Chapter 252: Aiden Is in Danger. Despair
Chapter 252: Chapter 252: Aiden Is in Danger. Despair
During the earlier fight, Beliar hadn’t tried to trap Aiden in an illusion.
When he first laid eyes on Aiden, the Gnome Demon noticed a strange Soul Protection surrounding the human Reclasser.
If he had tried to cast an illusion back then, it would have been far less effective.
But the situation had changed. He no longer needed to waste his power on the other humans. His only target was Aiden.
Now, Raphael’s body, which looked like a withered bamboo stick, swayed slightly. His eyes fixed on Aiden with pure murderous intent.
“Beliar, control Aiden!” Raphael shouted quickly. “He’s the strongest. Without him, the other human Reclassers stand no chance against our attack!”
Raphael was wary of Aiden, mostly because he could still see the body of the Scorpion-Tailed Demon lying on the ground in front of him.
But beyond that wariness, Raphael felt mostly rage.
Out on the frontline, these Mythic Rank Demon geniuses had always played the role of the hunter.
The human Reclassers? They were just a pack of scared, weak rabbits.
But everything changed the moment they met this human named Aiden.
As the hunters, they had lost several of their own kind.
Raphael’s only wish now was to torture Aiden until he broke.
“Poor thing,” Raphael thought. “Soon you’ll realize that when you wake up, your friends will already be used as my toys.”
He nodded to Beliar. He watched as thick veins bulged across Beliar’s massive head, making the creature look terrifyingly fierce.
Hummm!
An invisible wave suddenly erupted from Beliar’s massive head, shooting toward Aiden with blinding speed.
“Mindspace!” Beliar’s voice suddenly sharpened.
Nellie, who had just barely escaped the Mindspace thanks to Jenna, instantly paled. She whipped her head around to look at Aiden and screamed:
“Watch out!”
Nellie had seen her dead mother in the Mindspace.
At first, she stayed on guard, constantly telling herself it was all an illusion, that everything was fake.
But when she heard her mother mention things that only the two of them had experienced, her rationality began to crumble fast.
If not for Jenna, she would still be trapped in the Mindspace right now.
So, seeing what the Gnome Demon was doing, Nellie’s immediate thought was, This is it. We’re done for.
Jenna was already out of the fight. If Aiden fell into the Mindspace too, there’d be no one left to stop the Mythic Rank Demon geniuses but her and Victor. It wouldn’t be enough.
Filling with panic and worry, Nellie felt time itself seem to slow down around her.
She sensed a sudden, invisible pulse of soul energy appear around Aiden. Immediately, she remembered that Aiden must have some kind of soul defense skill.
It should be fine, she thought nervously.
But the very next second, she watched Aiden’s eyes turn confused and blank.
As Aiden’s head slowly drooped, the Abyss Flame Demon staff began to drop from his hand.
“Hahaha!” Beliar laughed. “The Mindspace isn’t a soul attack. It shows you the deepest things you fear and the things you crave most.”
“By the time this lowly human breaks free from the Mindspace, it will already be too late.”
A confident smile spread across Demon Beliar’s face.
The strongest human Reclasser had fallen into the Mindspace. The rest stood no chance against them.
“Captain!”
Victor’s face twisted with panic. He instinctively charged toward where Aiden lay, trying to snap him back to consciousness.
But before he could take a single step, thick black vines shot up from the ground, slamming down right in his path.
Boom!
The earth shook violently. Countless black vines wove together, forming a dense, unbreakable cage that trapped Aiden inside.
“With me here, you can do nothing,” the Vine Demon Loros said calmly.
Seeing this, Demon Rhodes’s eyes lit up instantly. His lips curled into a manic grin. All fear and hesitation vanished from his face.
He took a few quick steps forward, his expression arrogantly wild.
“You weak humans have lost your last hope. Next, RhodesLord will show you what real terror feels like.”
Meanwhile, in the live stream, the global audience watched the unfolding scene on the frontline and held their breath.
Without Aiden, this battle had become deadly.
“It’s over… It’s over,” someone whispered. “Nellie and the others have used up all their Teleportation Scrolls. Even if they wanted to flee, there’s no way out now.”
“How could this happen? That Demon who looked like a little goblin has such a creepy ability!”
“Aiden, please wake up!”
“Exactly. If Aiden was fighting normally, he could have led all the talented players here to safety.”
“What do we do? What can we do? Are we just going to stand here and watch our players get killed by these Demon geniuses?”
“Wake up! Please wake up, Aiden!”
“All hope rests on you, Aiden. Please, I beg you, wake up! Come back to your senses!”
Just as the audience was losing all hope, Demon Azdrael led the other Demon geniuses into a fierce assault against the human players.
Now that he had activated his Despair Zone, Azdrael was terrifyingly strong. Even Nellie, clad in bloody thorns, was struggling just to keep up with him.
As for the others, only Victor and Jade were barely holding their own against Demon Rhodes.
The rest—Jordan, Cici, and the players from The Amaranth Country—were getting pushed back by the combined attacks of the Gnome Demon and the Vine Demon Loros.
Spit!
Jordan, a Legendary Rank Titan Shieldguard, suddenly spat out a huge mouthful of blood.
His face turned deathly pale. His arms trembled violently, struggling to lift the massive black shield.
Right in front of him, the Vine Demon Loros slowly pulled his arm back with a look of pure contempt.
“I’m actually surprised you managed to block my full-strength attack,” Loros said coldly. “But you’re still trash.”
“Let’s see what you can block with the next one.”
Loros’s right arm suddenly flexed. Countless black vines twisted and knotted together, forming a massive fist as big as a small car. It slammed toward Jordan with terrifying speed.
“Brother!”
Cici’s eyes widened in terror. She screamed.
Jordan took a deep breath without a second’s hesitation.
He clenched his teeth, his trembling arms fighting to lift the heavy black shield one last time. He slammed it onto the ground, bracing his shoulder against it, and roared:
“Fuck you! You bastards! When the Captain wakes up, none of you will escape!”
The moment his words left his mouth, Demon Loros’s fist crashed down hard onto the black shield.
The black shield instantly cracked all over, then shattered with a deafening crash. Jordan’s body was blasted backward through the air.
The sheer strength of the impact forced another mouthful of blood from his lips.
His body smashed straight into the ruins.
Boom! Rumble!
A massive cloud of dust rose into the air, only to be quickly pressed down by the heavy rain.
Jordan lay weakly among the rubble.
His body was twisted in a sickening way, and his arm was broken right to the bone, the white bone exposed. Blood poured from his wounds, turning the surrounding rain red.
Yet, even like this, he didn’t scream or cry out. He just stared hard at his enemies. His eyes were filled with furious disbelief and a touch of despair.
“Hmph. The captain you’re talking about must be Aiden, right?” Vine Demon Loros sneered. “He does have some skill, but he has no chance against us.”
“Even if he wakes up right now, he can’t change a thing. He’ll just have to watch you all die in pain.”
Loros glanced at Cici standing nearby and a grotesque grin spread across his face.
“A Legendary Rank human isn’t even on Grand Duke’s or Demon GodLord’s list of targets. Looks like I got lucky. I’ll have plenty of fun with you later.”
Demon Loros stuck out a scarlet tongue and unconsciously licked his lips, his eyes burning with intense excitement.
Just then, a massive impact sound suddenly echoed through the area again.
Nellie was blasted sideways by Demon Azdrael, crashing through one ruined wall after another.
“Go! Get out of here!” Nellie quickly regained her balance and shouted at Cici.
Guilt flooded her eyes.
After all, her original target had been the Gnome Demon. If she had taken it down, none of this would have happened.
Aiden had already killed two Mythic Rank Demon geniuses. Yet, while facing that same Gnome Demon, she had fallen into the Mindspace and couldn’t break free.
“What about you then?” Cici asked quickly.
Nellie took a deep breath, her gaze shifting to the cage woven from black vines. “I don’t know.”
She truly had no idea what to do.
If they kept fighting, their only fate was death.
If they tried to run away, maybe they could escape.
But if they did that, she would never be able to forget what happened today.
Soon, one after another, the human genius players were captured by Azdrael.
The entire global audience watching the live stream was plunged into absolute despair.
However, no one noticed that Aiden’s eyelids were fluttering gently.
