Chapter 159: Chapter 159: She’s So Soft, He’s Entangled and Doesn’t Want to Let Go

The wind howled past her ears, and the surrounding trees flew backward in a blur.

Yun Sheng was held fast in the man’s arms, completely unable to struggle free.

His arm was like an iron band around her waist, its strength astonishing, yet it was subtly controlled so as not to hurt her.

"Let me go!"

Yun Sheng gritted her teeth and struggled, but her efforts were negligible to the man.

He glanced down at her, his gaze impassive, revealing no emotion.

He watched her for a few seconds without a word before looking away, his pace quickening even more.

Yun Sheng fumed.

She twisted her head to look behind them.

The two figures still locked in combat grew smaller and more distant, until they were swallowed by the dense forest in the blink of an eye.

’Had they... not even noticed she’d been taken?’

’Those two idiots, so caught up in their fight. We’ll see if I even give them the time of day when I see them next!’

She didn’t know how much time had passed before the man finally stopped.

Yun Sheng was set down, and she staggered a step before finding her footing.

She quickly scanned her surroundings. It was a secluded valley, enclosed by steep cliffs, with the only way in or out being the path they had taken.

The man leaned against a tree, watching her quietly.

Yun Sheng stared back at him warily.

"Who are you? Why did you bring me here?"

The man did not answer.

He just watched her, as if appraising an interesting object.

Silence spread between them.

Just as his stare was making her skin crawl, a blue-gray shadow suddenly leaped nimbly from behind him.

It was the spiritual body.

The little creature trotted over to Yun Sheng’s feet on tiny paws, affectionately nuzzling its fluffy head against her calf.

When it saw Yun Sheng looking down, it let out a soft, delicate purr, and its large, fluffy tail curled deftly, winding gently around her ankle.

The touch was warm and soft, like a fluffy scarf.

The little creature would wrap its tail around her, then look up, its sparkling eyes full of delight. The tip of its tail would give her ankle a light sweep, as if trying to charm her.

Yun Sheng’s heart instantly melted a little.

"It likes you a lot."

The man suddenly spoke, his voice cool and deep.

It wasn’t a question, but a statement of fact.

"It was the same last time. You seem to have a special appeal to spiritual bodies."

Yun Sheng pursed her lips.

She hadn’t intended to respond, but considering the man’s power and his suspicion of her, she decided to raise her head and reply calmly, "I’ve just always been popular with small animals."

"Oh, is that so?"

The man shot another glance at the spiritual body, which was clinging to Yun Sheng and refused to leave her side.

The next second, he suddenly straightened up and closed in on her in a flash!

Yun Sheng jumped, instinctively recoiling, but her back immediately hit the cold trunk of a tree.

And the man’s hand was already closing around her wrist.

His hand was cold. The pressure wasn’t heavy, but it held her steady, making it impossible to break free.

He leaned in slightly, his fiery gaze fixed on her. A faint, amber-gold light swirled in his eyes.

"A simple affinity for animals shouldn’t be enough to make two War God Level Sentinels come to blows over you. You... must have other secrets."

Yun Sheng’s body stiffened.

She took a deep breath and said, steeling herself, "They already have a long-standing feud. It wasn’t just because of me."

She wasn’t exactly lying.

Si Jin was now a Dark Sentinel, a wanted man on the Star Alliance’s list, while Bai Ye, the Star Alliance War God, had always wanted to capture him.

’In that case, wasn’t it perfectly normal for them to fight on sight?’

The man watched her, the corners of his lips slowly curving into a barely perceptible smile.

That smile was one of blatant disbelief.

He didn’t speak again.

The next second, the color drained from Yun Sheng’s face!

A vast wave of spiritual power suddenly surged toward her forehead—forceful, cold, and undeniable, probing directly for her spiritual landscape.

’He was actually trying to invade her spiritual landscape!’

"You!"

Yun Sheng gritted her teeth, desperately channeling her spiritual power to form a spiritual power barrier, attempting to resist the invasive force.

But her spiritual power barrier was like an ant trying to shake a tree against his power—utterly futile.

’The strength of his spiritual power... it was on par with Bai Ye’s and Si Jin’s!’

’Another SSS-level?!’

"Probing a guide’s spiritual landscape without permission is against Star Alliance law!" Yun Sheng’s voice trembled, but she stared hard at him. "Aren’t you afraid I’ll report you for this?"

The man snorted, his tone carrying undisguised sarcasm.

"I’m not part of the Star Alliance. What does its law have to do with me?"

Yun Sheng’s heart sank.

His spiritual power continued to press deeper, about to touch the edge of her spiritual landscape. If he successfully broke through, the secrets hidden within it would be exposed...

She gritted her teeth.

’If I can’t block it... then I’ll have to take a gamble!’

Yun Sheng suddenly abandoned her resistance. Instead, she sent her own spiritual power surging forward to meet his, coiling around it as quickly as a vine wrapping a tree trunk. She tried to influence him, to distract him, to keep him from concentrating on his invasion.

The man was slightly startled, a trace of surprise flashing in his eyes.

"Interesting," he said in a low voice.

’Hearing that, Yun Sheng’s resolve hardened.’

’If he thought that was interesting, then she would give him something *really* interesting!’

She pushed her spiritual power forward more forcefully, wrapping it around his like countless soft, silken threads. They wound tightly around every wisp of his own power, teasing and tangling, trying to stop him.

The man’s body stiffened slightly.

The amber-gold light in his eyes flickered, like a stone dropped into a placid lake.

He looked down at Yun Sheng—at her cheeks, faintly flushed from channeling all her spiritual power; at her eyelashes, trembling slightly with tension; at the determined set of her jaw as she bit her lower lip, giving it her all. His Adam’s apple bobbed unconsciously.

’Her spiritual power is so soft.’

The sensation of her power coiling around his was warm and soft, carrying an indescribable intimacy. It was like countless gentle hands brushing against the depths of his consciousness.

He could have easily broken free.

With his power, her meager resistance posed no threat whatsoever.

But he didn’t move.

He simply let her entwine, wrap, and envelop his power with hers.

The man stared at Yun Sheng, his gaze growing deeper and deeper, so intense it felt as if it could pull her in completely.

"Do you have any idea what you’re doing?" His voice was noticeably huskier than before.

Yun Sheng’s breath hitched under his gaze, but she held her ground, refusing to back down.

’Of course she knew what she was doing. She was doing everything she could to stop his spiritual power from invading her spiritual landscape and uncovering her secrets.’

’She was stalling for time, waiting for those two idiots to realize she was gone and come rescue her.’

The man watched her stubborn, desperate struggle, the interest in his eyes deepening.

The power gap was obvious, her chances of winning nonexistent, yet she gritted her teeth and refused to concede.

Her eyes showed tension and wariness, but strangely, no fear.

’And this feeling of their spiritual powers intertwining...’

The man’s spiritual power suddenly flared, no longer a simple invasion.

Instead, it followed every wisp of her own power—enveloping, coiling, possessing—transforming all her resistance into a more intimate entanglement.

His gaze grew darker and darker.

’Suddenly, he found he didn’t want to stop.’

’Her spiritual power... it was even softer than he’d imagined.’

’So soft, it made him want to stay entangled and never let go.’
