Chapter 743: Statue & Attracting Enemies

Liora casually waved her hands, clearing the fresh blood from her skin.

Glancing at the mountain of Chaos Beast corpses from the corner of her eye, she lightly shook her head.

"Sure enough, fighting creatures like these is far better than fighting intelligent opponents."

"If they weren't so brainless and had escaped instead of rushing forward recklessly, a few of them might have succeeded in fleeing."

She didn't collect the corpse.

Although Liora's mind was full of thoughts, she knew she couldn't waste any time.

From the moment she entered this dimension, she had a feeling that she wouldn't be able to stay there for long.

If she did, her life would likely be in danger.

Exactly because of that, whether she was following the Chaos Beast's traces into this dimension or killing its companions, she had acted quickly and decisively.

Now, she planned to do the same.

Without the slightest pause, she began walking toward the center of the island.

She already knew that whatever she was searching for was there.

The reactions of the Chaos Beasts during the fight had already betrayed this.

These mindless creatures had previously protected that place and repeatedly moved their battlefield elsewhere, as though they were trying to hide their treasure from a thief.

As such, Liora knew the way.

It didn't take long.

Only a couple of seconds later, the item these Chaos Beasts were protecting entered Liora's view.

It was a gray statue.

Barely the size of a human palm, it looked like an ordinary ornament one might find in a luxurious room, placed on top of a piece of wooden furniture.

Anyone who saw it would subconsciously ignore it.

Yet Liora would not make such a mistake.

From her point of view, dense gray particles constantly emerged from the statue's surface and spread around it, blending into the surrounding land and seeping into the island.

Now that she saw them, she could tell that the entire island had been formed based on those gray particles.

More importantly, those particles somewhat resembled the flames of the Chaos Beasts she had killed.

Liora didn't extend her consciousness to inspect it.

Instead, she used her eyes to examine it.

The statue depicted a black lion with three heads, each roaring fiercely toward the sky.

Gray flames surrounded their necks in a ring shape, forming something akin to a mane.

Every strand of its fur seemed to represent a certain concept, while its muscles hid formidable power that would make even Ancient Devils fearful.

Liora did not need any further investigation.

She was certain that this statue was the source behind the Chaos Beasts' changes.

As for what it was, she couldn't be certain just yet.

"Is this an inheritance left behind by another powerful being like the Human Emperor? Or an item that was born naturally within this dimension?"

Liora leaned toward the latter.

From the "Human Emperor's" memories, she knew that the dimensions connected by the Dimensional Gates had only recently been born, meaning they were still in the process of gestation.

That was why there were no worlds inside of them, and their rules were so strange.

In such a state, where its rules were chaotic and the dimension had yet to stabilize, some powerful treasures would inevitably emerge.

Some were consumable items. Others were weapons.

As for the statue in front of her, Liora judged that it was neither.

"This lion seems to represent a certain concept. It could be said to be the embodiment of a certain Law, similar to how the Throne of a Devil is the materialization of the concepts they represent."

That was also why Liora believed this was an item born naturally rather than a piece of inheritance.

She looked thoughtful for several seconds.

In the end, however, she shook her head.

Now was not the time to consider these things.

Rather than wasting time, it was better to consider whether she should collect the statue or simply leave it here.

She did not need to contemplate for long.

Only a split second later, Liora had her answer.

She would, of course, collect it!

If she didn't, wouldn't that mean she had wasted her time coming here?

Without any hesitation, Liora approached the statue, reaching out with her consciousness to envelop it and drag it away.

Originally, she believed she would face some form of resistance from this peculiar item.

Yet the moment Liora controlled it and made it move, the lion statue directly obeyed her command.

With a single motion, it took to the air and rushed toward her, stopping only inches away from her face.

The entire process was simple.

Crunch! Crunch!

Just then, a faint sound reached Liora's ears.

When she looked down at her feet, wanting to find its source, she discovered that it came from the island.

Or rather, it came from the large cracks that had unknowingly spread across its surface.

Those cracks continuously grew larger with each passing second. Black liquid emerged from their gaps, like scars oozing with blood.

Liora knew this was the result of her removing the lion statue.

Just as she had originally suspected, the entire island had been formed under the influence of the statue. Now, having lost its source of energy, this landscape was immediately devoured by the black sea.

Knowing the reason, Liora did not panic.

She directly soared into the sky, taking the statue along with her.

Then, she lowered her gaze and looked at the rapidly retreating island.

Its gray land was soon submerged beneath the black sea, as were the many Chaos Beast corpses scattered across it.

It was as though a gray canvas was being stained by black ink, soon disappearing from existence.

The scene looked eerie but also strangely beautiful.

Unfortunately, Liora soon had no time to admire it.

Several auras suddenly surged from the depths of the dimension.

Although they were on the other end of the dimension, Liora could sense that their owners' gazes pierced through space and landed here.

More accurately, they landed on the place the statue once stood and then moved toward her figure.

Seeing the statue floating in front of her, furious cries rang out.

Several Absolute Beginning Devil auras moved rapidly toward her.

More of them were awakening. Some even surpassing the Ancient Devil stage.
