Chapter 2987: Healing
Chapter 2987: Healing
“There is nothing that can be done if we don’t get our hands on the Azure Dragon’s blood if we want to return Pearl his bloodline,” Bai Jingshen said. “Blood Essence would certainly be better, but in its absence, we need their blood, one way or another.”
Alex narrowed his eyes. “It sounds like you’re suggesting ideas beyond just what would be righteous.”
Bai Jingshen grinned. “As I said, one way or another.”
Alex scratched his chin. “Do you suggest blackmailing? Or do you suggest attacking the Azure Dragons to take away their blood?”
“Whatever is needed,” Bai Jingshen said.
Alex nodded. “But wouldn’t they alert the others to what is going on? They might punish us if we did that, instead of letting us freely use the pool.”
“Well, that is true too,” Bai Jingshen said with a sigh. “We could use the bloodline of weaker beasts that have no connection to the Azure Dragons, it would be great too. Alas, the chances that you can evolve with them would be far too low.”
Bai Jingshen looked to the side. “If only there was a way to use the blood of the weaker beasts to gather and refine it to form the Azure Dragon’s bloodline, we could do so. But I fear such a thing isn’t possible.”
Pearl glanced up. “Is it not? What about those earrings? Can they not do that either?”
Bai Jingshen chuckled a little. “My earrings aren’t things that can do anything you want. They have special features meant entirely for me. Or at least, what my master thought I would be needing.”
Alex didn’t speak up, but a thought did revolve deep within him. Was it really not possible to refine bloodlines to make them stronger? Wouldn’t that be no different from making a pill from a bunch of ingredients, getting rid of what would be unimportant, keeping only what was wanted?
He had already thought about improving Blood Beasts in a similar fashion. What if he tried out the idea?
It would take some time, but surely he had the time to do that. At this point, there was nothing else to do in terms of learning something new.
“There’s another issue,” Bai Jingshen said. “An issue we must try and fix as soon as we can.”
Alex looked up. “What issue?”
“Pearl’s soul,” Bai Jingshen said. “We need to find some treasure to heal it.”
Neither Pearl nor Alex understood what Bai Jingshen was talking about.
“My soul isn’t wounded, Grandpa,” Pearl said.
“Yeah, he’s fine. What is there to heal?” Alex asked.
“He’s not fine,” Bai Jingshen said. “He’s fine in the same way an amputee would be fine without a limb. Sure, the wound has healed fully, but an entire section of it is gone forever. Even when he fully heals, that amputated section will never return. We will need to find a way to bring that section back.”
Alex’s eyes slowly raised as he understood Bai Jingshen’s meaning.
Pearl, as a child, had lost both his bloodline and Spirit Root permanently, which had left permanent damage to his spirit. Even when fully healed, that one damage could never be healed.
He had grown accustomed to his current spirit and thought of it as full, but the truth was, it wasn’t full. There was a part of him that was still completely missing.
“Isn’t that just what I’m missing because I lack the bloodline, Grandpa?” Pearl asked. “If I ever get it again, won’t I regain it?”
“The chances of that happening are low,” Bai Jingshen said. “If we had dealt with it quickly, like we had when you nearly lost your White Tiger bloodline, your spirit would know where to grow back from.”
“However, because you have lived and even evolved while missing the Azure Dragon bloodline, your spirit considers itself complete. No matter how much we try to heal it, it will never change.”
Pearl frowned. “Okay…” he said slowly. “Then what do we do?”
“That… I do not know,” Bai Jingshen said. “Maybe there is a pill that can be used?”
He looked toward Alex.
“I do not know of any pills that can do that,” Alex said. Even as he did so, his mind had already wandered away in thought. “But there may be something that can be done.”
The knowledge carved into his mind wriggled around like worms, each vying for his attention, claiming they could be of help.
Alex would have to take his time going through them all, but he was certain there was something in there.
The Book of Boundless Healing truly healed everything.
“Give me some time,” Alex said. “I’ll see what I can do.”
Afterwards, the three continued talking about what each one of them was ready to give up in order to gather some blood for Pearl.
They didn’t want to give away the fruit, but Alex had other valuable items too. He just needed to find ones that were desperate enough to buy it.
Their conversation came to a sudden halt when they heard a knock on the door. Alex, who was closest to the door, responded to the knock.
“Dear guests,” one of the guards said from outside of the door. “You have a visitor.”
Alex turned back with a confused look. “Who is it?” he asked.
“It’s Senior Qing Lainie,” the guard said. “Youngest daughter of the Patriarch. She wishes to enter.”
“The Patriarch’s daughter?” Alex turned around with a confused look.
“Oh!” Bai Jingshen said. “Qing Tianchui’s mother.”
Pearl’s eyes widened all of a sudden in surprise.
Alex froze for a moment, finally realizing who it was. He looked at Pearl. “Should I…”
Pearl nodded quickly. He got off the bed, standing on all four and gestured to Alex.
“Send her in,” Alex said.
A few seconds later, the door fully opened to reveal a somewhat young female Azure Dragon, who slowly stepped in. She stopped a few paces into the room and halted, her eyes landing on Pearl.
Pearl gulped slowly and let out a single word.
“Grandmother!”
