Endless Leveling Done Right!

Chapter 703: Family Talk

Chapter 703: Family Talk

"I heard you’ll be leading the Fourth Years in the fighting division of Frieden Academy, Aeris," said the King of Elves, Aerandir. "You might not be representing Faelarun Academy, but you are still an elf. You represent us. Do us proud, Aeris."

"I will, Father," Aeris replied.

Aerandis smiled before shifting his gaze to Lapiz. "I also heard that you’re the backup singer for the Singing Queen competition. Even if the chances of you appearing on the stage are slim, please do your best, Lapiz."

"Yes, Father," Lapiz replied. "I’ll do my best!"

The King nodded before heaving a sigh. His daughters had grown to be exceptional ladies. If only his wife were here to see them, he was certain she would be very proud.

"I wish your mother could see you right now," Aerindir said softly. "I’m sure she will try asking you girls to let Faelarun Academy win."

Aeris and Lapiz smiled sadly. They could see that happening.

They were sad not because their mother would say such a thing, but because she wasn’t here to say it at all.

The King had used every means in his power to look for his missing wife.

Unfortunately, Hy-Brasil was a very elusive island, and none of his subordinates could find it even after scouring the entire continent and asking the other sovereigns for help.

Even the Paragons, with all their power, couldn’t find Hy-Brasil even if they wanted to.

The Headmaster of Frieden Academy, Rowan Vademont, could instantly travel anywhere in the world if he wished.

Due to the Elven King’s pleas, he had attempted to look for Hy-Brasil many times, but to no avail.

Even the power to bend space was not enough to find this elusive island.

Aeris and Lapiz glanced at each other. Both knew what the other was thinking, and both understood that they mustn’t say it out loud.

Alex had given them a stern warning, after all. If they broke it, the only lead that they had might disappear forever.

"Don’t worry, Father," Aeris said calmly. "I believe that Mother will return to us soon."

"I also feel the same way," Lapiz commented.

"Right!" Prince Kaelen, who had been listening to the side, finally spoke up. "I believe our family will once again become complete. Don’t lose hope, Father. I’m sure Mother is also doing her best to return home."

King Aerindir nodded. "You’re right, Kaelen. Your mother is a very stubborn person. She doesn’t know the meaning of losing or giving up. That’s why I love her so much."

Seeing the sad smile on their father’s face made Aeris and Lapiz further steel their resolve about keeping Alex’s secret.

He had promised them. Promised that he would help their mother escape from Hy-Brasil.

Aeris and Lapiz weren’t supposed to go with him.

Yet, they still insisted on coming along, which made Alex feel conflicted. But in the end, he agreed. He understood that desperate people could do very reckless things.

Still, he made them promise that they would not speak of this to anyone else, especially to the King of the Elves.

"By the way, did anyone from Frieden Academy confess to you girls lately?" King Aerindir asked. "I just finished the maintenance on my sword. I am very interested in testing how sharp it is."

"There is no shortage of people confessing to sister Aeris,. Prince Kaelen smirked. "I’m sure sister Lapiz has her fair share of troubles as well."

Both sisters were beautiful ladies, and there were many bold, healthy young men in Frieden Academy.

They were elven princesses, and although they believed that they would also be marrying elves in the future, there was no official declaration about it whatsoever.

So, some decided to try their luck and go for it. If they failed, then so be it.

But if they succeeded, then wouldn’t that be the best thing ever?

Most of them confessed to only Aeris, but some confessed to both sisters.

All of them had been politely rejected by them, and these young men no longer bothered them.

Her father’s question reminded Lapiz about the latest confession she received, which was from Alex.

The only person in the academy whom Aeris didn’t want her sister to end up with because he was a womanizer, a blackmailer, and a mysterious guy whose background was completely unknown.

For those who had tried to run a background check on Alex, they all came to the same conclusion.

The young man sprouted like a mushroom within the Floating Islands of Thaloria.

That was the first and only place in the continent where he had been first seen, and no one found any clue afterward.

"Lately, someone very troublesome tried to confess to Lapiz," Aeris reported, which made King Aerindir narrow his eyes.

"Did you reject him, Lapiz?" King Aerindir asked gently.

"I-I didn’t reject him."

"Hmm?"

"But, I didn’t accept him either."

"..."

King Aerindir remained smiling, but his hand subconsciously moved to the hilt of his sword.

Seeing his reaction, Prince Kaelen immediately tried to fix the situation by telling his father that his sisters didn’t take humans seriously.

This made the King of the Elves calm down a bit. Even so, he still asked Lapiz the name of the person who last confessed to him.

"His name is Alex Stratos," Lapiz replied. "He is the president of the club I joined."

Prince Kaelen immediately spat out the fruit juice he was drinking, making his father and sisters look at him in disbelief.

The Prince had always been a model for proper etiquette and manners, so seeing him act so unusually caught them by surprise.

The young man coughed repeatedly because his sister’s reply came as a shock to him.

Truth be told, Prince Kaelen liked Alex.

At first, he didn’t. But, after getting to know him better, he thought that he was a good friend.

However! He would never allow him to become the boyfriend of his sisters!

Being his friend and being the boyfriend of his sister were two different matters!

"I’m sorry," Prince Kaelen said after he regained his composure. "My drink went down the wrong pipe."

That was the only excuse he could give at that moment in order to make his family calm down.

"I heard about this person before," King Aerindir said. "Wasn’t he that interesting human you talked about in the past, Kaelen?"

"Y-Yes," Prince Kaelen replied. "That’s the person I talked to you about, Father."

"Hmm... he’s the person that asked you for a favor, right?"

"Yes, Father."

King Aerindir lightly tapped the table with his finger.

His left hand was still holding the hilt of his sword, making Lapiz wonder if she had made a mistake by telling her father Alex’s name.

"What an interesting human child." King Aerindir chuckled. "Well, since you didn’t accept his confession, then that’s fine. You did well, Lapiz."

Lapiz felt conflicted in her heart. While she didn’t accept Alex’s proposal, she also didn’t reject him.

In short, her reply toward his confession was still in limbo.

Even so, she had no intention of pointing this out to her father because it might cause more misunderstandings.

The last thing she wanted was for the young man to get into trouble because of her mistake.

"Wait. Does this Alex person like fishing?" King Aerindir asked. "Maybe I should invite him to a fishing trip after the competition ends. That’s fine, right?"

"That sounds like a good plan, Father," Aeris replied. "Isn’t that right, Lapiz?"

"Yes, Sister." Lapiz nodded. "I heard once that Chuck and Alex went fishing together and they actually caught some of the rarest fish in the Arowana River."

"Really?" King Aerindir chuckled. "That’s amazing. Now I’m really interested in taking him on a fishing trip with me."

Aeris and Lapiz didn’t know that the fishing trip that King Aerindir was talking about wasn’t the wholesome kind of fishing.

Instead, it was the kind of fishing where accidents could happen.

Accidents that might cause someone to go missing... inside the belly of a giant fish.
