Chapter 295: Blood Devil Sect
Chapter 295: Blood Devil Sect
The Forest of Wailing Souls was a famous landscape in the Northern Lands.
According to the rumors, it was the place where two armies had clashed with each other, leading to the formation of hundreds of ghosts.
The shrill, eerie screams and its cold atmosphere had further reinforced that idea, making the surrounding residents unwilling to ever approach it.
However, what few people knew was that the Forest of Wailing Souls was not without any human activity.
In fact, one of the Northern Lands’ most infamous and feared sects was located here, right at the very center of this haunted forest.
—
Hundreds of teenagers could be seen wandering among the many buildings, staring at their surroundings with apprehension.
An immature light flashed in their eyes, while from their fine clothes and plump figures, it was obvious that their status was extraordinary.
However, the old man at the front did not care about their family’s power. With his hands clasped behind his back, he led the way around the sect.
While walking, he gave a brief history lesson to the teenagers behind him:
“The Blood Devil Sect was established less than twenty years ago. Yet in such a short period of time, it has become one of the world’s strongest sects.”
“Originally, there were many conflicts with the sects around this place.”
“After all, the establishment of a new sect meant that their status would be threatened.”, the old man glanced at the buildings and explained.
“At that time, the sect was not very strong. There were only a few Warriors at the Blood Awakening realm and none at the Blood Refinement realm. But unexpectedly, the Sect Leader displayed the power of a Master.”
“In just a few days, several of the surrounding sects were wiped out, while those that remained became our subordinates.”
Admiration and pride flashed across the old man’s face. From the emotions shown on his face, everyone understood that he was one of these battles’ participants.
The teenagers behind him were quite curious. However, recalling the rumors and the instructions of their parents, they didn’t dare to ask.
Only a young boy among them mustered up the courage to speak up:
“Elder, it’s said that the Sect Leader is extremely talented and one of the strongest Warriors in the world. Is it true?”
The teenager’s question was simple and, in fact, quite stupid, as if it were questioning the Sect Leader.
But the old man did not scold him.
As if he had been waiting for the opportunity to show off, he immediately nodded his head and replied.
“Our Sect Leader is indeed the strongest and most talented. According to the rumors, they reached the Blood Awakening realm at the age of 3 and the Blood Refinement realm at the age of 7.”
“By the time they were 16, the Sect Leader had already become a Master.”, the old man said, and after a brief pause, both in his speech and his body, he continued:
“Now that several years have passed, I’m afraid that the Sect Leader has become even more powerful. Perhaps they are already close to reaching that legendary realm…”
The Elder’s voice grew low by the end. He no longer had the willingness to explain anything to these teenagers, and his footsteps quickened.
After he led them to sign up and get their identification items, the Elder couldn’t help but shake his head.
In his opinion, out of the hundred disciples admitted this time, less than a dozen would remain alive by the end. But he didn’t pay attention.
Subconsciously, his eyes couldn’t help but wander towards the center of the Blood Devil Sect, where a statue had been erected, depicting a beautiful, valiant woman.
“Sect Leader…”, the Elder muttered, as the image of an immensely powerful Warrior emerged in his mind.
—
The back of the Blood Devil Sect was considered a forbidden area, a place restricted to both the disciples and the Elders.
Here, only a single person was allowed entry. The Sect Leader.
And in fact, the Sect Leader was actually here at the moment.
However, if any of the people familiar with her were here, they would realize that some change seemed to have happened.
“Warriors, Blood Devil Sect, Grandmaster, Bloodlines, Ghosts…”, the young-looking woman muttered in a low voice, as the trace of haze in her eyes vanished.
“I originally expected that it would at most take me a few months to awaken my memories. I didn’t expect that it would take so long.”, the woman whispered.
Her words made her identity clear.
She was none other than Liora, who, after casting the Heavenly Devil ability, had reincarnated in this world.
However, though she had expected to lose her memories for some time, she was still surprised by how long it took to awaken.
“I’ve only been born for a couple of years.”
“How could I suddenly become an ancestor-like figure?”, she couldn’t help but wonder, feeling that things were getting out of control.
She had been reincarnated into this world more than two decades ago.
Did that mean… she had actually become an old woman?
After pondering this philosophical question for a little bit, Liora pushed that matter aside.
She would, of course, not care about such things. She cared more about her current state.
Immediately, her focus shifted to her memories, and she quickly digested them, as she at the same time investigated her own body.
A trace of joy flashed in her eyes as a smile appeared on her face.
“The Heavenly Devil ability was worth it… I can sense that there is no suppression from the Will of the World. It treats me like I’m a native person, not restricting me at all.”, she judged.
However, this was only half of the reason why she was so happy. The other half was that she had sensed her current strength.
Originally, she believed that she would have to start all over, just like she had done in the world of Knights. Although her progress would inevitably be faster since she faced no suppression, it would still take her some time.
However, as Liora inspected her strength, she discovered that her current self was not weak at all.
With a thought, her body shook, and her aura rose to the sky, spreading throughout the Forest of Wailing Souls.
The animals in the forest instantly fell to the ground and stared in the direction of the forbidden area, prostrating and howling for mercy.
A similar thing happened to the people in the sect.
Although no one knelt down like the animals, the disciples and Elders felt a hand creeping up their neck and slowly tightening, as if it wanted to choke them.
The hand clenched, and everyone had the same idea: if this continued, they would surely die!
Fortunately, just when people were starting to get desperate, the overwhelming aura suddenly receded.
Everyone slumped to the ground and breathed a sigh of relief, while the person responsible for everything, Liora, grew even happier.
“Grandmaster. Lesser Devil…”
“Moreover, I’m not an ordinary Lesser Devil!”
