Everyone Fought for Weapons, I Planted Bean Sprouts
Chapter 139 - 115: So Embarrassing
Chapter 139: Chapter 115: So Embarrassing
But it didn’t matter. As a wealthy woman with a thousand points to her name, it was high time she took a leisurely stroll through a secondhand clothing store.
While she was at it, she needed to think things over: should she tell Boss Tang about Ke Taichiro’s ability?
If it weren’t for the incident with Zhou Qian, Huai Yu absolutely would have told Boss Tang. After all, Ke Taichiro didn’t actually belong to her, and she had even made plans to head over to the trading market.
But now...
The spider venom that couldn’t be cured even after the hospital exhausted all of its serums and fusion agents was easily suppressed by a few of Ke Taichiro’s little pellets. This kind of ability was far too rare, and far too dangerous. Now, she was actually afraid to tell Boss Tang.
The sun gradually set in the west. The evening’s afterglow shone on the solar lamp, reflecting a hazy radiance. She squatted by the pond, scrubbing her clothes while seriously pondering the matter. But even after thinking for a long time, she still hadn’t made a decision.
Huai Yu sighed. She reached out to lift the clothes and inspected them. The murky brown stains wouldn’t scrub off at all, not to mention the dark, old bloodstains.
Forget it. Out with the old, in with the new!
She just felt bad for putting so much effort into scrubbing them earlier. Deciding to give up, she tossed the clothes onto the grass by the pond. They would dry in the sun over the next couple of days, and then she could use them as bedding for Ke Taichiro’s little house.
When she turned her head, however, she saw Ke Taichiro standing quietly beside her. Its two front claws were holding a tender piece of fish mint, and its mouth was chewing continuously. Beneath its thick hind legs, another small pile of powder had already accumulated.
Clearly, it had been there for a while.
Huai Yu was a bit surprised. "Taichiro, are you here to keep me company?"
Ke Taichiro stopped chewing and bent its two antennae slightly, as if in response.
In that instant, Huai Yu’s heart practically melted!
"Ke Taichiro!!!"
Unable to hold back, she stayed in her squatting position and threw her arms around Ke Taichiro. She stroked its smooth, colorful carapace and made an earnest promise.
"Don’t worry, I will definitely keep your secret safe. I won’t tell anyone, no matter who comes asking!
"Also, would you be willing to live with me forever? Even if your original owner, Gao Ming, gets out—if you’re willing, I’ll go into the city in a few days to figure out how to arrange a meeting with him!" 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂
Huai Yu firmed her resolve. "Even if it costs ten thousand points, I’m willing to pay it!"
Ke Taichiro didn’t speak. It simply spread its wings silently and then bent its antennae again.
Who cared what it actually meant? As far as Huai Yu was concerned, it meant exactly what she wanted it to mean! She laughed aloud, lifting Ke Taichiro’s body high into the air with both hands, and happily spun around in a circle.
"Ke Taichiro!
"Have I ever told you how incredibly, incredibly grateful I am for you?!"
Caught completely off guard, Ke Taichiro’s front claws loosened. With a soft SMACK, the piece of fish mint it was holding dropped squarely onto Huai Yu’s face.
By the time she finished cleaning up, it was already dark.
Huai Yu lay in bed staring at the pitch-black ceiling, too lazy to even turn on the light. After staring blankly for quite a while, she finally rolled over and turned on the solar lamp.
Under the bright light, the three books she had bought for entertainment sat conspicuously on her nightstand.
However, Huai Yu stared at them with an unfriendly gaze. Before she had this entertainment, whenever she was free, she had to find something to do; otherwise, the boredom was overwhelming and time dragged on endlessly. But ever since she bought these three books, she had barely read a few pages properly before one incident after another came crashing down on her.
These books—they were bad luck!
Huai Yu sat up, determined to quickly finish reading them so she could sell them and swap them for three luckier books!
But after reading for only ten minutes—just as the sunflowers in the story were sprouting—she fell fast asleep again. When she woke up, she happened to hear the broadcast playing outside.
"Today is May 2nd, 2066. The weather is clear, air mutation index is 7, and temperatures range from 15 to 28 degrees Celsius. The weather will remain stable over the next week. We wish everyone hard work and bountiful harvests this Labor Day..."
Huai Yu listened groggily for a long time before it finally dawned on her: Labor Day meant they actually had to perform manual labor!
Then... would operations at the Red Victory Trading Market be suspended? What about the Golden Yuan District?
What did Boss Tang say again?
If a household was allocated enough land, they didn’t have to participate in mandatory labor. But as far as she knew, most people prioritized using their points for better housing. After all, the climate was unstable nowadays, and the return on crop cultivation was low.
Even in the Golden Yuan District, which was basically the suburbs, probably very few people owned large plots of land. Renting a pond probably didn’t count, did it?
She remembered the lotus roots she had bought for planting and the vegetable patch she hadn’t gotten around to tidying up yesterday. She quickly washed up and headed out to take a look.
