Chapter 941 941: More Privilege
—
Cedric was now allowed to invite people into the Lost Void and the Origin Heaven Continent, by the way…
This was something he got informed of by the ghost servants of the castle. It’s a unique privilege he now has after coming this far.
It’s very clear that the ghost servants are very biased to him by now. They’re practically a hair’s breadth away from completely worshipping him as their new master.
That said, it wasn’t the ghost servants that gave him this privilege. As old and ancient as they are, they’re servants, after all. They don’t have much authority here, if at all, even.
The privilege was within the rules of the creator of this castle and everything in here. Cedric merely unlocked it since he had come this far.
There’s another one when he comprehends a total of 75 Origin Laws, and that is the freedom to come and go out of the Lost Void as he pleases.
The final one was, obviously, upon comprehending all 99 Origin Laws, which is the complete ownership of everything within the Lost Void. At that point, whether he wants to open this place to the public or not will be completely up to him.
But even though Cedric unlocked the most recent privilege he got, he didn’t think much about it.
He had no plans on sending out invitations, not now, at least.
Sure, the Human Sovereigns come to his mind, and he would most likely extend an invitation to them in the far future. But right now? No. They’re occupied after all.
And yes, the human sovereigns too have clones under their control, but they can’t multitask like the way Cedric could. The overwhelming information they’d receive upon coming here might be a little too much for them to handle and might cause them to lose their way.
Obviously, that won’t do. Especially now that they’re in the middle of colonizing two chaos realms. The Human Sovereigns had to focus their efforts on that.
Only afterwards may they be able to be invited here. And even then, there’s no rush. Humanity practically has no enemies anymore, no threats that they need to handle.
Once things stabilize completely and the race could make do without the human sovereigns paying close attention to them, then Cedric might think about inviting them here.
Right now, though? No. They’re needed elsewhere and can’t afford to be distracted.
Aside from this, the other exciting matter that happened recently, if it could even be called as such, was the other candidates inquiring about how far Cedric had gone in his comprehension.
They are, understandably, nervous. Except Angelo, of course. The rest? They’re practically jumping in anxiety.
By now, they’ve more than realized that Cedric was definitely more talented than Angelo, and his comprehension and skill weren’t lacking at all. They keep pestering the ghost servants for information about him. Some even dared to promise certain benefits should they do so.
They want to know how far he’s come. They want to verify their chances. They want to know if they’re still qualified to compete or not.
If they do, then they continue. If they can’t see any chances of catching up, they would seriously start thinking about how to kill themselves to deny Cedric from getting that chance.
Not that they want to die, obviously. But staying here allowed them to realize certain things. If they were in Cedric’s shoes, they wouldn’t let him go either. In fact, they might even say ‘fuck it’ and violate the rules just to make sure that nobody would contest their reign.
Such is the truth about any succession battles. Mercy is kindness to one’s enemies and harm to their loved ones. And as a family man, Cedric would see the Primitive Universe burn first before he allowed any harm to land on his people.
That’s why they are anxious and want to know how Cedric has come so that they can start making plans. If it’s all possible, they’d fight for a chance to live. But if there’s no possibility for that, then they’d rather plan their own endings instead of having Cedric do it for them.
Unfortunately for them, the ghost servants had already shown their bias. All of them unanimously sided with Cedric.
How can they not? They knew the truth; they knew how far Cedric had come in his origin law comprehension. Comparing his progress to the other candidates’ wasn’t just unfair, it was blasphemy.
Cedric had comprehended 52 Origin Laws by now, while the close second in this race, which is Angelo now, by the way, had only comprehended 13 so far.
The difference wasn’t just massive; it was literally worlds apart.
And if the other candidates were to know this, they would most certainly begin planning their own funerals by now. Not Angelo, though. He’s safe from Cedric’s ire.
If it weren’t for Cedric feeling particularly playful in a sadistic way, these candidates would already be gone by now.
Instead, though, he told the ghost servants to tell them that, if they ask, they are to tell that they’re two to three Origin Law counts higher compared to the second place.
He even instructed them to make their act believable, solely for his own entertainment.
If they fall for it, great! They’re more stupid than Cedric thought them to be. If they didn’t, then good for them; at least all these seclusions hadn’t emptied their brain cells yet.
Truthfully, whether they do it themselves or he does doesn’t make a difference to Cedric. So long as they die in the end, he couldn’t care less which hand did it.
It’s impossible for him to let them go. If they were on his shoes, they wouldn’t let him go either. The moment he joined this race, he betted his life on it; it’s only fair to claim the prize if he wins, right?
And so, it is said to them that Cedric had comprehended 15 Origin Laws so far. The servants even told him his ‘complaints.’ Like how the more origin laws he comprehends, the slower his progress becomes, and how it’ll probably take him millions of years to comprehend all 99, if that’s even possible at all.
The servants paid attention to how the other candidates reacted to this news. And without exceptions, all of them felt relieved.
They thought that while yes, Cedric was indeed a genius, they still had a chance. A dwindling chance, but a chance nonetheless.
Although they don’t hold on to that hope too much, having made it this far made them very unwilling to stop and surrender at this stage.
Understand that they’ve been imprisoned here for this matter. At first, they were unwilling and were still holding on to hope of returning to their homes.
But as time passed—years, decades, centuries, millennia, eras…—their enthusiasm to return home has been eroded.
Because even if they could still return, after such a long time, what of it? Does anybody even remember them still anymore? Do they even have a place to return to? Would anybody even welcome them back?
That’s very unlikely, and all of them knew that.
But…if they can succeed here…
If they become the master of this realm…
If they manage to comprehend all 99 Origin Laws…and maybe even the Primordial Chaos Law itself…
It wouldn’t have mattered if everything they knew and loved were gone because they could just effortlessly bring them back. Hell, they could even jump back in time and change the future without facing consequences!
The word ‘impossible’ will be erased completely from their vocabulary. Anything they want and could think of, they can do in a snap of their fingers.
So what if they’re messing up with the timeline? So what if they’re causing chaos? So what if they want to manipulate the very fabrics of existence itself just to get what they want?
Who would stop them? Who could stop them? Who would dare to stop them?
Nobody. That’s who.
This was just one of the very few realizations they come up with after spending a long time in here. And the prospect itself was so attractive that they couldn’t help but yearn for it.
Who could resist such a level of temptation? Who wouldn’t want to reach such a level of power? Who could say no to this?
But yeah, this was what they were fighting for. They’re already knee-deep into this mess, so it’s either sink or swim at this point.
So long as they still have a chance…
So long as they could still see hope of catching up and overtaking the rest…the race continues, the competition goes on.
They wouldn’t give up while they still could.
And now that they knew that the gap hadn’t grown too much and that Cedric’s rate was slowing down, they could see hope of catching up. That was more than enough for them to keep going; they’d continue fighting for their chance and their dreams of overtaking others.
Alas, the truth is very brutal and cruel. They couldn’t be blamed; Cedric was being an asshole, and the ghost servants knew how to act.
If they had known, they’d probably choose to kill themselves by now.
