Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 238
During dinner, Arnel told everyone that he had also chosen Wizard as his first class.
Initially, Arnel had decided to choose the Cleric class again, which was the first class that had been randomly given to him by the transmigration system. However, he changed his mind when he learned that Flinx intended to provide them with powerful elementals to assist them in their dungeon delving.
Arnel intended to provide support for the frontliners, and he had already grown accustomed to the Cleric class. However, with a powerful elemental serving as a tank, just like Andrew and Samuel had, he thought it would be better to focus on firepower so his leveling progress would be faster.
Another factor that led him to choose the Wizard class was the Wish spell.
The Wizard’s most powerful spell was simply too overwhelming, and seeing Samuel’s now-young mother was proof of the spell’s versatility and power.
The others who had accompanied Flinx during the wild dungeon delve had also described the power of the high-level spells he used to destroy the powerful monsters inside the dungeon. Their descriptions were detailed enough that even those who hadn’t participated could imagine the tremendous effects of a high-level wizard’s spells.
Flinx had also mentioned in the group chat that, more than likely, he was already powerful enough to rank up to Platinum or even Mythic in the Adventurer’s Guild.
However, he had decided not to pursue a higher rank because, based on what he had learned from other adventurers, ranks above Diamond mostly allowed adventurers to gain greater political influence. Flinx didn’t need such things.
Arnel realized that with Flinx’s powerful elementals, they really didn’t need a large group to delve into dungeons.
Adonis, Arnel’s brother, as well as Luke and Isaac, Andrew’s sons, were extremely excited and barely moved when the men began talking about dungeon delving.
They became especially interested when Samuel and Andrew started giving their family members detailed descriptions of the spells Flinx had wielded during their expedition into the wild dungeon.
Flinx laughed when he saw Amelia’s eyes widen as she began looking at him as if she were trying to find proof of his power.
Samuel’s parents were doing the same, and thankfully, Flinx’s laughter made them realize that their wide-eyed stares were probably starting to look ridiculous.
Amelia blushed when Samuel’s mother, Penelope, asked her about the two supercars now parked beside Arnel’s tower.
Apparently, Arnel had insisted on buying the cars for them after Adonis casually mentioned that both he and Amelia dreamed of having enough money to purchase high-end cars someday.
Arnel had even started making plans to teach both Amelia and Adonis how to drive over the next few days.
After dinner, Adonis invited Luke and Isaac to his family’s tower to play games on his brand-new, huge-screen television and game console.
Flinx and Samuel invited themselves along.
When Arnel saw that, he decided to invite everyone, so the gathering was moved from the area beside Pondy to Andrew’s living room.
When they arrived, Andrew said that instead of playing games, it would be better if they watched a movie.
Suddenly, Ambrose mentioned the recording Flinx had made of one of his dungeon-delving sessions on the fiftieth floor of the Dungeon of Mara.
That immediately caught the interest of Susan, Andrew’s wife, and Bernard and Penelope, Samuel’s parents. They wanted to see Flinx’s spell-casting abilities against the dungeon monsters.
The recording would also allow them to see what was inside a dungeon.
Flinx warned them that the recording was several hours long, but Samuel said that he would operate the tablet where the recording was stored so he could fast-forward through it and show them the combat scenes, which would be the highlight of the dungeon delve.
Ambrose ran to Flinx’s tower to retrieve the tablet containing the recording of the dungeon delve.
The tablet had been left beside the television in the living room.
Once Ambrose returned, Samuel didn’t waste any time connecting the tablet to Arnel’s television.
Soon, the recording began.
They quickly saw the dungeon monsters, and since it was the final floor of a Gold Dungeon, the monsters were considered some of the most powerful dungeon creatures.
Bernard, Penelope, Susan, and Amelia looked horrified by the frightening visages of the dungeon monsters.
When Flinx began casting his spells, Adonis, Luke, and Isaac became extremely excited and started shouting that they wanted to become wizards as well.
Flinx and Samuel burst out laughing when Adonis suddenly mentioned that he was disappointed that Flinx wasn’t shouting the names of his spells.
After laughing, Flinx explained to the children that a normal wizard in this world who didn’t depend on the Earthlings’ transmigration system to cast spells did have several components they needed to follow in order to cast spells, much like the rules of the most famous tabletop game.
The reason no locals questioned Flinx’s silent and instantaneous spellcasting was that high-level wizards did possess such abilities.
There were three components.
The first was verbal, which meant speaking the incantation that formed the spell.
The second was somatic, which referred to the hand gestures needed to cast the spell.
The third was material, which involved the materials required to complete the spell’s casting.
That was why the classes granted to them by their system were so powerful. They didn’t need any of those components, even when their levels were low.
After about an hour of watching Flinx battle dungeon monsters, he began telling Samuel, Andrew, and Arnel about his plan to test whether the Wish spell could grant someone a class or even the transmigration system.
Samuel paused the recording so they could concentrate on what Flinx was telling them.
“When do you want to test it?” Andrew asked.
“We could test it now. The good thing about the Wish spell is that when I start casting the spell and specify what I want, our system will inform me of the price I need to pay. I don’t actually have to finish casting the spell,” Flinx told everyone.
That fact surprised everyone.
Adonis immediately volunteered to be the guinea pig, and since there was no harm in the test—Flinx wasn’t actually going to complete the spell—Arnel allowed it.
Flinx told everyone that the first thing he would try was to see whether he could grant Adonis the Wizard class.
When he began casting the spell, the system informed him that the Wish would grant Adonis the ability to wield mana. Once he possessed that ability, he would be able to use spellbooks to memorize and cast spells.
The price Flinx would have to pay was that both the Wish spell and the twelfth-level spell slot he was using to conduct the test would be placed on cooldown for six months.
He then tested the same spell and conditions on Ambrose and received the same information.
Flinx stopped casting the spell and told everyone the results. The outcome was the same even when he tested it on Ambrose, who was a local.
Ambrose didn’t even realize that he had become a guinea pig.
After that, Flinx tested whether he could grant Adonis access to the transmigration system.
He was extremely surprised to learn that the Wish spell could actually do such a thing.
The problem was that doing so would place both the Wish spell and the twelfth-level spell slot on cooldown for three years.
Furthermore, ten years of lifespan would be required to complete the spell.
The system informed him that the lifespan could be taken from either the caster or the person receiving the spell.
Flinx then tested the Wish spell with the same parameters on Ambrose to see whether he could grant the system to him.
He received a message stating that local denizens of this world were not allowed to access the system.
He then tested the Wish spell with the same parameters on Amelia for testing purposes and received the same information he had received when testing it on Adonis.
His final test was to cast the Wish spell on Christopher to confirm that he truly couldn’t grant system access to a local.
The system confirmed it.
