Falling For My Alpha Stepsister (GL)
Chapter 211: Lucy May Is Getting Glasses.
It wasn’t just Angel who had noticed their daughter’s difficulty seeing clearly. April had also become concerned, especially whenever Lucy May tried to focus on something in the distance. She could see things up close, but whenever something caught her attention farther away, she would narrow her eyes as though struggling to make it out.
After noticing the problem for some time, the two mothers decided to take their baby girl to an ophthalmologist. Neither wanted to ignore something that might affect their little Angel, so they arranged for her to have a proper eye examination.
The doctor ran several tests before explaining the results. It turned out that Lucy May had inherited her mother April’s short-sightedness.
Their baby girl was going to need glasses.
Although the doctor explained the situation, April struggled to hide her uneasiness. Having lived with short-sightedness for years, she knew what it was like to have difficulty seeing things from afar. The thought of her daughter experiencing similar struggles weighed heavily on her mind, bringing back memories she would have preferred to forget.
Later that night, Baby Lulu slept peacefully between her parents, completely unaware of her mother’s worries. Angel, however, had noticed how quiet April had been since their hospital visit. She had tried to carry on with her day as usual, but her sadness was difficult to miss.
Lying beside her, Angel reached out and gently brushed her fingers through her wife’s hair. Seeing April so troubled made her uncomfortable, especially when she knew how much the diagnosis had affected her.
"Hey, it’s fine. She’s going to be fine, so don’t think too much about it," Angel reassured her softly.
"Are you angry?" April murmured, keeping her gaze on their sleeping daughter.
Angel turned towards her, puzzled by the question.
"Why should I be angry?"
"Our daughter isn’t going to see properly, just like me. She’s going to struggle just like I did."
"Come on, bebe. She’s a strong girl, and she’s going to wear glasses so she can see properly. It’s not a big deal, okay? Please don’t fill your head with negative thoughts. Being short-sighted isn’t something we need to worry about, and I’m not angry. I love her regardless of anything."
Angel spoke with confidence, hoping to ease her wife’s concerns. As far as she was concerned, Lucy May was still the same precious little girl she had always loved, and needing glasses wasn’t going to change that.
April fell silent, looking down at their daughter before asking the question that had been troubling her.
"Do you think she’s going to get bullied?"
"She’s not. She’s an Alpha, and even if she were an Omega, nobody in their fucking right mind would dare bully our child."
"You and a lot of other people did," April replied quietly.
Angel immediately fell silent.
April wasn’t trying to start an argument, but her words brought back memories of their past. There had been a time when Angel mocked her, called her names, and made her feel terrible about herself. Back then, Angel hadn’t liked April and had never considered how deeply her behaviour might hurt her.
Now, the thought of their daughter facing similar treatment was enough to make April worry about what awaited her as she grew up.
Angel couldn’t deny her past mistakes. No matter how much their relationship had changed, she knew that loving April now couldn’t erase the pain she had caused her before.
"April, I know I can’t erase the things I did to you back then, no matter how much I regret them. But I swear I never did those things because of your appearance, and I’m truly sorry for hurting you. Just know that I’ll do everything I can to protect our little Angel. Nobody is going to bully her while I’m around."
April reached for her wife’s hand and held it gently between her own.
"I’m not mad at you anymore, Angel. If I were, I wouldn’t have married you. I was only giving you an example," she explained. "We can’t be there to protect her every single moment of her life, and I know that. I just really hope she doesn’t have to go through the same things I did because of me."
"Come on, bebe. It’s not your fault, so stop blaming yourself."
Angel moved closer and carefully wrapped an arm around her wife, making sure not to disturb the baby sleeping between them. She understood April’s fears, but she couldn’t bear the thought of her blaming herself for something neither of them could control.
"She’s a little version of us. She has my hair and my dimples, your beautiful eyes, and even the shape of your nose. Just look at how pointy it is! She’s our perfect little daughter, and there’s absolutely nothing about her that I would want to change."
Angel glanced at Lucy May with a fond smile. Their daughter had inherited features from both of them, and she loved recognising those little similarities. Every time she looked at the baby, she was reminded of how much love had brought their family together.
Gently stroking April’s hair, she continued reassuring her.
"I love her regardless of anything, and I love you a thousand times more than you can imagine. It has nothing to do with appearances or whether someone is an Alpha or an Omega. What matters to me is the heart, and you have the most beautiful one. So please, don’t blame yourself for something that isn’t your fault."
April listened quietly, letting her wife’s words sink in. Her worries hadn’t disappeared completely, but Angel’s reassurance helped her feel less alone. She knew they would both be there for Lucy May, yet she couldn’t help wishing she could spare their daughter from the painful experiences she had endured herself.
Angel hated seeing April blame herself. She wanted her to understand that Lucy May didn’t have to be perfect to deserve love, nor did she need to see the world the way everyone else did to live a happy life.
Hoping to help her wife relax, Angel continued stroking her hair and gently patting her until her eyes began to grow heavy. Eventually, April settled against her and drifted off to sleep.
Angel remained awake for a little longer, watching her wife and daughter rest beside her. Lucy May was nestled comfortably between them, while April slept with her head close to Angel’s shoulder.
A feeling of gratitude settled over Angel as she looked at the two people who meant the most to her. She knew there would be challenges they couldn’t prevent, but she was determined to give their daughter all the love and support she needed to face them.
With that thought in mind, Angel finally closed her eyes.
The following morning, April was feeling better. Although she still had concerns about Lucy May’s future, she decided to focus on what they could do for their daughter rather than dwell on what might go wrong. The little girl would get the glasses she needed, and her mothers would help her adjust to them.
There was no reason to let fear take away the happiness they shared, especially when Lucy May was still the same cheerful baby who brought so much joy into their lives.
April got out of bed and prepared breakfast for her little family, determined to start the day on a positive note. By the time they settled into their morning routine, she was feeling more like herself again.
Later that day, Angel surprised her girl with a brand-new Porsche.
April was stunned when she saw the car. Her eyes widened before her face broke into an excited smile. She loved the gift and appreciated the effort her wife had put into making her happy.
After the previous day’s worries, the unexpected surprise lifted April’s spirits. She was grateful to have a wife who knew how to make her feel loved, even when things weren’t going as smoothly as she had hoped.
