Chapter 2986: Benefits of the Bloodline

Chapter 2986: Benefits of the Bloodline

“I’ve had some time to think of things,” Bai Jingshen said. “Especially in regards to how Pearl could regain his other bloodline. I wanted to wait until I crossed out this option before I brought up the other ones.” Follow current ᴏᴠʟs on novel·fire·net

Alex raised his eyebrows. “So you do have other ideas,” he said.

Bai Jingshen nodded. “Let’s see if we can ask for the Azure Dragons to sell off their blood first. Perhaps we won’t have to do anything else.”

Pearl looked up at his great-grandfather. “Will just their blood work?” he asked. “Or will I need their blood essence?”

Bai Jingshen grimaced a little. “It would be much better if we could get their Blood Essence, but we’re not going to get those even if we gave everything within ourselves to servitude. The Four Families have too much pride in their bloodline to give you their Blood Essence.”

Alex frowned. “Then the blood alone wouldn’t be as helpful, would it?” he asked.

“No, but it is all we could possibly have,” Bai Jingshen said. “Even then, the chances that they do sell it will be far too low to hedge all our bets on it.”

“I figured as much,” Alex said. His eyes narrowed a little. “I have a few things I could sell off if they were willing to sell their Blood Essence. My techniques, my pills. Maybe I could even sell off a few of the fruits from the Tree of Life. That way—”

“No, not the Tree of Life,” Bai Jingshen said. “The Azure Dragon’s bloodline is strong, but it is not worth that.”

Alex narrowed his eyes. “Are you sure?”

“He’s right, brother,” Pearl spoke up. “The only reason I want the bloodline is to be closer to what I really am. It is not such an important bloodline that we would have to sell off something so good.”

“What could the bloodline give me, really? Teleportation abilities? I already have those. A Supreme Wood Root? I haven’t needed one until now, and I likely won’t. Even if I was desperate for it, there are other ways to gain it anyway.”

Alex frowned for a moment, but then nodded. There truly wasn’t much that Pearl could achieve from having another one of the Four Families’ bloodline.

“Are those all the Azure Dragon bloodline gives you though?” Alex asked.

Pearl was oblivious to the answers too, so they both turned toward Bai Jingshen for further knowledge.

Bai Jingshen mulled over the words he was going to say before beginning. “The Azure Dragon’s bloodline gives you dominion over three things precisely. Teleportation, Wind, and Lightning. As you know, the Wind and Lightning aspect of the bloodline come from the two Primordials: the Flying Raindragon and the Roc.”

“As for the Space aspect, it comes from their blessing. It is what allows them to teleport, and what allows them the power to understand Spatial aura.”

“There are dozens of techniques that the bloodline gives you, a decent amount of which a regular Azure Dragon cannot access. Only someone like the Patriarch would likely have access to every technique, but even that is something I doubt.”

“From a physical perspective, the main thing you would want from the bloodline is their scales. The Dragon scales are metallic in nature and are considered to be one of the greatest materials in creating most treasures. The stronger the bloodline, the better the scales.”

Bai Jingshen thought for a moment longer. “Aside from that, there isn’t much you can gain as an Azure Dragon. There is of course the leniency for Immortal Tribulation, but Pearl already has that from being a White Tiger.”

Both Pearl and Alex narrowed their eyes at the exact moment.

“Leniency?”

“For Immortal Tribulation?”

The two could not be more confused.

Bai Jingshen looked at the two with an equal amount of confusion before his eyes widened slightly. “Oh, do the two of you not know? Did I never mention it?”

“What are you talking about, Grandpa?” Pearl asked.

Bai Jingshen chuckled. “Did you two not know that if you have a decently strong bloodline of any of the Four Families, the time between your Immortal Tribulation goes from being 10 millennia long to 15 millennia long.”

Alex paused for a long second. “That’s a thing?”

“Yes,” Bai Jingshen said. “I must’ve forgotten to mention it. Not that it matters, since you still have so many years before any of this comes to be of concern.”

“Wait, wait, wait. You’re not joking, right?” Alex asked. “It’s really 15 thousand years long between tribulations?”

Bai Jingshen nodded. “Why would I lie? There’s a reason our Patriarch is still alive despite being over 900 thousand years old,” he said.

“I didn’t know how old he was,” Alex said.

“Then you should have at least wondered why, despite living in the Lower Realm for 15 thousand years, ruling the world, we were never forced to go through Immortal Tribulation.”

Alex and Pearl both had their mouths agape in shock. Not a single time had they stopped to consider such a thing. Now that they were, it was obvious that they should have.

The four rulers spent 15 thousand years each. At some point, they should have gone through their tribulation, but they never had.

“I think I just assumed that your oath had something to do with it,” Alex said.

“They can, but we don’t make that oath. We don’t have to,” Bai Jingshen said.

Alex and Pearl were both quite stunned thinking about the implications of what was said.

“Anyway,” Bai Jingshen continued. “There is only so much Pearl is missing by not being an Azure Dragon. If he wants to, he can go for it in other ways, but there’s no need to be gung-ho about it.”

Pearl slowly nodded. “If we can find a way, that would be great. If not, that is fine as well. Just because I don’t have the bloodline won’t mean that I’m not my father’s son.”

Bai Jingshen smiled.

Alex nodded as well. “Anyway, getting back on topic. If we can’t get the Blood Essence from the Azure Dragons, what other avenues do we have?”
