Fairy, Don't Be Afraid, I Am Blind
Chapter 713 340: The Sun Will Rise Again (End of Volume)
When Chen Fan first heard the old man call himself the Celestial Technique Venerable, it was at the entrance of a dilapidated tavern.
At that time, he was facing the abyss of life and sneered at the old man trying to take him as a disciple, thinking that someone was blatantly deceiving at the tavern entrance, because drunk people would believe anything.
"Old man, leave, your title is too frightening, it might even wake the drunkards."
Even though he knew the person in front of him was likely a fraud, in his distress, he still kindly reminded him.
The old man was first surprised, stunned for a moment, as if realizing Chen Fan mistook him for a charlatan, then he did not explain but said, earnestly and meaningfully:
"Young man, kindness to bad people will only turn into a blade that stabs oneself..."
It was this simple yet thought-provoking sigh that made Chen Fan feel that this frail old man instantly became otherworldly and ethereal.
When he truly entered the old man's tutelage to begin learning, only then did he realize how shallow and ignorant he was at the time.
The old man's real name perhaps even he himself had forgotten, never mentioned by anyone, but the honorable title of Celestial Technique Venerable placed on the old man was by no means exaggerated; on the contrary, the words 'Celestial Technique' couldn't begin to encapsulate his mastery in the path of Skill. He seemed to have been born for it.
No one existed who could stand on equal footing with him in the path of Skill. Even the combined contributions of everyone in the current world could not be compared to his; his title shone as brilliantly as those glorious names in the history books of the path of Skill.
Almost all of the books related to Skill commonly circulating had the shadow of Celestial Technique Venerable's involvement; the few foundational theories he proposed became golden words of wisdom for all practitioners of Skill today.
Chen Fan would secretly begin to gradually 'stray from the norm' in his skill practice, partly because he was growing tired of the conventional process and sought breakthrough. Another equally important reason was his understanding that surpassing his master on this five-thousand-year journey was absolutely impossible.
Thus, he kept his attempts that went against ancestral teachings secret from the head elder, not wanting his master to discover he was practicing forbidden things, and even more not wanting his master to know about his ambition to surpass him.
Yet he was also the most obedient and reliable disciple to the head elder because he understood better than anyone else that this was the best teacher in the world. He sincerely wished to serve his master with a broom for life.
But only a few days ago did he realize through a conversation that his master knew everything. However, his master was not angry at his disciple's ambition; on the contrary, there was more hope and affirmation.
Chen Fan was very moved by this and secretly resolved to succeed, as to not disappoint his master's expectations.
Yet today, he finally understood that his master's expectations were destined to be in vain because attempting an alternate path to surpass this old man was also absolutely impossible.
The Celestial Skill Summit becoming the foremost peak of Skill in the Five Continents was not because of him, Chen Fan, or the other twenty extraordinary disciples. It was because of their Peak Master, the Celestial Technique Venerable, who was an inevitable name on the path to the ultimate Skill.
The old man remained in the sky, spreading his arms wide, and with his own body blocked the tide of evil that emerged in full force.
The evil spirits could not touch the Divine Radiance Stone, but those attached to the giant manta would leap over the defensive lines painstakingly set by humans. Those who thought hiding behind the Divine Radiance Stone would make them forever safe were terrified when they saw this, realizing nothing could stop their advance.
But they seemed to forget that before the Divine Radiance Stone existed, it was the self-sacrificial cultivators who held the evil at bay overseas, until the Celestial Technique Venerable stood before everyone.
Sand steamed, stones burned, clouds ignited. Boiling waves and fiery tides scorched the bright moon.
The near coastline of the entire South Sea became the chessboard on which the old man and the Master of Flesh and Blood contended. The tide of evil surged up with the cold seawater from the deep sea, bringing with it countless white-bellied dead fish. Yet the rain falling from the sky was scalding like molten lava, seemingly to burn away these impurities, the evilest filth of the world.
The massive heart pulsed like thunder, and the roars of the evil tides reached into the very depths of one's soul.
Yet the Celestial Technique Venerable did not retreat a step; his hand gestures fluttered, producing residual shadows, as an enormous starry array appeared abruptly at his feet, with him as the North Star amid the surrounding stars!
Obscure incantations sounded like the Brahmanic chants decreed by the Heavenly Dao. As the stars rotated by a degree, the entire space was cut and then twisted by the Skill of the Celestial Technique Venerable.
The forms of the evil spirits on the manta ray twisted, becoming increasingly ferocious, as though being unrelentingly sliced by invisible blades. They howled and cried, like ten thousand ghosts wailing, with rotten black blood falling like raindrops.
The throbbing of the Master of Flesh and Blood became more rapid, as if an endless stream of power flowed into those blood vessels, turning the shattered evil into crazier wraiths, charging forward fearless of death.
They even leapt from the high manta ray, attempting to escape the cuts of the Celestial Technique Venerable by jumping, not even daring to engage in direct combat despite their notorious physical prowess.
But how could the Celestial Technique Venerable give them any chance? He stretched both hands evenly, one rotating lightly above his head, the other below his navel, tracing a flawless circle in the air with his fingertips.
