Dungeon Miner Slave
DMS Chapter 234
All of his fellow former dungeon miner slaves already knew that the Wish spell could grant someone a second youth, but seeing it happen firsthand was still something that could take one’s breath away.
When they had been having dinner in the gathering area beside Pondy, Andrew and his family had been having a pleasant conversation with Samuel’s parents. So, when Andrew saw the old woman he and his wife had been talking to suddenly become young and beautiful, it was understandable that he was taken aback.
Flinx laughed when Samuel’s father stepped forward and blocked his wife from Andrew’s view. Andrew had stared at Samuel’s mother for a little too long, which probably made Samuel’s father jealous.
“Sorry about that. Even though I knew the Wish spell could produce such a result, seeing it happen is still something else. I imagine celebrities on Earth would pay a fortune to achieve something like this,” Andrew said.
“We do have an issue, though. I didn’t think the spell would produce such a reaction by gathering such a huge amount of mana. I’m sure we’ll receive visitors in a few hours,” Flinx told them.
They were greatly mistaken.
After only a few minutes, one of the servants knocked on Samuel’s door and informed them that visitors from the Adventurer Guild and the kingdom had arrived.
Flinx, Samuel, and Andrew went to the compound gate to see who had arrived. Flinx was relieved when he recognized three of them.
They were Semanor, Ranulf, and Elizabeth.
The others looked like government officials, so they were probably representatives of the kingdom’s governing body.
Semanor was the Platinum-rank Shield Warrior who had conducted Flinx’s Diamond-rank advancement test, while Ranulf and Elizabeth were the Diamond-rank Warrior and Diamond-rank Wizard who had been assigned to be his party members.
Flinx invited the group into his tower. As they walked, he noticed that they were admiring the beauty of the compound.
If Flinx were being honest, the towers and foliage, all designed with the elven aesthetic from The Lord of the Rings films, were truly gorgeous. The colors of autumn had made the plants even more beautiful, adding to the overall appearance of his home.
When they entered Flinx’s tower, he saw that Samuel’s parents, Andrew’s wife, and Olivia were already waiting for them. They had also prepared tea for their guests.
Once everyone was seated, Flinx spoke first.
“I know why you came. You probably felt the huge amount of mana gathering in our compound,” Flinx told them.
He then explained to the three powerful adventurers and the government officials that he had cast a spell that turned Samuel’s mother young.
Since she was present and they could clearly see that she had indeed become young, standing beside an older man who probably looked like her grandfather but was actually her husband, they realized that Flinx’s spellcasting had succeeded.
When Flinx saw the reactions of Semanor, Ranulf, and Elizabeth to his ability to cast such a spell, he thought that he might have made a mistake.
He had assumed that the Wish spell was something common among powerful people and that someone like Semanor and his friends would have encountered similar magic before.
But the fact that all three of them looked genuinely stunned made Flinx nervous.
Still, he couldn’t keep such an ability a secret, especially if he intended to use it frequently in the future.
“How often can you cast that spell?” one of the men who had introduced himself as a member of the kingdom’s governing body asked.
“As you know, such spells cost a fortune to cast. Samuel’s parents spent quite a fortune gathering the materials necessary for me to cast it. I wouldn’t be able to cast it again, at least not within the year,” Flinx lied.
Samuel’s parents’ reactions might have given them away, but thankfully, Samuel managed to block the visitors’ line of sight by filling their cups with more tea.
The problem was that the people accompanying Semanor and his party members continued asking questions about the spell that could turn someone young.
Eventually, Flinx had to tell them that he was magically bound from sharing the details of the spell with people who were not from his country.
Thankfully, Andrew and Samuel backed him up.
Flinx noticed that this made the government officials look at them with obvious disfavor.
Once their visitors left, they returned to Flinx’s living room to discuss the visit.
“I’m quite sure we won’t have any issues with Semanor and the Adventurer Guild, but I’m not so sure about those alligators,” Flinx said.
They all knew he was referring to the government officials who had shown an excessive interest in Flinx’s ability to restore someone’s youth.
“It was stupid of you to tell them about the Wish spell,” Samuel told Flinx.
“Hey! I didn’t tell them about the spell!”
“But you did tell them that you turned my mother young.”
“I thought it was a common enough spell for powerful people like Semanor and his friends. I guessed wrong,” Flinx said sheepishly.
Samuel looked like he was about to continue berating Flinx, but his mother scolded him for disrespecting the person who had helped their family so much.
Flinx gave Samuel a taunting smile, and the man merely sniffed.
“So, can you turn anyone young?” Olivia suddenly asked.
“I guess so. Casting such a spell would put the spell slot on cooldown, and it would be a while before I could cast it again. Why are you asking?” Flinx asked.
“Well, I’m hoping that once I’m old, you can make me young again,” Olivia said.
Since Olivia was only a couple of years older than Flinx, he didn’t bother answering. He simply rolled his eyes at her.
Andrew’s wife kept staring at Samuel’s mother. She still couldn’t believe that such magic was possible.
Flinx heard Andrew whisper to his wife that this was one of the reasons he wanted them to move to Ilioven, where such powerful spells were possible.
Andrew looked pleased when his wife absently agreed with him.
Flinx could imagine that Andrew’s wife was probably thinking that if a spell capable of restoring someone’s youth existed, then perhaps anything was possible in this world.
The discussion then shifted toward what other spells could do.
Andrew and Samuel told their family members about their adventures in the dungeons and the wild dungeon where the magic items they were wielding had come from.
They gave detailed descriptions of the spells Flinx had cast to destroy the dungeon monsters.
Flinx knew that Andrew and Samuel’s family members were beginning to realize that they were no longer on Earth.
Flinx asked Samuel to tell Paul and the others about everything that had happened that day, and Samuel said he would handle it.
Olivia reminded them that they needed to settle their family members’ identity registrations.
At first, Flinx suggested that it might be better to wait until everyone had arrived before handling the paperwork, but Olivia disagreed and suggested that they take care of it as soon as possible.
Andrew and Samuel agreed with her and planned to bring their family members to the appropriate office the following day to complete their registrations.
Flinx summoned a couple of Earth Elementals that looked identical to the Rockies guarding Olivia and her shop.
However, he had to use a twelfth-level spell slot because his thirteenth-level spell slot was still on cooldown.
The Earth Elementals still looked extremely powerful, and more than likely, the two of them would be enough to protect Andrew, Samuel, and their families while they handled the registrations the next day.
Their discussion continued until late that night. They only stopped when Samuel’s father fell asleep.
Samuel’s mother, however, remained energetic.
The sight made everyone’s eyes light up because it proved that Samuel’s mother had truly regained the energy of a young woman.
