Chapter 625: WE WILL NOT LOSE!!
Chapter 625: WE WILL NOT LOSE!!
"Took her long enough."
Morvain heaved a sigh of relief as she looked at the vines that were starting to cover the entire battlefield.
As the enemy warriors and beasts charged forward, the vines appeared in front of their feet, like always, the enemy never cared, they rushed forward, this time however, that worked against them.
Because the moment they moved forward, they pulled the vines harder, so the vines tightened and... they fell.
Now the enemies did try to break the vines by force, however, the moment their bodies fell on the ground, where these vines were, the vines started covering every part of their bodies like snakes.
Let alone resisting and trying to break through, the vines made it so the enemy couldn’t even move, not allowing them to generate any physical force at all.
And with the vines tying these enemies down—
Pierce Pierce Pierce
The Alliance soldiers only had to pierce their vitals with their blades, ending their lives.
And the same thing repeated over and over and over, one beast lowered its head and charged with all its might, three vines wrapped around its horns, two wrapped around its front legs.
The beast kept pushing, the vines stretched, the beast’s own momentum threw it into a group of enemy warriors, the entire group fell together, there were even some Alliance warriors in the mix.
But as if the vines had their own eyes, they only wrapped around the enemies, letting the Alliance warriors stand up and kill the trapped enemies.
For the first time since the Gate had fallen, the enemy advance truly stopped.
The Alliance Warriors couldn’t believe it.
Just... what were these vines...?
"General...?"
One of the Sky Kingdom Soldiers turned towards Aurelia with a surprised frown on his face, Aurelia, however, was confused as well.
She could tell this was Magic from a High-Ranking Mage but...
Something wasn’t right.
Yes, Mages were called weapons of mass destruction in War, this was the reason many Kingdoms cultivated them, it was also the reason Xenthalor, the Magic Empire, was as strong as it was.
But...
Mass destruction...
That is what Magic is capable of.
However this...
This was no ’Mass destruction’, it was...
It was selective destruction on a... mass level.
It was something Aurelia had never heard or seen before.
How come the vines weren’t targeting the Alliance Soldiers? What was even more surprising was that even if some Alliance men got tangled in the vines by sheer mistake, the vines instantly moved away, freeing them.
Did all these vines somehow know who the enemy and ally were?
Just...
What kind of spell was it...?
Was that even possible!?
"Is that... her? The Drakthar Princess?"
Another soldier questioned, her eyes blinking in shock.
Aurelia turned towards her, then she thought of that possibility and she couldn’t help but be awed.
Yes, Lavinia was known for her monstrous magical ability and genius. Before everything happened to her, even the Magic Empire had acknowledged her talent and publicly admitted she would take Magic much further than any other Mage had done in the history of Nerathis.
The Magic Empire even re-established a trade treaty with Drakthar, making it more favourable for Drakthar, just so they could remain in touch with Lavinia and the new Magic she discovered.
That was the potential Lavinia Dragonborn had.
But...
Magic that only targeted one particular group...?
Even for Lavinia, Magic so specific shouldn’t be possible.
But—
"Soldiers of the Alliance."
That was when a calm, authoritative voice was heard.
It was Lavinia.
And she wasn’t screaming, she didn’t have to, the wind itself was carrying her voice, making sure every single person fighting for the Wall heard her.
"The Enemy does not feel pain, neither do they fear death.
Their understanding of what’s happening around them seems to have been warped with a foreign, unknown dark magic, in the state they are in—
They only understand one thing.
Killing us and then the people, our families whom we are trying to protect."
Lavinia began explaining the situation after observing it for a while. The soldiers heard her, the Translators began translating her words.
Lavinia waited, then, once the people were ready, she spoke what was more important.
"Understand that their current state of mind is not their strength.
They are nothing but mindless men marching towards us.
They do not understand tactics, neither do they understand War, and we are going to use it against them."
Lavinia then paused for a moment, letting the Translators do their work then—
"We are going to benefit from their mindless state. I will hinder their movements with the simplest possible methods, you target their vital points.
Kill as many as you can.
We will not lose."
She announced and the next instant—
"WE WILL NOT LOSE!!"
The soldiers screamed.
The vines didn’t stop either, they continued to move, searching for their prey. An enemy rider tried to leap over a fallen beast, the vines caught his ankle mid-air, he instantly lost his balance and fell.
A Velmourn Spear took his life.
The same thing repeated again and again, an enemy rushed towards a wounded warrior and slipped, then, he was killed by the soldiers surrounding him.
Because of how simple-minded these people’s movements were, predicting where they would go next seemed like a child’s play and that was exactly what Lavinia was doing.
She calculated their pace, how big their steps were, then, her vines moved accordingly, using just enough energy to make them lose their balance, and after that, the enemy’s own momentum worked against them.
They slipped, lost their balance, or directly fell on the ground, that was all Lavinia needed to do, the soldiers on the battlefield did the rest.
Lavinia’s magic alone changed the Alliance Warriors’ attitude more than Morvain’s, Gruumak’s, Korvath’s and other Leaders’ solo performances had.
The enemy was still terrifying, but now, they had some sort of explanation.
And because they were no longer facing an unknown, and they could actually see a glaringly obvious weakness the enemy had, their morale rose.
Many soldiers started using different tactics to take down the charging opponents, taking down even those the vines could not yet reach.
And as more and more people began killing the charging enemy—
"WE WILL NOT LOSE!!"
"WE WILL NOT LOSE!!"
"WE WILL NOT LOSE!!"
The chants became stronger.
The battlefield was shifting.
