Dungeon Miner Slave

DMS Chapter 242

At first, Flinx was worried that Penelope’s scatterbrained behavior might be a side effect of the Wish spell granting her a second youth. However, both Bernard and Samuel assured him that she had always been that way.

The problem was that her promises to grant youth to older women simply by using beauty products from Earth, which could be purchased through the System Shopping Site, were obviously untrue and could potentially cause problems for them.

Flinx told Bernard and Samuel that they would need to work with Olivia to essentially undo the damage Penelope’s promises had caused among Olivia’s customers.

When night arrived and Olivia returned from her shop, she asked to speak with Flinx privately.

Flinx knew the conversation was about the promises Penelope had made, and when their private discussion began, he found that his assumption had been correct.

Thankfully, Olivia told him that she had already managed to control the chaos Penelope’s promises had caused. However, they would still need to provide at least some of the products Penelope had told Olivia’s customers about.

“Bernard and Samuel can work with you on that. Samuel, in particular, has access to the same network I have that allows us to conjure items from our kingdom. He can provide the products Penelope promised. You’ll have to speak with Samuel about that, though,” Flinx said with a sigh.

Flinx suddenly felt apprehensive when Olivia’s eyes lit up after learning that Samuel could conjure the same items he could.

He expected Olivia to corner Samuel and try to learn exactly what kinds of products he could provide through their System Shopping Site.

Flinx shrugged internally.

Samuel was a grown man. He should be able to handle a woman like Olivia.

Besides, Flinx thought it would be beneficial for Olivia to learn what their System Shopping Site was truly capable of if some of his friends were serious about opening a store selling products from Earth.

Olivia could assist them with that proposed general store. She was a capable businesswoman and knew how to navigate the local merchant circles.

She had managed to accumulate a massive amount of wealth by selling only three types of products: scented candles, scented soaps, and mesh loofahs.

Flinx could tell that Olivia was on the verge of asking him more questions about the power he shared with Samuel that allowed them to conjure items, but he also noticed that she held herself back.

More than likely, Olivia would simply ask Samuel instead of him, since there was a chance that Samuel, who had once been her boyfriend, would be more willing to answer her questions.

Flinx wondered if he should warn Samuel, but he ultimately shrugged it off.

Samuel could handle it.

Besides, Olivia wasn’t a malicious person and had already been a great help to them.

Before their conversation ended, Flinx told Olivia that she might need to hire more servants since more people from his kingdom would be arriving soon.

Olivia said that she would take care of it.

Flinx knew that communal dining wouldn’t be practical once all of his friends and their family members had arrived in Ilioven, but they could still use the system from time to time.

The next day, Flinx received a message from Paul informing him that Arnold, his girlfriend, and his daughter would arrive at the park in an hour.

An hour later, Flinx used his Plane Shift spell to travel to Earth.

He saw Arnold waiting for him with his girlfriend. Arnold was carrying a little girl who appeared to be around four years old in his arms.

Flinx checked the surrounding area and didn’t see anyone suspicious, so he dispelled the Invisibility spell concealing him.

Since Arnold was expecting him, he wasn’t surprised by Flinx’s sudden appearance, but his girlfriend let out a small squeak.

Flinx didn’t waste any time. Once Arnold and his family were within the spell’s area of effect, he cast Plane Shift.

The next moment, they were standing beside the tree near Pondy.

Thankfully, Arnold’s daughter was asleep, so she didn’t notice the sudden change in their surroundings. Arnold’s girlfriend, however, looked frightened.

Arnold himself looked overjoyed to regain access to their transmigration system.

“Your tower is ready. You can bring your girlfriend and your daughter there,” Flinx told Arnold.

“Denise is my wife. We went to city hall and got married. My daughter’s name is Eliza,” Arnold told him.

Flinx congratulated Arnold on his marriage and once again told him that his tower was ready.

Just like the others, he handed Arnold one hundred medium-level mana stones as spending money and told him that he could purchase anything he wanted to furnish his tower.

He also told Arnold that if he needed more funds, he could simply ask for them.

Arnold thanked him.

Since his wife still looked apprehensive, he brought her to their new home so he could calm her down before they met everyone else at lunch. At least they would have several hours to become accustomed to their new surroundings.

Arnold had been the same age as Flinx when the Torbal Slavers kidnapped him, which meant he was now around twenty-eight years old.

Denise had been only nineteen when she became pregnant with Arnold’s child. Arnold had planned to marry her, but then he disappeared.

Thankfully, Denise believed Arnold when he eventually told her about the slavers kidnapping him. However, he had successfully convinced her not to tell anyone because they simply wouldn’t believe her.

During the four years that Arnold was serving as a dungeon miner slave, Denise had struggled to make ends meet for herself and their daughter, and their life had been extremely difficult.

She had grown up as an orphan, so she had no family to rely on for help. Arnold told him once that he would spend a lifetime to make up for his absence from Denise and his daughter.

Flinx thought that some of his fellow former dungeon-miner slaves had been fortunate to find partners who remained loyal to them even after several years.

More than likely, that was because they had been able to maintain communication with their partners.

Not all of them had been so fortunate, however.

There were a few whose families had moved on, and every attempt they made to communicate with them had been blocked.

When noon arrived, everyone gathered in the seating area where they usually held their communal meals.

Denise looked delighted when several of the women began befriending her.

Since they were all in similar situations, Flinx guessed that it was inevitable for them to find common ground, providing the foundation for their budding friendships.

Eliza, Arnold’s extremely adorable blonde daughter who had taken after her mother, soon began running around the compound.

Isaac looked surly when Susan tasked him with making sure Eliza stayed safe.

However, Isaac’s expression quickly changed when Flinx summoned a Wind Elemental to serve as Eliza’s nanny.

Eliza was delighted with her new magical playmate, especially when the elemental allowed her to fly around.

At first, Denise looked apprehensive when she saw her daughter being carried by the magical, almost transparent creature.

However, Arnold’s assurances and Eliza’s laughter eventually calmed her enough to accept the elemental as her daughter’s babysitter.

The problem was that Adonis, Luke, and Isaac soon began looking enviously at Eliza’s new babysitter.

Flinx summoned another Wind Elemental and told the three boys that they could play with it as well.

Soon, they were flying around too, and their laughter filled the compound.

Andrew immediately pulled out a tablet and began recording the children’s antics with the Wind Elemental. Arnold followed suit.

Meanwhile, the women began introducing Denise to the things they had seen in the city.

They told her about the strange feeling of being inside a medieval movie set, since everyone they encountered dressed as though they were wearing costumes.

The difference was that the costumes were real.

They also told Denise about how prevalent magic was in Ilioven and how deeply it shaped their society.

The funniest part came when Denise learned that the person she had assumed was the youngest among them, Penelope, was actually Samuel’s mother.

She was an old woman who had been restored to youth by Flinx’s spell.
