Chapter 245: The Death of Miles, and the Rewards

Chapter 245: Chapter 245: The Death of Miles, and the Rewards

“Hell?” Miles’ pupils shrank instantly. A strong sense of crisis hit him.

He could tell that the Demon in front of him, who was laughing while talking, really wanted to kill him.

But Miles had no idea what was going on.

He thought he hadn’t offended any Demon.

“Brother, did you mistake me? Yes, I am human, but I have already turned my back on humanity and joined the Evil Demons Guild,” Miles said quickly.

“We are brothers on the same side. You must have mixed me up with someone else.”

Miles looked up at the sky again. Once he confirmed no flying pets were broadcasting, he quickly pulled off his black cloak.

He didn’t notice that those words didn’t lower the Slaughter Demon’s killing intent at all; they actually made it stronger.

“Since I have this black token, it proves I’ve betrayed humanity. Brother, please don’t misunderstand me,” Miles explained frantically.

Aiden shook his head slightly. A flash of strong disgust appeared in his eyes as he asked casually, “I’m curious. You’re human, yet you chose to betray your own kind. Why?”

Miles paused for a second. He took a deep breath and answered slowly, “Of course, for stronger power. For revenge. For all those who hurt me to regret it!”

“Brother, if you went through what I went through, you’d do the same.”

Aiden smiled, then directly pulled out the Abyss Flame Demon staff.

The next moment, he saw Miles’ pupils shrink again. A look of shock and disbelief appeared on his face, as if he couldn’t believe his eyes or thought he was dreaming.

“This… this staff looks so familiar,” Miles blurted out.

When the Abyss Flame Demon staff lit up, it finally clicked in Miles’ mind.

This belonged to his greatest enemy: Aiden!

Instantly, the temperature around Miles plummeted. His body froze solid in hard ice.

But that wasn’t the most shocking part. What came next made his jaw drop. The Slaughter Demon before him began to change in an unbelievable way.

“You’re Aiden!”

Miles felt the world had gone mad.

A Slaughter Demon had just transformed into Aiden right in front of him.

No, it should be said that Aiden had perfectly disguised himself as a Slaughter Demon, tricking him into giving up his weapon.

Even if Miles was slow, he understood now exactly what awaited him in seconds.

His lips started trembling. Fear of death filled his eyes. He tried to struggle frantically.

“Don’t be rash, Aiden! I’m also a contestant in the Global Recluser Exchange Tournament!”

“If you kill me, you’ll be in huge trouble!”

Miles truly didn’t want to die. He had finally found a way to get revenge and regain the spotlight of millions.

Everything was just beginning!

“I didn’t kill you,” Aiden smiled, activating the Aberrant Fleshweaver mask once more. “The Legendary Rank Slaughter Demon Aelris is the one killing you.”

Aiden also decided not to use the Abyss Flame Demon staff to cast a killing spell on Miles. Doing so would leave a trace and create a loophole.

Instead, Aiden quickly walked up to the frozen Miles. He raised the Abyss Flame Demon staff high and brought it down hard on one of Miles’ legs.

Crack! The hard ice shattered instantly.

With the sharp sound of a broken bone, Miles’ face twisted in pure agony, and a terrible scream tore from his throat.

“Aaaahhh! What are you doing? Stop! Stop it!”

Miles felt his leg snap.

Before he could even process the sudden pain, he saw Aiden raise the staff again and smash it down on his other leg.

The same agony struck once more.

Miles’ eyes were filled with terror.

How could a Magic Apprentice have strength so terrifying? He could shatter the hard ice on Miles’ body and break his legs completely in one hit.

As his legs lost their strength, Miles collapsed onto the ground with a thud.

He used every ounce of his remaining energy to turn over, trying to crawl forward with his hands like a maggot, desperately trying to get as far away from death as possible.

But Aiden wasn’t going to let him go that easily.

He quickly raised the staff in his hand again.

Bang!

Bang!

In less than a second, Miles’ hands turned into the same mangled mess as his legs.

Now, he could only lie on the ground, struggling to lift his head and look up at the tall figure of Aiden.

“Don’t… don’t kill me! I know a lot of useful info. Please, have mercy! I’ll tell you everything, do anything!”

Miles spoke in a frantic rush. He was terrified Aiden would lose his temper and crush his skull with a single blow.

Revenge?

Regaining the spotlight of millions?

At the foot of death, none of that mattered anymore.

Miles just wanted to live. He didn’t want to die.

“I’m sorry, Aiden! I was wrong! I know I was wrong! Please, let me go! Give me one more chance! I’ll change, I promise I will change!”

“If I don’t change, then I’ll…”

Listening to Miles’ desperate pleas, Aiden smiled faintly. “And if you don’t change, what then?”

“Will I become a beast? But you’re already a beast, Miles. A beast that betrayed humanity.”

“Don’t you know what the Demons did to humans?”

“You know the answer, yet you did it anyway.”

“You aren’t sorry because you realize you’re wrong. You’re sorry because you know you’re about to die.”

Aiden lowered the Abyss Flame Demon staff and bent down slightly. He grabbed Miles by the throat and lifted him into the air.

“Talk,” Aiden said coldly. “What is Azdrael’s command? If you answer honestly, I might consider letting you die less painfully.”

Miles bit his teeth down hard. He knew the truth: if he spoke, death was guaranteed.

If he stayed silent, there was still a slim chance to struggle.

“I… I want to live,” Miles choked out. He felt like he couldn’t breathe anymore.

The shadow of death was slowly closing in around him.

He had thought that betraying humanity and joining the Evil Demons Guild would be the key to his revenge. Now, he hadn’t even had time to do anything before Aiden crippled him and left him on the brink of death with such ease.

If he had known this was the end, then on that day, he would have rather let them kill him than entered the Divine Fall Lands dungeon to meet Aiden.

Or… if he hadn’t stopped the Great Shaw Empire Reclusers from chasing the Demons.

Or if he hadn’t framed Aiden to Calvin.

If only he hadn’t… It would have been so much better!

Regret filled Miles’ heart. He truly realized his mistake. And for the first time, he was truly afraid.

But when he saw Aiden’s icy gaze, he knew the truth: no matter what he said, Aiden wouldn’t let him live.

“Can’t you just give me a chance to turn over a new leaf?” Miles asked, blood vessels bursting in his eyes as blood trickled from his lips.

Aiden shook his head calmly. “Not everyone gets a second chance. Some mistakes, once made, can never be fixed.”

“Besides, even if someone else wanted to give you that chance, I would crush it instantly.”

Aiden’s rule was simple: anyone who tried to kill him would be eliminated by any means necessary.

Sparing an enemy? That was only for fools.

Aiden squeezed slightly with his right hand. Miles gasped, his breathing growing rapidly more difficult.

“Order… order is to gather at the highest tower… to build… a blocking formation…” Miles stammered. “I… I don’t want to… die.”

Miles’ breathing suddenly stopped.

Aiden dropped him to the ground without a change in expression.

He didn’t leave immediately. Instead, he slowly raised his right foot, aimed it at Miles’ head, and stomped down hard.

Thump!

Miles’ head exploded like a bursting watermelon. Red blood splattered everywhere, and white brain matter slowly oozed across the floor.

Aside from the 300 million experience points, Miles didn’t drop much of anything useful.

Wait. Aiden’s gaze suddenly snapped to the last line of the log.

Divine Golden Sunflame?

What kind of flame is this?

Aiden knew that all sorts of special flames existed in this world. Usually, they were the dream of any Forgemaster.

Some special flames helped Forgemasters melt materials quickly, boosting their success rate.

Others could grant special effects to equipment.

Aiden had already planned to learn High-tier fire skills to go with the Abyss Flame Demon staff and the Blackfire Cloak.

Truth be told, Miles’ death had actually helped him out.

Without a second thought, Aiden immediately learned Divine Golden Sunflame.

He spent a bit of mana, and instantly, a blinding golden flame appeared in his palm.

The flame was tiny, barely the size of a matchstick.

Yet, the moment it appeared, all the rain within fifty meters of Aiden was instantly evaporated.

Seeing this, Aiden’s eyes lit up. A new idea sparked in his mind.
