Endless Extraction in a Game-Like World
Chapter 467: Setting Off To Primordial World
Phanes stood at the edge of the gathering with golden light shining through the gaps in their celestial armor. When Caelus approached, the Divine God of Boundless Light lowered their head to him.
"My lord, you’ve gone far beyond what I hoped to see."
Caelus stopped beside them and looked back at the people testing their new strength. He could understand why Phanes saw the First Origin in him, but there was something he wanted to make clear.
"I’m not the First Ender of Origin. But that doesn’t mean I won’t look after you and the people who followed him."
Phanes’s light softened as they answered.
"I understand, and I appreciate it."
Caelus thought of the home he had searched in the Abyss. Even after reaching the Crown Rank and then going far beyond it, he still hadn’t found the parents who had vanished in that golden light.
"Sylvia told me my parents from the Abyss might be dead, but I still want you to look for them. If they’re alive, rescue them and bring them somewhere safe."
"I’ll search for them and follow whatever traces remain. If I find them alive, I will bring them back."
Caelus thanked them before returning to Sylvia. She had finished speaking to her family and slipped her hand into his as he came close.
"Well, it seems we won’t get much rest after we leave. We should spend some time together while we still can."
"Of course we should, hubby."
She stepped into his arms and rested her hand against his chest. Then she kissed him slowly enough that the remaining things on his mind could wait a little longer.
When she drew back, she kept hold of his clothes and gave them a gentle tug.
"Come with me before you find someone else to turn into a god."
Caelus laughed and let her lead him away. This time he had no urgent business that mattered more than being with her.
They found a room away from the gathering and closed the door behind them. Sylvia pulled him down beside her and his attempt to say something ended with another kiss.
For once they could enjoy being together without wondering which enemy might interrupt them. Caelus held her close as she settled against him.
Over the following days they visited their family and checked on the people training in the God Domain. Whenever the transformations outside the universe stirred, they went to watch over them together.
The cocoons grew until even the universe behind them looked small. Caelus could feel the beings within taking shape as their old limits gave way.
He held Sylvia against his side as another wave of light passed over Freya’s cocoon. Then he chuckled at the sight of all the cocoons around them.
"Not long ago we didn’t even know Primordials existed. Now they’re appearing all around us."
"You did have something to do with that."
Caelus smiled down at her as she settled more comfortably against him. He loved having her this close and wished they could spend more of their days like this.
"Once all this is over, I want to marry you."
Sylvia lifted her face toward him and the teasing smile slowly left her lips. Caelus brushed a strand of white hair away from her cheek as he continued.
"I love you more than anything in this world. I want us to have time for a wedding and a life together without always having to run toward the next fight."
She caught his face between her hands and kissed him. Then she kissed his cheeks and his forehead until he started laughing against her lips.
"I already call you my husband, so you’d better make it official."
"I will, and you can choose whatever kind of wedding you want."
"As long as you’re there, I’ll be happy."
She hugged him tightly and Caelus rested his chin against her hair. They stayed that way while the light inside the distant cocoons continued to grow.
When Freya finally completed her transformation, green light flooded the surrounding space. A vast figure appeared within it and then began shrinking as she drew her power under control.
The moment she returned to her familiar size she rushed toward them. Caelus caught her as she flung herself at him with a delighted laugh.
"Big Brother Origin, being a Primordial is so cool! I can see things so far away that I didn’t even know they were there!"
Caelus set her down beside Sylvia and kept a hand on her shoulder as she tried to peer past him.
"Then take your time learning what you can do. Don’t go trying things on people just because you’re curious."
Freya puffed out her cheeks as she looked up at him.
"What do you think of me, Big Brother Origin?"
Caelus patted her head with a grin as Sylvia drew her over to ask about the transformation. While Freya eagerly answered her, he checked on the others.
CRACK!
The Hollow King’s cocoon broke open soon afterward. His immense form filled the space beyond it before he slowly brought it back down to human size.
As the light faded, Caelus noticed that the horns were gone. The man walking toward them had returned to the human appearance of Hero Himmel.
"That form suits you better than the monster you were walking around as."
Himmel gave him a small smile, though his attention soon drifted toward Freya. Caelus followed his gaze and remembered who had once held the power of Life.
"Caelus, now that you’ve merged with the Axiom Origin... could you bring Meng Ziyi back?"
Himmel faced him as he waited for an answer. He was already a Primordial, yet he watched Caelus as though the answer mattered far more than his new strength.
"I don’t know if I can do that yet because I still have to learn how the construct works. But if there’s a way to bring her back, I’ll help you do it."
For a moment Himmel said nothing. Then he lowered his head and the words came with more feeling than Caelus had expected.
"Thank you, Caelus. Thank you very much."
Caelus rested a hand on his shoulder while the others gathered nearby. Bane and his companions had completed their changes too and were learning to contain the power that now belonged to them.
Jeffrey stood among them with the same golden armor covering him. This time he met Caelus’s gaze without that earlier disbelief and bowed as a member of the Chaos Faction.
Once everyone was ready, Caelus checked the direction left by the Axiom Origin. Far beyond their universe he could feel the current that would lead them toward the Primordial World.
Sylvia took his hand while Freya came to stand beside them. Behind them their home remained safe and the people they loved had begun working toward their next ranks.
"All right, it’s time to head out. Let’s go see this Primordial World for ourselves."
Caelus stepped into the current with Sylvia and the others followed. Together they left the Axiom universe behind and set out toward the Primordial World.
