Chapter 294: Heavenly Devil
Chapter 294: Heavenly Devil
Perhaps because Liora’s strength had improved significantly since the last time, or perhaps because she had gained the ability to wander in the Origin Sea on her own, but this time, the journey was not instantaneous.
Liora could feel herself rushing through the Origin Sea, passing by several worlds along the way, big and small.
The speed of the array far surpassed her own.
In just a second, the World-Descending Array had allowed her to travel distances that would have otherwise taken her months to traverse.
The destination that the array was leading her to was not random.
Right in front of her, a small white light was flickering, seemingly guiding the way.
It was the light that had come out of the Bloodforge Halberd. During her earlier investigation, Liora had long understood its real value.
In fact, the value of the halberd was not actually the weapon itself, but this light.
It was a coordinate. A coordinate to another world.
Moreover, judging from the information accompanying the light, Liora guessed that the world the coordinate was pointing to was not ordinary at all.
It was a world far stronger than the world of Knights, a world that could provide her great help.
No wonder the True Heart Devil was unwilling to let it go. In his opinion, this light was his chance to advance further.
Liora did not stop to think about the reason and way that the Bloodforge Halberd had landed in the world of Knights.
There were many coincidences in the world, and something so inexplicable was actually quite common.
While Liora was deep in thought, the speed of her travels did not slow down. If anything, the invisible force surrounding her increased even further, pushing her forward at full speed.
In just a few minutes, Liora had arrived at her destination. Though she was currently surrounded by the power of the array, she was able to see what was going on outside.
Thus, when the light guiding her fell down and merged into the world below, it instantly caught her attention.
Liora surveyed this world.
Just from its brilliance, she could judge that it was a world stronger than that of the Knights.
“A medium-level world. A world that can contain Greater Devils…”, she muttered, though her attention did not remain on this world for long.
Her eyes wandered to the two lights surrounding the world, one above and one right next to it.
These were not ordinary lights. Each represented another, different world.
And, judging from their brightness and the aura they exuded, it was apparent that they were far stronger than her destination.
Although she was “far” away, Liora sensed a threat coming from both of these worlds. Obviously, there was something there that could threaten her life.
“Two higher-level worlds…”, she whispered these worlds’ true identity.
If a medium-level world could contain Greater Devils, then it was obvious that higher-level worlds were even stronger. In them, Archdevils and Ancient Devils resided.
It was even possible that there would be stronger beings!
As soon as this idea popped up in Liora’s mind, she hastily stopped thinking about it.
She understood that she would instantly die if she met an Archdevil, much less a being beyond that.
“Fortunately, the light is not leading to those two worlds.”
“Otherwise, those people would have sensed my arrival the very moment I descended.”, Liora couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief as she felt the force of the World-Descending Array slowly push her down.
Clearly, since she had reached her destination, the array was no longer willing to wait.
Feeling that force, Liora’s eyes flickered. She hesitated for a brief moment before she finally gritted her teeth, having made a decision.
“There’s no reason to be reluctant. Since I’ve come to this world, I should try to improve my strength as much as possible.”
“I can always obtain Evolution Points later. But the chances of invading a medium-level world without having to sign a Devil Contract are very, very rare!”, Liora thought.
Everything that had happened recently replayed in her mind.
Her escape from the Inferno Valley, her fight against Duke Bloodflower, and the powerlessness she felt when faced with all those inexplicable things and powerful creatures.
Although Liora didn’t say anything and never complained, it was impossible to say that she was happy.
During the Crucible, she had been at the top of the world, and although her strength had been sealed in the world of Knights, she hadn’t suffered at all.
Yet, since her return to the Demon World, she had been running around aimlessly, chased by powerful beings all along.
Originally, she felt that her current strength was enough for her to protect herself. But obviously, she had been wrong.
“Stronger power! I need to become more powerful!”, Liora clenched her fists and, without any hesitation, summoned the System.
Her eyes wandered to the Evolution Points at the bottom as an imperceptible light flickered in her eyes.
The next moment, she opened the Creation Panel, and her mind moved.
Strings of text alternated in her field of vision as several abilities were created and then torn apart, seemingly not matching her expectations.
It was only several tries later that the text settled, finally fitting her ideas.
…
[Heavenly Devil: You can choose to “reset” your soul and reincarnate. Since you’ve been reincarnated, other worlds will not sense your existence and will not treat you as an invader. Your strength will not be sealed, and you will not face the Will of the World’s suppression.]
[Reminder: During the reincarnation, you will lose your memories. The time you awaken them is random.]
[Reminder: By solving “your” obsession, you can improve your strength and elevate your status.]
…
The moment she confirmed its creation, countless amounts of information poured into Liora’s mind.
Unfortunately, she didn’t have the time to digest it.
The force of the World-Descending Array seemed to have become impatient. Surging, it threw her down.
As she approached the world below, Liora activated her new ability.
Instantly, her physical body began to break down. In the end, only her soul remained, flickering like a candle that was about to go out.
In her final moments, an image flashed in Liora’s mind.
In a dark space, a sword was floating in the air, struggling violently.
Its surface was engraved with intricate patterns that conveyed inexplicable information, while its edge shone with a crimson, bloodthirsty light.
Countless chains weaved around it and held it in place, seemingly restricting it from breaking free.
“A prison…”, this was the last thought in Liora’s mind before her consciousness went dark.
