortably beside Lulu’s crib, reading their daughter a bedtime story.
The little girl had no idea what the words meant, but she seemed fascinated by her mother’s voice and the way her lips moved as she read. Her wide eyes remained fixed on April’s face, following every movement as though she were trying to understand the story through her expressions alone.
Angel stood quietly at the doorway, watching them with a fond smile.
April continued reading, turning the pages at a relaxed pace as Lulu gradually grew sleepier. The baby’s eyelids began to droop, and her attention wandered while the familiar sound of her mother’s voice lulled her towards sleep.
Before long, Lucy May had fallen asleep inside her crib.
