Chapter 253: Angry Kelsey, Confused Aiden

Chapter 253: Chapter 253: Angry Kelsey, Confused Aiden

In the Elephant Empire, inside a small town near the front lines of the battle, a cheap, smelly hotel held its occupants. A little boy from The White City sat with his grandfather, both of them staring nervously at the live stream on the phone.

“Grandpa, why hasn’t General Aiden moved? Is… is he in trouble?” the boy asked.

His eyes were wide with fear and worry.

His voice trembled as he blinked rapidly, unable to focus.

The boy clearly didn’t want to see what happened next, yet he desperately hoped Aiden would suddenly burst out of that cage made of black vines.

The grandfather clenched his hands tight, taking deep, shaky breaths before finally managing to say:

“It’s okay. We have to trust General Aiden. He can handle any danger and defeat all the enemies.”

The rain outside grew heavier, pounding against the window with a dull thud.

The boy turned to look out, a look of determination finally appearing on his face.

He quickly ran to his suitcase, pulled out a raincoat, and put it on.

His grandfather watched with confusion. “What’s wrong? You aren’t watching the stream? It’s pouring rain outside. Are you really going out?”

The boy stood by the door, his hand on the handle. He turned back to his grandfather and replied, “I’m going to save General Aiden. I have to help him!”

His grandfather froze. He glanced down at the phone on the bed.

Aiden was still trapped in the cage of black vines, completely motionless.

Those Mythic Rank Demon geniuses were just too strong.

The Spider Demon that had invaded The White City was nothing compared to them—it was like they could crush it without trying.

And now, Aiden’s teammates couldn’t provide any support at all.

The situation was becoming more dangerous by the minute.

If this kept up, even if Aiden woke up in the end, he would still face every single Mythic Rank Demon genius!

The grandfather felt that there would be no miracle this time.

Humans were simply too weak compared to Demons.

Even Aiden, who had saved The White City, stood no chance against so many powerful enemies.

“I can’t watch this anymore,” the grandfather thought.

He looked at the boy’s anxious, worried eyes. Finally, he sighed and said, “Wait a minute. Let me get a raincoat, and I’ll go out with you.”

The boy’s eyes lit up instantly.

As soon as his grandfather tossed the phone onto the bed, the boy rushed over to watch the stream again.

“Grandpa, look! General Aiden seems to be moving!” the boy suddenly shouted, rubbing his eyes hard in disbelief.

But almost instantly, his face fell with disappointment.

It must have been a trick of the light. Aiden hadn’t moved at all.

In the Great Shaw Empire, inside the royal palace.

The heavy, suffocating atmosphere made the vast hall feel even colder.

Empress Eira of the Great Shaw Empire gripped her imperial scepter tightly, her eyes fixed unblinkingly on the live stream.

Beside her, Princess Kelsey clutched her dress so hard her knuckles turned white, her chest heaving as she trembled with tension.

“Mother, what’s happening to Aiden?” Kelsey asked, her voice thick with worry.

Empress Eira shook her head slowly. “I’m not entirely sure either. Aiden must have been affected by that Gnome Demon’s skill.”

She turned her gaze toward James, who was standing a few feet away.

James let out a heavy sigh and spoke quickly, “Your Majesty, the situation is not looking good for Aiden and the others. Soon, those Demon geniuses will defeat all the other Reclassers one by one. Even if Aiden wakes up in the end, he won’t be able to handle so many opponents. I’m afraid…”

The air in the hall grew even heavier.

Just then, Felix, the First Minister of the Great Shaw Empire, took a slow step forward.

“Your Majesty,” he said calmly, “perhaps it’s time we started thinking about how to calm the public’s emotions.”

In his heart, he knew that if Aiden died at the hands of a Demon, the people of the Great Shaw Empire would be enraged, and it could even lead to riots.

When Aiden had managed to kill a Mythic Rank Demon genius, Felix had already stopped hoping that Aiden would die by Henry’s hand.

His grandson, Owen, had been involved in the plot against Aiden. If Aiden kept getting stronger, Owen would be in serious trouble.

Fortunately, the remaining Mythic Rank Demon geniuses were terrifyingly powerful. They were sure to kill Aiden.

“My plan is working perfectly,” Felix thought. “The gap between humans and Demons is too huge. Once the people of the Great Shaw Empire see Aiden die, they’ll give up their wish for war.”

“Hmph, at that point, more people will support me,” he thought, barely holding back a smirk.

If he wasn’t in front of Empress Eira and James, he would have laughed out loud.

“Lies!” Kelsey snapped her head around, glaring at Felix with pure anger. “You are just talking nonsense!”

This was the first time she, as a princess of the Great Shaw Empire, had ever used such rude words in front of so many people.

“It’s not over yet! What do you mean ’calm the emotions’? Maybe General Aiden will return to normal in a moment, turn the tables, and kill all those hateful Demon geniuses!” Kelsey shouted loudly.

Felix let out a cold, disdainful sneer.

The situation was unstoppable.

Even if Aiden could fight again, he stood no chance against those Demon geniuses.

“Your Highness,” Felix said, looking at Kelsey. “You must have seen how strong those Mythic Rank Demon geniuses are. The end is already sealed. Calming the public is what we should be worrying about right now.”

“Oh, and there is one more thing we need to think about: How shall we handle Aiden’s funeral once he is dead?”

Felix spoke slowly, looking at the furious Kelsey.

He knew these words would make Empress Eira uncomfortable.

But Eira would have to consider his position as the leader of the peace faction and wouldn’t dare touch him.

With Aiden’s fame growing, Felix found his own power was being restricted by many things. These words were just his way of venting his frustration.

However, the next second, Felix’s face turned pale.

“Shut your foul mouth or get out!” Empress Eira roared, her anger completely impossible to hide.

Her gaze turned icy, looking at Felix as if he were nothing more than trash.

“Aiden is a hero of the Great Shaw Empire, representing the entire nation. Even though he is in trouble right now, all is not lost!”

“And you, a minister of the Great Shaw Empire, instead of hoping for a turnaround, are here cursing Aiden.”

“Felix, your words and actions have truly disappointed me.”

Eira suddenly swung her imperial scepter. Instantly, a phantom Golden Dragon of National Destiny condensed above her head.

The moment she finished speaking, she saw Felix bowing in terror, constantly apologizing and begging for forgiveness.

It had been hard enough for the Great Shaw Empire to produce a genius like Aiden; she genuinely did not want anything bad to happen to him.

But even now, despite her fury toward Felix’s words, she knew the cold truth: unless a miracle happened, there was no hope.

Meanwhile, high in the sky near the front line.

Selene, a human divine powerhouse, looked at her companion, Radiant Blade, with a grave expression.

“Teacher,” she said slowly, “the moment Robert makes his move, it will mean we have lost this battle.”

“I never expected that among these Demon geniuses, there would be one capable of trapping people in a Mindspace,” Selene sighed.

Radiant Blade vibrated rapidly and spoke. “Don’t worry. It’s not over yet.”

“To be honest, Aiden hasn’t even used his Mythic Rank item yet.”

Hearing this, Selene paused for a moment, then shook her head slightly. “Teacher, what Aiden faces in a moment are four Mythic Rank Demon geniuses.”

As the student of Bella, the strongest human god, and a Mythic Rank Godslayer herself, Selene had once killed several Mythic Rank Demon geniuses when she was just level 50.

Because of this, she knew exactly how strong those Demon geniuses were.

If it were a one-on-one fight, she would be sure that Aiden could defeat the enemy.

But now, Aiden has to face four Mythic Rank Demon geniuses all by himself. The danger is extreme; it’s almost a death sentence.

“You’re forgetting one thing: Aiden’s power has changed,” Radiant Blade vibrated softly. “Keep watching. I’m sure he has a surprise for us.”

Right now, inside Aiden’s Mindspace.

He stood there calmly, staring at the figures of Elyra and Kael that had appeared before him.

“Aiden, Elyra is my girlfriend now. You loser are just not good enough for her!” Kael said smugly, wrapping his arm around Elyra’s slender waist.

Elyra, meanwhile, looked at Aiden with pure disgust and loathing.

Seeing this scene, the corner of Aiden’s mouth curled up slightly. “Interesting, but only a little bit.”

“Someone who is already dead appearing in front of me? This illusion is way too fake.”

Aiden shook his head slowly and didn’t hesitate. He walked quickly toward the mist in the distance.

“Wait! Aren’t you angry? Aren’t you scared… like you always are?”

Elyra’s voice grew weaker and weaker until it faded away completely.

Angry? Scared?

Aiden frowned slightly.

That Gnome Demon must know everything about me, he thought. Does it think I’m afraid to see Kael and Elyra together?

No, that doesn’t make sense. Kael is a dead man. Him appearing here shouldn’t shake my guard or trap me in an illusion.

Confusion filled Aiden’s mind.

A few seconds later, the surrounding mist suddenly vanished.

Aiden stopped instantly. His pupils shrank as he stared fixedly at what lay ahead.
