Chapter 3844: Grandmaster

  • Next Chapter

The War God bowed as deeply as he could toward Battlesage, to a point where he could bow no further.

"I am Hellspawn, the second disciple of the Hell Emperor," he said. "I am happy to have gotten the chance to meet you, Grandmaster."

Battlesage held a strange expression as well. He turned toward Alex. "Is he really..."

"He is the Hell Emperor’s disciple and the current War God. The Hell Emperor was the previous War God," Alex said, reiterating what the man should have already known but likely hadn’t thought about at the moment.

Battlesage turned toward the War God and held a wide smile. "Haha, come here."

He reached for the War God and gave him a tight embrace. The War God was taken aback, but he let the old man hug him for some time.

Once Battlesage finally let him go, the War God looked at him. "How did you escape from Hell, Grandmaster? Master told me that he tried to save you all before, but failed to do so."

Battlesage gestured toward Alex. "It’s all thanks to this young man that we are getting to meet," he answered. "He was the one who brought me out of Hell."

The War God blinked for a moment before turning toward Alex. "You did?"

Alex nodded.

"I... I do not know what to say," the War God said.

"You don’t have to say anything, senior. Just let me know if you still wish for me to make an oath," Alex said.

The War God clearly appeared quite embarrassed at those words. He looked toward Battlesage first before turning back to Alex. "With Grandmaster here, I cannot outright stop you from using it. But I must give you a warning that my brother may not be as lenient. Do keep that in mind."

Alex nodded slowly. "Is the Array God strong? I’m afraid I do not know much about him."

"He’s the youngest among the Gods to reach the Celestial realm," the Sky God answered from the side. "So... yes, he is strong."

"A Celestial?" Alex asked with clear surprise in his eyes. He definitely hadn’t expected that from the Array God. "How many Celestials are there among the 33 Gods in the first place?"

The Sky God took a moment to think. "12," she answered.

Alex paused for a long moment. He certainly hadn’t expected that many. He quietly counted the 8 Half Gods, who were all Celestials. Then there was the Divination God, and now the Array God.

"I count 10 Celestials in total, 11 if my master counts. Who else am I missing?" Alex asked.

The Sky God shook her head. "Your master isn’t a God. As for who they are, if they come to the meeting, you’ll see them. Otherwise, you’ll have to find that out all by yourself."

Alex sighed in the end. "Well, since the Array God won’t be coming, I will have to wait for any other Celestial Gods that come by."

The Sky God nodded.

Alex turned toward the War God and shrugged. "I’ll think about how I deal with the situation with the Array God when I meet him. Hopefully, he’ll understand why I use it by then."

The War God nodded without many words.

It didn’t look like there was much else to talk about, so Alex thought of leaving. Before he did so, he remembered something and brought out an artifact from his Soul Space.

It was a decently large crystal ball with two headgears that came along with it.

"Here, senior. You asked that I return this when I met you again. I believe this is that time," Alex said.

The War God stared at the crystal with a hint of surprise. "The Battle Mimicry Artifact. I forgot you had this," he said.

"You gave it to me to use and return when I next met you," Alex reminded the man.

"I know. I was hoping to make use of your talent as a battle master. But then, you went to Hell, and I considered the artifact forever gone after that," the War God said. "I never thought you would still have this at all."

"Well, I kept it safe. And now I am returning it," Alex said.

The War God looked at the crystal but didn’t immediately reach for it. "Have you trained with it at all?" he asked.

"A little," Alex said. "I tried to while I was back in Hell, but I slowly lost interest over time."

The War God’s eyes seemed to fall ever so slightly with disappointment. Alex could see the words forming inside his head at that point, thinking of how much Alex had wasted his talent by not using it very often.

"I’ve used it quite a lot," Battlesage said, pointing toward the artifact. "He is good with it, but there is someone else who has managed to surpass him at it."

"Someone else? Who?" the War God asked curiously.

Battlesage turned toward Alex, waiting for his permission.

Alex shrugged.

"It’s a mouse. His bonded beast. He still has a lot to catch up to me, but he has an incredible work ethic and has a knack for managing battles. With enough time, I can see him doing what your master did back in Hell," Battlesage said.

Alex smiled faintly, listening to Battlesage praise Whisker. It wasn’t every day that Whisker got praised for his talent, but he definitely deserved to be at that moment.

"Will you take this, senior?" Alex asked, still holding onto the Battle Mimicry Artifact.

The War God looked at it for a moment before giving a dismissive gesture. "Keep it for now. Since my Grandmaster seems to be using it with your beast, I would like you to keep it and let them use it. It is not so great an artifact that you need to return it immediately."

Alex shrugged and took the artifact back.

"Grandmaster," the War God said, turning toward Battlesage. "If you don’t mind, I have a lot of questions for you, and I wish to get to know you better. Would you mind following me back to my courtyard?"
