Chapter 434: Leaving the Abyss

The dawn of the Abyss rose slowly over the horizon, carrying a unique shade of purple-gray.

Faint light passed through the thick mist and spread a warm glow over the reborn Miko City.

Inside the grand Miko Temple, the atmosphere was solemn, yet it also felt completely renewed. The gloom of the past had been swept away.

Aiden stood with his hands behind his back. His white robes moved even though there was no wind, and a faint pressure of a powerful, almost otherworldly expert surrounded him.

Beside him, Rainn wore the Primordial Miko crown. The weakness she had shown last night was gone. Her eyes were cold and majestic, fully showing the presence of an empress.

"Master, the Strength of the Transmutation Altar is too great. I can feel the Emperor rank bloodline inside me surging wildly."

In the center of the hall, the Demi-Sacred Artifact, the Transmutation Altar, floated in the air. It released countless blue-gold threads of law.

Irene sat cross-legged beneath the Transmutation Altar. Her originally pale face slowly gained a noble rosy color under the nourishment of the Demi-Sacred Artifact.

As the princess of the Crimson Mosquito Clan, her Great Venerable-level bloodline was now going through its most complete recovery with the help of this treasure.

"Stay here and focus on recovering. Once you fully refine the Transmutation Altar, that will be the time for me to sweep through the lower levels of the Abyss."

Aiden looked at Irene. His voice was calm, but it carried an unquestionable dominance.

"Yes, Master. Irene will not let you down!"

Irene opened her eyes. Her beautiful eyes were filled with absolute loyalty and burning devotion.

"Rainn, Miko City has only just been settled, and hidden forces are still moving within the Abyss. You will stay here, command the Miko Army, and guard this stronghold."

Aiden turned to look at Rainn, and there was a trace of gentleness in his eyes that no outsider would have noticed.

"Don’t worry. With the Origin Inheritance in my hands, no one in the lower levels of the Abyss will dare to covet this place anymore."

Rainn’s voice was cold and firm. Now, she had enough Strength to protect her people.

"Aiden... I want to go back to Earth with you."

Just then, a small figure stepped forward, clutching the hem of her battle dress tightly with both hands.

Cheryl bit her soft pink lip. Her bright eyes stared closely at Aiden, filled with stubbornness and a kind of attachment that was hard to explain.

"Cheryl, Earth is not peaceful right now. This trip may be dangerous."

Aiden looked at her and spoke slowly.

"I’m not afraid! And Sister has already agreed. She said I need more experience and can’t always hide under the protection of Miko City."

Cheryl quickly explained. Her delicate face was slightly red, but her eyes were unusually clear.

Rainn looked at her younger sister. A gentle smile flashed through her deep eyes, and she gave Aiden a small nod.

She understood her sister’s feelings. She also knew that following Aiden was the best path for Cheryl.

"Alright. Then come back to Earth with me."

Aiden smiled faintly and no longer refused.

In front of the towering Miko Temple, a huge space passage slowly opened. Silver ripples of spatial law tore through the void like great waves.

Wild spatial turbulence raged around the passage, letting out low growls like a beast.

Rainn stood before the stone steps, staring at the man who had completely changed her fate.

She did not cry, nor did she show any weak, girlish softness.

Step by step, she walked up to Aiden. A firm smile bloomed on her stunning face.

The next moment, without any warning, she threw herself into Aiden’s arms and held him tightly with all her strength.

"Wait for me to come back."

Rainn’s whisper sounded beside Aiden’s ear. It was soft, but it carried the weight of a mountain.

Aiden gently patted her back. A rare softness flashed through his deep black eyes.

"Wait for me."

Then he let go of her. With a wave of his long sleeve, Aiden stored the Demi-Sacred Artifact, the Transmutation Altar, into his system space. After that, he took Cheryl’s hand and stepped into the silver space vortex.

Behind him, Rainn stood alone on the high platform. Her purple dress fluttered in the wind. Her eyes stayed fixed on the place where he had disappeared, filled with reluctance, yet also with firm resolve.

She would protect this place.

She would protect their way back.

Inside the violent space passage, countless space storms raged wildly. But whenever they came within three feet of Aiden, they were torn apart by an invisible Strength.

Cheryl looked at the terrifying cracks in space around them, and she could not help feeling nervous.

She secretly glanced at Aiden’s almost perfect side profile. Her pretty face turned slightly red, and her heart beat like a drum.

Unlike her sister, she was not bold with her feelings. She did not know how to express the emotions that had quietly begun to grow in her heart.

After hesitating again and again, she reached out with her fair little hand and carefully, gently held the corner of Aiden’s white robe.

Her movement was very light, carrying the clumsy and cautious feeling of a young girl.

Aiden noticed the pull on his robe and turned his head slightly to look at her.

Cheryl’s fair neck instantly turned pink. In a panic, she wanted to pull her hand back, like a little thief caught doing something wrong.

However, Aiden did not move away. He only smiled faintly and let her keep holding the corner of his robe as he walked steadily toward the end of the passage.

Silver light flashed.

The heavy and violent aura of the Abyss disappeared in an instant. In its place was the familiar yet thin air of Earth.

They had passed through the node of the Golden Great Wall and returned to the territory of the Great Shaw Empire.

However, the moment his feet touched the ground, Aiden suddenly frowned.

His soul strength, which had risen to an extreme level, released terrifying perception at that moment.

In his senses, the spatial laws across the entire Great Shaw Empire were shaking violently, as if an invisible giant hand was secretly tearing them apart.

What made Aiden’s eyes narrow even more was that, far away in the direction of the Sovereign City, a faint trace of the Abyss demonic energy was rising.

It was extremely weak, yet incredibly pure.

Demonic energy had actually begun to awaken inside the Sovereign City of the Great Shaw Empire.

Aiden’s eyes instantly turned as cold and sharp as blades. A terrifying killing intent silently gathered around him.

Something had happened.

"Whoosh—"

The wind of Earth, carrying a slight chill, brushed past Aiden’s white robes.

Behind him, the space passage slowly closed like rippling water, and finally disappeared into nothing.

Aiden stood with his hands behind his back. In his deep black eyes, a cold light flashed and vanished.

He closed his eyes. His soul strength, now almost godlike, turned into an invisible Spirit storm and swept out with a loud, silent force.

Within a hundred miles, every blade of grass and every tree was under his control.

"The laws of the void are trembling. In the direction of the Sovereign City... something dirty is waking up."

Aiden slowly opened his eyes. His voice was calm, without the slightest warmth, yet it made Cheryl tremble slightly beside him.

"Aiden, I felt it too. That aura... it is very similar to the Demon energy from the lower levels of the Abyss, but it is colder and more violent."

Cheryl gritted her teeth. Her pretty face was filled with seriousness, and a faint glow from her soul armor flickered around her body.

"Let’s go. To the Sovereign City."

Aiden took one step forward. The laws of space under his feet folded the distance on their own. Pulling Cheryl with him, he disappeared from the spot in an instant.

A while later.

Outside the towering hundred-zhang city walls of the Sovereign City of the Great Shaw Empire.

Aiden and Cheryl stood side by side on a high slope, looking down at the city gate ahead.

In the past, the gate of the Sovereign City had always been busy, with carriages and people moving nonstop.

But now, a terrifying line stretched for several miles outside the gate.

At the city gate, groups of elite Reclassers in heavy armor stood with battle blades in hand. Their faces were cold and serious as they carefully watched every person entering the city.

Buzz!

Above the gate, a huge Demon-Breaking Mirror floated in the air. It gave off a bright white light. Everyone who wanted to enter the city had to stand under the mirror for a few seconds and go through a magic check.

"They even brought out a Gold Rank Demon-Breaking Mirror. It seems the Sovereign City has already raised the highest alarm."

Aiden looked at the scene and gave a cold, mocking smile.

He closed his eyes. His powerful Spirit energy turned into an invisible silver needle and instantly pierced into the minds of several guards at the gate.

"Did you hear? That old thief Felix still hasn’t been caught!"

"How is that possible? War God James went after him himself. He’s a level 95 Venerable. How could Felix escape?"

"Heh, you don’t understand. Someone in the court is protecting him! Every time War God James is about to close the net, that old thief gets the news in advance and runs away. There’s a traitor inside, and their position must be terrifyingly high!"

The guards’ thoughts were heard clearly by Aiden, without missing a single word.

Felix.

The first minister of the Great Shaw Empire, and the leader of the conservatives. As expected, he had completely become a dog of the Evil Demons Guild.

"A traitor in the court... Looks like the roots of this great tree, the Great Shaw Empire, have already started to rot."

Aiden let out a cold snort. Killing intent filled his eyes.

However, before he could withdraw his Spirit energy, a heart-wrenching cry suddenly came from the government notice board at the side of the city gate.

"Please, my Lords! Save my grandson! He is only ten years old!"

"He has been missing for three days! I have been kneeling here for three days and nights! Why won’t anyone do anything?"

An old man in ragged clothes, with white hair covering his head, was desperately knocking his head against the hard stone road. His forehead was already badly torn and covered in blood.

The guards around him looked cold and indifferent. One of them even kicked him away impatiently.

"Get lost! The Great Shaw Empire is in a troubled time right now. A lowborn peasant goes missing, and you think it is worth bothering the Divine Guard?"

"If you dare gather people here and make noise again, we’ll charge you with working with the Evil Demons Guild!"

The old man was kicked so hard that he rolled across the ground several times. Then he broke down and cried in despair.

Aiden’s eyes fell on the old man, and his brows suddenly furrowed.

He recognized him.

The old man was from The White City.

And in the old man’s cries, Aiden noticed one detail—his grandson had once lost an arm during the beast tide in The White City, but later, the arm had somehow grown back.

"A severed arm grew back..."

Aiden’s pupils suddenly shrank to pinpoints.

Among Earth’s normal classes, aside from a Mythic Rank healing skill, there was no Strength that could make an ordinary little boy regrow a lost limb.

Unless he had taken a blood potion made from the blood of the Abyss Demon.

That was the most common and most cruel bait used by the Evil Demons Guild. They gave ordinary people a miracle with Demon blood, and then slowly took full control of them.

"That child is a pawn of the Evil Demons Guild... or maybe a sacrifice."

Aiden’s voice became low and cold. In that instant, the air around him seemed to freeze. Even the falling leaves stopped in midair.

The boy’s disappearance was no accident.

Behind it stood a huge black chain, leading straight to the Evil Demons Guild.
