Chapter 3434: Pioneer
Chapter 3434: Pioneer
Alex was happy that the Beast God seemed to accept his explanation fully, without much doubt on her end. Surely she had some questions, but she was keeping them all to herself. He couldn’t help but wonder if this had something to do with Half-Gods being an open secret that the others weren’t allowed to spread openly. Perhaps asking Alex would be the same as attempting to figure out more about the Half-Gods, and that would be problematic for her in the end.
“Well, I hope you will do well with these insects then, since we all clearly failed,” the woman said.
“I was hoping to ask you about it actually,” Alex said. “Do you have any idea how long I’ll have to wait before they’re done developing?”
Soulmother let out a laugh. “If I had that answer, it would mean that I had successfully developed them. And you know I didn’t do that.”
“…right,” Alex said with some disappointment. “How long did you continue for before you gave up?”
“Some 2 decades,” the woman said.
“2 decades?” Alex asked, very much surprised by the time period. Given that Blueflake’s cicadas were ready in just 3 months, he had expected a similar timeframe to be the case. But he had never expected it to be over 2 decades.
“It might be longer. I can’t tell you since I never got to the end,” the Beast God said. “However, it might also be less since I could only afford to feed them infrequently, while I assume you’re providing them with plenty of blood.”
“I don’t think they’re lacking in blood,” Alex said.
“Then it might be sooner,” she said. “Honestly, you’re in a territory where no one in recorded history has been before. As such, you’ll have to be the pioneer for others in this instance.”
Alex nodded. “I’ll find out everything the hard way then.”
The woman nodded. “In the meantime, I can help you with some other things. For starters, the date for your visit to the Jade Lotus Continent has been set. You’ll be leaving there in 2 months’ time, and you’ll be staying in 3 lotuses in total over the course of 3 months. 1 month each.”
“Oh! Thank you so much for that,” Alex quickly said. “I had thought I was only going to receive a single chance.”
“I managed to fit in 2 more after trying a bit. Since you’ve bonded with the Pillbugs, you’ll definitely be needing them.”
Alex hadn’t the faintest clue if that was true or not. He didn’t even know if the lotuses would help him in any way. But since the Beast God was allowing him a chance to use something so beneficial in the normal case, he would happily take advantage of it.
It was clear that she was only doing this either because he was a Half-God or because she believed him to be the so-called ’Savior.’ In either case, he was willing to take all the positive attention he was gaining from her.
“Regarding your second ask, I’ve searched around for a bit, and I think the Wine God might be able to help you with it,” the Beast God said.
Alex narrowed his eyes. “My second ask?” He didn’t remember asking the Beast God anything else.
The Beast God gave a confused look. “You asked for some place where you could establish a new village, didn’t you? Senior Bladedance said you had requested something like that, so I began searching for it.”
“Oh! Yes, I do need that,” Alex quickly said. “You found it on the other continent?”
“Yes. Since the Holy Beast Continent is a mixture of both humans and beasts, I was a little worried that you might want some place where only humans lived, so I had the Wine God’s people prepare a place for you. You can visit it after you are done with the Sacred Jade Lotuses.”
Alex let out a deep sigh. “Thank you, senior. You have no idea how big a problem you’ve solved for me,” he told her.
The woman couldn’t help but smile. “I don’t know what you need them for, but I’m glad to be of some help.”
Alex chatted with the Beast God for some time, learning some more about both the palace and the continent. He also learned about her beetles, which were apparently a variant of the Man-eating Golden Beetles, but instead of eating objects and flesh, they ate aura and turned it into Qi, not dissimilar to what the World Tree did.
They were incredibly slow at doing that, however, and stored a lot of the energy themselves to grow and reproduce. Otherwise, they would have been a critical step in restoring all the Qi that was lost in the world in other forms.
The Beast God had apparently thought of it when she chose those beetles, but due to how difficult it was to get them to reproduce, she sadly hadn’t had enough to place in the Hall of Insects.
She did ask if Alex wanted the beetles too, but he didn’t take them. There was no point in taking insects to do the one thing his body did without him even having to think about it.
Alex could easily eat what the beetles ate and immediately turn it into Qi. And it would be pure Qi too, and unlike the insects, he wouldn’t hoard it. If there were more of him, the world would’ve long since returned to normal.
Sadly, only Shumi could be compared to him, and even then her body did things differently.
After a long talk, Alex finally took his leave. However, before he could go, the Beast God had a request.
“Since you have some time before we leave, would you mind making some pills for our disciples?” she asked. “A lot of them have realized who you are and have been voicing their hopes of getting you to make a pill for them.”
“Is that so?” Alex asked, not having expected this. He shrugged. “That’s fine. I can make some pills for them. When should I start?”
