Chapter 624: Took her long enough.
Chapter 624: Took her long enough.
"KILL THEM!!"
"KILL THEM!!"
"KILL THEM!!"
With Morvain’s arrival, the Alliance Soldiers chanted without pause, every time they pushed an enemy to the ground, every time they beheaded him, any time they pierced through his body—
They chanted.
Faced with such a strong army with such strong morale, any enemy would falter, their hearts would feel the pressure their roars produced—
These enemies, however, were different.
They didn’t care about the Alliance Troops’ chants, they continued to move with the same smiles, as if they couldn’t even hear them.
They were relentless, they weren’t pushed back even when Morvain slew tens of them moments after she joined the battlefield, instead, they pounced at her with even bigger smiles, enough to start overwhelming her with numbers.
And it wasn’t just Morvain, the rest of the Alliance Side soldiers faced the same, the enemy came, their relentless attacks pushed the line back, the shield formation bent.
The Stonefangs had killed many, but even they were being forced to retreat step by step.
"KILL!!!!"
Gruumak stood at the centre of the bloodiest part of the battle, his weapon smashed into a beast’s skull, the beast fell right at that instant, its blood splattered everywhere.
Another beast jumped at him, but the Stonefang Chief caught its jaw with one hand and drove his axe into its throat with the other.
"KILL!!!"
He roared again in his rough Stonefang Tongue.
That was when an enemy rider leapt onto his back and pierced his shoulder with a dagger.
"RRAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!"
Gruumak growled in pain, but he didn’t stop, almost as if the savagery he saw here was affecting him, he grabbed the rider by the hair and threw him into the ground.
Then, without waiting, he stomped the enemy’s head with his boot and... the enemy’s head was crushed under the heavy pressure.
Dead.
But even in death, even when his body no longer had any life, the enemy rider still smiled.
It was an oddly unnerving smile that made even Gruumak frown.
"What... are these things?"
He couldn’t help but question, but no one here could answer his question, after all, no one had an answer.
Gruumak knew that, so instead of wasting his time, he continued fighting, tearing down as many enemies as he could so he could make up for the difference.
On the other side, Korvath had jumped down the wall and joined the battle as well, his own beasts were already participating at other ends, two were in the sky, facing the enemy Sky Unit.
Right now, he was alone.
A beast tried to rush past him, Korvath stepped into its path and struck its head from the side, the beast stumbled, Korvath attacked again and the beast’s skull cracked.
After the next strike, the beast fell, no longer showing any resistance.
"Keep the shield line intact!"
Korvath ordered, looking around the battlefield as he slashed down enemies as well.
"YES!"
Kayden screamed, he was originally supposed to be part of the Sky Unit, but seeing the situation, he had no choice but to come down to reinforce the Ground Unit and right now—
He was doing everything in his power to help and ease the pressure of the Shield Line.
He didn’t go for any enemy he saw, he specifically targeted those who had become too big of a threat to the Shield Lines, those who were too close to breaking, he dealt with them all in one swift motion.
He had actually taken out two Eighth Stage Warriors till now, he had attacked them from behind, yes, but considering how... wrong this battlefield was...
Those numbers meant many things.
The bloody battle continued just like that.
A rider fell, a beast screeched in pain, a shield broke, creating an opening in the shield line, someone shouted for a medic, someone shouted for new shields.
Above, a few soldiers on the Wall were still fighting the remaining beasts that had climbed up, stabbing them with spears, hooking them, tipping their balance, doing everything in their power to kill or throw those beasts back so they could go down and participate in the real battle.
The Sky Unit was having a difficult time as well, the enemy was stronger, plus, many warriors in the Sky Unit had to constantly split their focus between the sky battle and the one on the ground.
As the Strongest Unit, they needed to make sure other Units weren’t completely overpowered.
All in all, despite their best efforts, despite fighting together much better than the Alliance Leaders were initially expecting—
The Alliance was losing.
The shield lines were pushed back constantly, the third hole was made in it just a few moments ago, enemies were pouring down and while the spearmen were taking care of them, making sure that no enemy moved past them—
The battle was still bloody, the Alliance Warriors were being killed, things were looking bad—
And just then—
The ground moved.
No, more accurately, something inside the ground moved.
Green lines burst out from under the snow and they rose.
Hundreds of thousands of vines, it was an odd sight, something that shouldn’t be possible, but right now, the impossibility of an event was the last thing the Alliance Army cared about—
What mattered was what these vines were doing—
They targeted the enemy.
These vines wrapped around enemy ankles, enemy wrists, beasts’ legs, horns, weapons, anything that would restrict their movements.
And the moment these vines appeared, something changed.
The beast that was about to break through the shield lines and move past the soldiers suddenly fell down because the vines caught its front legs, making it fall using its own momentum against it.
The beast flipped, crashing into the snow face-first with a force so strong that its neck cracked, the rider sitting on it flew over and his body folded in half.
The soldiers stabbed both the beast and the rider, making sure they would never stand again.
And this didn’t just happen here—
These vines—
They covered the entire battlefield.
And the moment Morvain saw them.
"Took her long enough."
She heaved a sigh of relief as she thought of a certain enemy nation’s princess.
