Douluo: Seven Treasure Pagoda? I'm Actually a Summoner!
Chapter 289: Di Tian — "I’m Feeling a Bit Jealous"
Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Di Tian — "I’m Feeling a Bit Jealous"
As the night deepened, the courtyard on Sea God Island became enveloped in a tranquil moonlight.
Jiang Bai stood in the center of the courtyard; the moonlight cascaded down, casting a faint, ethereal glow upon his form.
All around him, nine-colored divine radiance flowed slowly—subtle and elusive, yet it seemed to cause the very air around him to freeze in place.
It was the majesty of a Supreme God-King; even when restrained to the absolute limit, it still inspired a profound sense of awe in all who beheld it.
Shui Bing’er, Ye Lingling, and Jiang Li’er sat before him.
Jiang Bai gazed at them, remained silent for a moment, and then spoke.
"I have ascended to godhood," his voice was soft, yet it reached every ear with perfect clarity. "Although the decision to enter the Divine Realm ultimately rests with me, there is a time limit involved; it would not be appropriate to linger in the Lower Realm indefinitely. Therefore, I intend to depart for the Divine Realm in a couple of days."
As his words faded, a profound silence fell over the courtyard.
Shui Bing’er took a deep breath, striving to keep her voice steady. "Brother Bai, we will work hard to complete our Divine Trials and ascend to godhood as soon as possible!"
She had changed her form of address—no longer calling him "Sect Master," but rather "Brother Bai." As those two words escaped her lips, they carried with them a hint of bashfulness.
Jiang Li’er nodded in agreement, grinning broadly to reveal two rows of pearly-white teeth. "Mm-hmm! We’ll do our best to ascend quickly and join you in the Divine Realm."
"Besides, we have nothing to worry about here on the Continent. In the current state of the Continent, who would dare make a move against us?"
Indeed. The Spirit Empire had unified the entire realm; although Qian Renxue was on the verge of ascending, the administrative and military apparatus she left behind remained formidable. Tian Yue oversaw the Empire’s civil affairs, while Title Douluo such as Yue Guan and Gui Mei stood guard over the four cardinal directions; the various major sects had long since pledged their allegiance.
Moreover, Shui Bing’er, Ye Lingling, and Jiang Li’er were all inheritors of divine legacies, possessing strength far surpassing that of ordinary Title Douluo. On the Continent, they truly had nothing to fear.
Ye Lingling remained silent, offering only a quiet nod. Beneath the veil of black gauze that obscured her face, her delicate features were—at this moment—etched with a complex array of emotions.
Jiang Bai looked at them and smiled gently. "Very well, then I shall await you in the Divine Realm." He paused, a glint of mischief flashing in his eyes. "However, should you ever miss me, simply whisper my name silently in your hearts, and I shall appear."
Jiang Li’er rolled her eyes at him, chiding him playfully, "You rascal! Why can’t you be the one to come find us?"
Jiang Bai laughed heartily, reaching out to ruffle her hair. "Alright, alright! The moment I have a spare moment, I’ll descend to the mortal realm to find you!"
Jiang Li’er let him ruffle her hair, narrowing her eyes contentedly—much like a kitten being stroked.
...
It was late into the night.
Shui Bing’er, Ye Lingling, and Jiang Li’er each retired to their respective rooms to rest.
Jiang Bai stood alone in the courtyard, gazing up at the bright moon hanging in the night sky; for a moment, he remained in silence.
Then, he reached out his hand and made a sweeping motion before him. Space tore open, revealing a rift; on the other side lay the nocturnal landscape of the Star Dou Great Forest.
He took a step and passed through the rift.
...
The Star Dou Great Forest—The Lake of Life.
Moonlight spilled across the emerald-green surface of the lake, causing it to shimmer with a thousand dancing ripples; occasionally, a long, drawn-out cry of a beast drifted in from the depths of the forest.
Currently, the guardians standing watch over the Lake of Life were the three brothers of the Thousand-Ton Ant Emperor clan.
The three colossal ants lay sprawled along the lakeshore, their six compound eyes glowing with an eerie light amidst the darkness.
Sensing Jiang Bai’s presence, their massive bodies gave a slight tremor, and they hurriedly cleared a path for him.
As for the Titan Giant Ape and the Azure Bull Python—they had long since become the ninth Spirit Rings for Yan and Tian Yue, respectively.
Jiang Bai paid them no mind, walking directly toward the deeper reaches of the Lake of Life.
There, a solitary figure sat by the lakeshore, lost in a trance.
Di Tian.
He was clad, as always, in his black robes, his features stern and aloof; yet, at this moment, those eyes—deep and unfathomable as an abyss—were filled with a complex swirl of emotions.
He gazed out across the lake, motionless and still—like a statue carved from stone.
A year ago, the Silver Dragon King had suddenly awakened. Her very first act upon waking was to seek him out and inform him that the Divine Spark of Creation—which had resided within her body—had vanished.
Di Tian had been left utterly stunned.
He knew, of course, exactly what that Divine Spark represented: it was the very essence of the Dragon God—the fundamental cornerstone of the Silver Dragon King’s existence.
The Silver Dragon King had informed him of the matter, yet Di Tian remained helpless.
The Divine Spark touched upon the realm of the gods—a domain far beyond his reach, for he was merely an ordinary Soul Beast of eight hundred thousand years.
He could only surmise that Jiang Bai was behind it.
After all, Jiang Bai was undergoing the Dragon God’s Divine Trials; presumably, he had successfully completed them, which explained why the Divine Spark had vanished.
However, Di Tian had no way of knowing exactly how far along Jiang Bai was in his trials.
Thinking of this, Di Tian inwardly cursed Jiang Bai: That damned brat!
Couldn’t he at least bring Li’er back for a visit?
How long has it been now?
He had always cherished Li’er as if she were his own daughter. In the beginning, Jiang Bai used to return frequently to check in on them; but now—typical!—neither of them ever came back anymore.
He sat by the lakeside, staring blankly into space, the dragon roar from the previous day echoing repeatedly in his mind.
That roar had resounded across the entire continent, causing every Soul Beast to prostrate themselves upon the ground, trembling in fear.
Di Tian, too, had felt that overwhelming pressure—a force emanating from the very depths of his bloodline. It was the aura of the Dragon God.
This sensation instantly brought Jiang Bai to Di Tian’s mind. It was possible—nay, probable—that he had completed all his Divine Trials and had ascended to become the new Dragon God.
Di Tian’s heart was aflutter with a mixture of apprehension and joy.
The apprehension stemmed from the fact that the mantle of the new Dragon God had been inherited by a human; he feared that once a human attained godhood, they might act to the detriment of the Soul Beasts.
The joy, however, came from the fact that he and Jiang Bai shared a reasonably good relationship. At the very least, Jiang Bai had given them his word: he would lift the restrictions that currently barred Soul Beasts from attaining godhood.
As Di Tian dwelt on this thought, a sense of anticipation inevitably stirred within him.
Surely, it wouldn’t be long now before he, too, would be free to soar through the vast expanse of the cosmos?
Just then, a rift tore open in the space beside Di Tian.
Jiang Bai stepped through.
Nine-colored divine radiance swirled around his form, illuminating him with such brilliance that he appeared as if a celestial God had descended from the heavens.
His eyes—now even more profound and luminous than before—seemed capable of piercing through every illusion and falsehood in existence.
Gazing at Jiang Bai, wreathed in that swirling divine light, Di Tian’s heart gave a sudden lurch.
He truly had become a god. Jiang Bai looked at Di Tian and smiled slightly: "Di Tian, long time no see!"
Hearing this, Di Tian gave a light snort and turned his head away: "Hmph! Why are you here alone? Where is Li’er?"
Jiang Bai sat down beside him, his tone casual: "Li’er is working hard to complete her Divine Trials; she doesn’t have time to come back."
"What did you say?!" Di Tian whipped his head around, his eyes wide with utter disbelief. "Are you telling me Li’er has obtained a Divine Position inheritance?!"
Jiang Bai nodded: "Yes. Is there anything strange about that?"
Di Tian took a deep breath, suppressing the shock rising within him. He knew, of course, that Li’er was exceptionally gifted, but a Divine Position inheritance? That was a one-in-a-billion opportunity.
"Which god’s inheritance did Li’er receive?" His voice trembled slightly.
"The God of Destruction—a God-King level God."
Di Tian fell silent.
A God-King?!
One rank below the Dragon God, yet still a supreme, transcendent existence!
A pang of bitterness welled up in his heart.
He had lived for hundreds of thousands of years, yet he hadn’t even touched the threshold of godhood. And Li’er—that little girl he had watched grow up—actually had the chance to become a God-King?
He felt a little envious.
He thought to himself silently.
With a sigh, Di Tian finally remembered the matter at hand and asked: "You’ve become a god, haven’t you? What did you come to see me for?"
