Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 239
Samuel sent a summary of Flinx’s tests on granting classes to the other former dungeon miner slaves who were still on Earth using the wizard’s most powerful spell, the Wish spell.
They had basically confirmed that the Wish spell could grant a class, but it would be the same type of class available to the locals. The cost of granting a class, whether to a local or someone from Earth, was putting both the Wish spell and the twelfth-level spell slot on cooldown for six months. The spell had been tested on four people: two from Earth and two locals.
Samuel had to explain to everyone the mechanics of determining the cost of the Wish spell without actually completing the spell. They were all glad that such a thing was possible since it avoided the extremely dangerous gamble involved in fully casting the spell.
They didn’t know what the cost would be if the thirteenth-level spell slot were used. That was Flinx’s most powerful spell slot at the moment, but it was currently on cooldown for three weeks after he had used it to return Samuel’s mother to her early twenties.
Everyone was surprised when they learned that the Wish spell could also be used to grant Earthlings access to the transmigration system. They tested it on four people as well, and the results confirmed that such access could only be granted to people from Earth.
The cost was steep, though.
It would put both the Wish spell and the twelfth-level spell slot on cooldown for three years, while ten years of the recipient’s or caster’s lifespan would be consumed.
Samuel told everyone through the chat system they were using to communicate about Flinx’s theory that the cost of casting the spell would be greatly reduced if a higher-level spell slot were used.
Their transmigration system informed them that the maximum level they could reach with their first class was twenty, while their second class could reach level ten. Based on what Flinx had seen, their system would grant them an equivalent spell slot every time they leveled up.
Flinx knew that his friends would be embarrassed to ask him to sacrifice the Wish spell and his thirteenth-level spell slot to grant their family members access to the transmigration system.
The best solution they could think of was to focus on leveling up as wizards once they arrived in Ilioven until they reached the level that would grant them access to the Wish spell. It would probably take them more than five years to achieve the necessary level.
Flinx had already told them how the four orphans he adopted had become wizards, which meant there were other ways to receive a class.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t test whether they could grant the system to someone from Earth who already had a class because there was simply no one in that situation.
In truth, Flinx didn’t mind using his Wish spell and high-level spell slot to grant classes to his friends’ family members, even if doing so would put the spell on cooldown for a long time. However, he thought it would be better to wait until everyone had settled down in Ilioven before offering it to them.
Mark sent a message informing Flinx that he could fetch Arnold and his family the day after tomorrow.
Soon, everyone returned to their towers to rest since it was already late.
Back in his room, Flinx purchased a large amount of snacks from his system shopping site and arranged them into four large boxes.
He would have included some toys, but more than likely, David, Arcio, Keero, and Violet’s teachers would take the toys away, probably stating that they would distract the children from their studies.
After preparing the care packages, he went downstairs and called Ambrose. He asked him to have a courier deliver the packages to the Mage Guild.
With his reputation as a Diamond-Rank wizard adventurer, Flinx was sure that no one would dare steal the care packages. Otherwise, he would summon fire and brimstone to instill fear in anyone who committed such a heinous act.
The next day, Andrew went out with one of the Rockies accompanying him as a guard to find language teachers for everyone.
Since his next fetching job was scheduled for the following day, Flinx spent the day hanging out with everyone.
The three boys—Adonis, Luke, and Isaac—kept pestering him to bring them to a low-level dungeon. They were convinced that once they entered a dungeon, the world would grant them classes because, technically, they were transmigrators.
To be honest, the boys’ theory intrigued Flinx, and there was a possibility that it could actually happen.
The problem was that Amelia and Susan would never allow them to enter a dungeon.
The fact that the boys made sure to keep their requests out of Susan and Amelia’s hearing meant that they were aware it would take a tremendous amount of effort to persuade their guardians to let them enter a dungeon.
Soon, Andrew returned with the language tutors he had found.
Both tutors were women and somewhat older. One would teach Susan, Penelope, Bernard, and Amelia, who were essentially the adults, while the other would teach Adonis, Isaac, and Luke.
The classes would be held in Andrew’s tower. When he had hired an architect and designer to design his tower, he had made sure to include classrooms for his sons.
Andrew told Flinx that the tutors had cost them quite a few pretty pennies, but their reputations were extremely high. They also had all the materials necessary to teach foreigners the local common language.
Flinx suggested that they record the lessons using a smartphone or tablet. With recordings, they could replay the lessons as many times as they wanted while reviewing what they had learned.
Everyone agreed, so Andrew purchased two tablets to record the adults’ and children’s lessons.
Flinx had to laugh when Adonis complained about being placed in the children’s class.
He kept insisting that he was already sixteen years old, which meant that he should be in the adult class.
Flinx told Adonis to think carefully about his complaint.
Did he really want to join the adult class, where he would be under the direct supervision of Samuel’s parents and Andrew’s wife, or would he rather enjoy the lessons with Luke and Isaac?
Flinx followed everyone to their classroom so he could observe the lesson taught by the tutor Andrew had hired.
He remembered the time when he had learned the language from a priest and wondered which method would prove more effective.
The two teachers looked intrigued when Andrew began setting up the tablet that would record the lesson, especially after he explained its purpose.
Thankfully, the tutors allowed Andrew to record the lessons as long as they could review the recordings once each lesson was finished.
Once the lesson began, Flinx quickly realized that the tutor’s system was more effective.
Her lesson plan was structured and easy to follow, demonstrating that she was experienced in her craft.
After a while, Flinx grew bored and left.
He returned to his tower, but a servant stopped him and informed him that wizards from the Mage Guild were waiting outside.
When Flinx asked the servants to bring the Mage Guild wizards into his tower, he was surprised to see that they were the teachers of David, Arcio, Keero, and Violet.
Their presence immediately alarmed him. He thought something had happened to the children.
However, when the wizards saw his expression, they immediately reassured him and explained that they were there because Flinx had promised to allow them to test his spells against the Mage Guild’s barriers.
Flinx had forgotten that once he sent the care packages to the children, their teachers would realize that he had returned to Ilioven.
Since he had nothing else to do, Flinx allowed the wizards to take him to the Mage Guild so they could begin testing his spell-casting ability against the guild’s barriers.
