Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Update Gear. Wait for me in Hell
[smoky black wings: Legendary Rank. Dropped by the Mythic Rank Fog Demon Philip upon death.
Equipping it grants +3,500 Spirit, +4,000 Agility, +20% Physical Defense, and +30% Magic Defense.
It allows for fast flight with only a small amount of mana consumed.
The smoky black wings can change size freely. The maximum wingspan is 100 meters. As the wings grow larger, flight mana consumption increases, and flexibility decreases, but speed goes up. This makes them perfect for long-distance travel.
Additionally, with a small mana cost, the wings can spray out violent dark energy, allowing the user to perform a Z-shaped dash. This can be used multiple times in a short period.
With a large mana cost, the smoky black wings will wrap around the user’s body at top speed, instantly teleporting them to a target location within a short distance. This effect can pass through regular obstacles, including walls and standard metal… The teleportation distance depends on the user’s Spirit stat.]
When Aiden saw the details for the smoky black wings, his eyes lit up instantly.
Honestly, this gear is way better than the Epic Rank Iron Dragon’s Wings.
It offers a Z-shaped dash that beats the burst dash, plus it can teleport!
With this ability, Aiden no longer has to worry about getting trapped in a building or a secret room someday.
Without a second thought, Aiden immediately took off his Iron Dragon’s Wings and equipped the smoky black wings.
Boom!
Massive black wings burst open. Every flap released thick black smoke that spread in all directions. It looked incredibly cool and matched his Blackfire Cloak perfectly.
Aiden did feel like, with the Blackfire Cloak and smoky black wings on, he looked a bit too villainous to be a hero.
But aside from that tiny flaw, everything else was perfect.
Next, Aiden reached into his storage space and pulled out another loot item: the Legendary Rank Skill Book, Smoke Form.
[Smoke Form: Legendary Rank. Consumes a small amount of mana to transform the user’s body into smoke, increasing movement speed by 30%, skill casting speed by 10%, and reducing mana consumption by 10%. It also allows the user to evade fatal enemy attacks. While in smoke form, the user is immune to ordinary physical attacks, but their magic defense is reduced by 30%. In addition, the user can split off black smoke to create fist-sized duplicates. Each duplicate possesses 10% of the user’s four main attributes and lasts for 5 minutes.]
Without hesitation, Aiden learned the Smoke Form skill.
It was made for him.
In fact, Smoke Form is almost like the effect of the Supreme Miko Blessing.
Of course, this only applies to physical attacks.
If Aiden faced a magic-wielding Recluser or a BOSS, this skill wouldn’t be as useful.
Still, it would definitely boost his power a lot.
Then, Aiden turned his gaze to the Mythic Rank Skill Enhancement Stone in his storage. This was his biggest prize.
Aiden already had quite a few Legendary Rank skills.
He paused for a moment, wondering which one to upgrade to the Mythic Rank tier.
Right now, the Legendary Rank Shadow Stealth skill was plenty for his needs.
It might be better to use this Mythic Rank Enhancement Stone to upgrade an attack skill’s tier instead.
Before Aiden could decide, Faye suddenly spoke up:
“Master, I smell a familiar scent. It’s that smelly bug Demon!”
Hearing this, Aiden’s eyes narrowed instantly.
Without a second thought, he immediately shrank Demon Philip’s body into his storage space and told Faye to return to her pet dimension.
He quickly started cleaning up the scene.
Next moment, the figure of Drew appeared in the sky.
But he wasn’t paying attention here; he flew straight in a specific direction.
Aiden let out a sigh of relief.
He still planned to use his Slaughter Demon Aelris identity to do some things. If he got exposed, that would be a disaster.
Just then, a familiar voice suddenly rang out from behind him, inside the ruined bank.
“Do you know where Drew Lord is? Uh, no, I mean Lord Philip .”
Aiden’s eyes instantly turned cold. He spun around to face the mysterious figure in a cloak standing inside the bank.
He knew that voice. It was Miles!
How was he here? And it seemed like he was looking for Demon Philip.
While Aiden wondered what to do, he walked toward Miles. A gentle smile slowly spread across his face as he asked,
“Who are you?”
Miles, whose face was hidden by the black cloak, didn’t answer. Instead, he reached into his robe and pulled out a black token.
“You should recognize this,” he said.
Aiden blinked, then nodded. He pretended to recognize it.
In reality, he had no idea what that object was.
“Good. I have some business with Lord Philip. Tell me where he is,” Miles said impatiently, asking about Philip’s location again.
Aiden thought for a second and replied, “Lord Philip went out to hunt down some talented human Reclasers.”
“If you have business, you can tell me instead.”
“You?” Miles looked up and down at the Slaughter Demon in front of him, his expression hesitant.
“Never mind. You just tell me where Lord Philip went. I’ll go find him myself.” Miles ultimately rejected Aiden’s offer.
He still wanted to notify Philip personally to avoid any unexpected accidents.
Aiden smiled and nodded.
His luck had been way too good today. Not only had he encountered the injured Philip,
Plus, he had just taken down Philip and immediately bumped into Miles.
Right now, Aiden was playing the role of Slaughter Demon Aelris, so killing a talented human Recluser made perfect sense.
Thinking this, Aiden replied directly, “Sure, follow me. I’ll take you to find Lord Philip.”
Miles first looked up at the sky, making sure no flying pets were broadcasting the scene, before stepping out of the ruined bank and joining Aiden.
Just then, Aiden twitched his nose, sniffing the air carefully.
He suddenly took a step back, looking at Miles with a warning glare and demanded, “You smell like a human. You aren’t a Demon. Who are you really?”
Miles froze instantly. He quickly pulled out the black token and rushed to explain, “If you recognize this, you shouldn’t care about my identity.”
Aiden’s face remained filled with suspicion. “How do I know this is real? What if you’re a human with evil intentions?”
“If you don’t want me to kill you, don’t resist. I’ll take you to find Lord Philip, and your identity will be proven then.”
Deep breath under the black cloak, Miles muttered a curse, “Damn it, what a stupid Demon! But even a stupid Demon is way better than those damned humans.”
With no other choice, Miles agreed to Aiden’s request.
He handed over his weapons to Aiden and sighed, “Is this okay now?”
Aiden nodded.
Yes, this was fine. Miles was basically a dead man walking.
But before he died, Aiden wanted to get more useful information from him.
So, while pretending to lead Miles to Philip, Aiden kept gently probing for info.
“Lord Philip’s injuries just healed. He told me he needs to wait a bit before fighting again,” Aiden said, testing the waters.
Hearing this, Miles sounded completely confused and asked, “Injured? How could Lord Philip get hurt?”
Aiden’s tone instantly turned angry. “It’s all because of that talented Recluser named Aiden! He badly hurt Lord Philip!”
Instantly, Miles’ body went stiff. He stopped in his tracks, muttering Aiden’s name to himself.
“You know that guy?” Aiden asked, feigning curiosity.
Miles clenched his fists and nodded hard, gritting his teeth. “Not only do I know him, I dream of killing him every day! All my pain and humiliation came because of him. Every single second he survives in this world causes me unbearable agony.”
“Fortunately, that pain will end soon. I came to find Lord Philip to deliver Lord Azdrael’s command.”
“What command?” Aiden’s eyes lit up. He felt he was about to get some very useful information.
But Miles didn’t answer. His mind was only set on killing Aiden.
Although Charles had said Aiden was more valuable alive, Miles had already planned everything in his heart.
As long as nothing went wrong, Aiden would definitely die on the front lines!
He could finally get his revenge and be a hero who saves all the talented Reclusers captured by the Demons.
Just thinking about the future made a smile creep onto Miles’ lips.
Just then, the Slaughter Demon walking ahead suddenly stopped. He turned back and smiled.
“Alright, since I can’t get any useful info, it’s time for you to meet Philip.”
Miles was momentarily stunned. He looked around left and right but couldn’t spot Philip anywhere.
Subconsciously, he asked, “Where is Lord Philip?”
Aiden chuckled. “Waiting for you in Hell.”
