Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 714 - 340: The Sun Will Rise Again (End of Volume)
The elder’s eyes were slightly closed. His robe and beard stopped fluttering, settling into a state of gently floating in the air. In the massive spherical space centered around him, there was neither wind nor rain, and even the air could no longer penetrate.
The surging seawater beneath his feet was forcibly sliced into arc-shaped cracks. The Celestial Technique Venerable stood like an ancient, unmoving reef, indifferent to the mighty winds and waves!
"As long as I, Qu Zhou, am in the world, within the Five Continents, the Evil God shall not come near!"
The elder roared aloud over the sea. His tattered white robe remained unstained by dust, yet inexplicably darkened to ink-black, as if a deep, dark glow emerged from beneath his garments.
Chen Fan watched as his master’s figure became increasingly blurred in the collapsing space, unknowingly shedding tears.
"Heart like a bright moon without a wisp of cloud, illuminating the world’s darkness."
He recalled the inscribed stone tablet at the entrance of his master’s dilapidated dwelling, realizing now it was his master’s farewell poem.
...
You Su sat down among the piles of stones, panting heavily. In the firelight, each breath seemed like pitch-black smoke.
Countless evil creatures crawled at his feet, and this pile of broken rocks was like his throne.
He slowly raised his head. Amid the disheveled strands of hair, his ink-black eyes glimmered, with an added tinge of crimson outside the ghostly green fluorescence.
In front of him, the entanglement of the two giant serpents reached its final battle.
The ancient serpent, even amid the prison’s constraints, showed no sign of weakness. After all, it was the Snake God, surviving since ancient times; its repressed ambition of thousands of years became its source of endless power.
The massive mouth of the serpent opened wide, intent on devouring the white snake whole.
Even though Ji Xueruo had awakened her Dragon Blood, she still fell short compared to such an ancient creature. She twisted and struggled, roaring with rage, but her slender serpent body was steadily restrained inch by inch by the ancient serpent, gradually losing strength.
You Su stood heavy-footed, the massive stone beneath him easily crushed. Having slain so many evil creatures related to flesh and blood, the returned power of flesh and blood made his body almost explode.
He could sense that one of the three greatest sinners was nearby, but before meeting him, he had something more important to do.
The Mo Song Sword flew swiftly from nowhere, landing steadily in his hand.
The white snake thrashed violently but could not escape the fate of being devoured by the black serpent.
The part of her body outside became increasingly short, while You Su’s steps grew quicker.
The swirling thunder and wind seemed to roll beneath You Su’s feet, the boundless momentum gathered at the tip of the Mo Song Sword. The ancient Snake God, engrossed in its feast, finally turned its gaze towards him, as this immortal island now had a second presence worthy of its attention.
You Su locked eyes with those onyx-like serpent pupils, momentarily losing himself.
In that split second, You Su seemed to hear a voice from the depths of his soul.
The male voice sounded close to his ear, yet as if from a distant place.
"You have your own path to walk, as does she."
You Su always remembered a person’s voice and scent well. He was certain he had heard this voice before; he just couldn’t recall who it belonged to for the moment.
Until he saw the tall man who stood beside him unnoticed, he remembered it was that mysterious, scarred man.
And at the moment of his distraction, the ancient serpent was about to close its bloodthirsty maw, leaving only a slender, white serpentine tail dangling from its lips.
Of course, You Su couldn’t remain indifferent, but the scarred man spoke again to stall him, just as when he had recently encountered the possessed Huang Xi, feeling a sense of frustrated impotence despite having immense strength.
"Young man, don’t always think about rescuing others. Enabling self-rescue is the true path of redemption."
The scarred man advised earnestly: "You said you wanted to save those trapped in the island’s center, so you spread the True Lord’s blood among the evil puppets. Yet, dangers will always come to them incessantly, and there will be times when you cannot protect them all. The true salvation was when they saved themselves by not coveting your protection but leaving in time, thus managing to return to the mainland before the Celestial Technique Venerable severed the sea."
He exemplified his point, not using particularly novel rhetoric yet possessing an undeniable thought-provoking power.
"You’ve done what you were supposed to do; what remains is to believe in her, isn’t that so?" The scarred man watched the last of the white serpent tail disappear, his face betraying no concern.
"She isn’t the kind of woman who wishes to live under your protection forever, right?"
This last remark from the scarred man utterly dispirited You Su. He watched the ancient serpent break free from the iron chains, with no longer such intense murderous intent in his eyes.
"Trying to rescue everything on your own is very tiring." The scarred man patted You Su’s shoulder kindly, as familiar as an old acquaintance reuniting.
"Are you Zhengyang the True Immortal?" You Su vaguely guessed.
"My identity is too numerous to count..." the scarred man laughed.
You Su fell silent and continued to watch the towering giant serpent.
"It comes for you." The scarred man’s laughter faded.
"Then it should come directly for me, not rush towards the shore," You Su replied.
"Here is a place where even ’gods’ cannot spy," the scarred man reminded.
You Su suddenly realized that the Master of Flesh and Blood believed he once appeared on the coast of the South Sea, hence emerging from the unknowable sea?
But he was right under Its nose; perhaps this scarred man had the ability to cover the sky?
