Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress
Chapter 744: Escape
A small spatial passage floated at the center of a certain world cluster, though nobody was aware of its existence. The concealment array perfectly disguised its appearance.
Suddenly, both the array and the tiny black dot shook.
Before anyone could react, a crimson light flashed.
A small figure emerged from the passage, soon expanding and taking the form of a beautiful red-haired woman.
The woman's momentum erupted, causing the surrounding space to tremble as though in fear.
Her power was unfathomable!
Yet if one took a closer look, they would be shocked to discover that her current condition was far from good.
Her face was as pale as a white sheet of paper, while half of her body was missing.
It was as though some bloodthirsty monster had devoured the entire left side of her, leaving her in half a piece.
Muscles and blood constantly regenerated and wove together, trying to help her recover, but a strange power prevented them from healing.
The scene was extremely gruesome.
But strangely, the woman showed neither fear nor pain.
Instead, she stared at the shaking spatial passage, her gaze seemingly able to pass through it and look at the other side.
"Damn it! Didn't I just take a small treasure?"
"Why are you guys so stingy?!"
"It's not like it was yours in the first place!" Liora couldn't help but spit out these words, breathing a sigh of relief when she confirmed that the creatures inside couldn't exit that strange dimension.
She secretly wiped the nonexistent sweat from her forehead.
That was too close...
She had never expected that collecting the lion statue would cause such an intense reaction.
The awakening of the Ancient Devils was fine.
With her strength and the Cosmic Universe as a trump card, there was nothing they could do to stop her from leaving.
But not long after the battle began, several Prince of the Demon World-level beings emerged and cooperated to besiege her.
If Liora had not been fast enough, and if those beings had not just reached that stage and been unable to unleash their full strength, it was very likely that she wouldn't be able to stand intact here today.
Well... intact in a way.
Liora's chest heaved up and down as she took several deep breaths.
Upon regaining her composure, she looked down at herself, paying particular attention to the power preventing her wounds from recovering.
"Am I going to die again?" she joked, but her actions were ruthless.
A silver blade materialized above her head and struck down at her.
Soon, Liora turned into a lifeless corpse, collapsing to the ground and transforming into scattered ashes.
A new version of her walked out from the broken remains.
That new version had not only recovered, but the inexplicable power preventing her recovery had also been used as fuel by the Return to the Origin technique.
"I'm walking further and further down the path of seeking death. Did 'I' specifically give me this technique, knowing that was going to be the case?" Liora wondered.
It made sense.
Judging from the phenomenon of "killing the past self to create a new self," it was obvious that her future self had gone through this scene countless times.
At the very least, enough times to use dying as inspiration to create such a technique.
Suppressing these inexplicable thoughts, Liora shifted her focus back to the present.
She waved her hands, engraving several more arrays to conceal the Dimensional Gate.
Then, she took a few steps to the side and began painting another, far vaster array.
Unlike the ones concealing the spatial passage, this one was far more complicated.
World-Descending Array!
Or rather, its reverse-summoning version, which could lead a Devil back to the Demon World.
"I've only traveled for such a short amount of time and already faced such danger."
"There is no reason to seek death any longer," Liora whispered while completing the array.
With her strength, wandering in the Origin Sea was indeed quite safe, and she would be able to return to the Demon World if she wanted.
Liora originally wanted to continue doing so, using this as an opportunity to expand her horizons and perhaps find a few more treasures.
She had already achieved her first goal.
But the second was unlikely to be completed.
Anything valuable in the Origin Sea was accompanied by danger, as evidenced by this strange dimension.
Since that was the case, traveling back on her own would be a waste of time.
Rather than doing that, it would be better to return to the Demon World through the array.
While she was thinking, Liora's movements did not pause.
Strands of demonic energy and unknown materials surged, blending into the World-Descending Array bit by bit.
The array she engraved now was countless times more complicated than what she had used in the past.
After all, the difficulty of teleporting an Ancient Devil was obviously far greater than the difficulty of teleporting a Lesser Devil.
Even so, Liora was familiar with the process.
Only half an hour later, an enormous crimson array floated in the Origin Sea.
Liora walked to its center and gently touched down with her fingers.
Immediately, demonic energy began pouring into this structure.
A terrifying fluctuation was emitted.
A crimson light erupted from its edges, engulfing both Liora and the array as a whole.
The light did not last for long.
Only a few seconds later, it faded away.
With its disappearance, the area beneath it was also revealed.
Both the array and Liora were nowhere to be seen.
The former had been directly destroyed, exhausting its energy.
The latter... was being teleported away.
--
Having reached Liora's level of power and with her knowledge of the power of space, she could keenly sense how the World-Descending Array operated.
Sensing her body being broken down into its smallest particles and then driven through the Origin Sea via a wormhole-like structure, Liora's eyes shone brightly.
She had a hunch that she would also be able to do something similar if she studied this process properly and her control over space reached a sufficient level.
Unfortunately, Liora wasn't given the time to study the World-Descending Array.
Suddenly, a clicking sound echoed in her mind.
She felt her body being reconstructed.
Then, she was "spat out" of the wormhole.
A peculiar yet familiar world structure entered her sight upon her landing.
As though in response, her demonic energy and bloodline surged, cheering in excitement.
