Chapter 288: Chapter 288: The God of Kindness

"Roar—!!!"

The dragon’s roar seemed to emanate from an incredibly distant realm; yet, wherever its sound reached, everything appeared to freeze for a fleeting instant.

Across the Douluo Continent, every living soul heard that dragon’s roar.

Deep within the Star Dou Great Forest, countless Soul Beasts prostrated themselves upon the ground, trembling in fear.

On Sea God Island, Shui Bing’er, Ye Lingling, and Jiang Li’er simultaneously raised their heads to gaze at the sky, their eyes filled with sheer shock.

The Divine Realm, too, was shaken by the resonance of that roar.

...

The Divine Realm—The Divine Realm Committee.

The five God Kings had gathered together to deliberate on a matter. Suddenly, the dragon’s roar resounded, causing the entire Divine Palace to tremble ever so slightly.

The God of Slaughter raised his head, a flicker of complex emotion passing through his blood-red eyes.

In the eyes of the God of Destruction, however, a spark of excitement flashed.

The Goddess of Life clasped her hands together, her gaze filled with profound reverence.

The God of Kindness and the God of Evil exchanged glances, each seeing the astonishment reflected in the other’s eyes.

The Dragon God—the legendary King of Kings, the Supreme God King—had returned.

Tens of thousands of years had passed; they had long since forgotten the days when they lived under the Dragon God’s dominion within the Dragon God Realm. Although they were all aware that the Dragon God’s divine seat was in the process of being inherited, the reality of his true return still left them utterly astounded.

The God of Kindness spoke up, her voice sounding somewhat dry: "Um... which of us should go and invite the Dragon God—and the Angel God—up to the Divine Realm?"

The God of Destruction cast a glance at her and replied indifferently, "Isn’t the Angel God under your jurisdiction? Why don’t you go?"

The God of Kindness: "..."

Why on earth did I have to open my mouth?!

Nevertheless, she nodded: "Alright then, I’ll go."

...

Douluo Star.

Jiang Bai sensed the flow of divine power coursing through his body—a sensation that felt truly wondrous.

He opened his eyes to find himself enveloped in a radiant, nine-colored divine glow; wisps of that same nine-colored divine power swirled around him, creating an aura of profound mystery.

He raised his hand, and a cluster of nine-colored light materialized in his palm. Within that luminous sphere, the faint outline of a small dragon could be seen swimming gracefully.

Is this... the power of a God King?

He mused silently to himself. As expected, he was more than just a single tier stronger than a First-Rank God.

He withdrew his divine power and rose to his feet. As he stretched his limbs, his bones let out a crisp, crackling sound.

Several orbs of light materialized out of thin air, hovering directly before him.

The Ascending Dragon Pillar: a column of solid gold, its surface intricately carved with nine soaring dragons, radiating an aura of boundless divine might.

The Dragon-Slaying Blade: a long saber of pure silver-white, along whose edge flowed a dark crimson glow; its blade was so sharp it seemed capable of cleaving through space itself.

The Dragon God Spear: a long lance shimmering with nine distinct colors; its tip gleamed with a piercing, icy light, while faint dragon patterns could be seen faintly emerging along its shaft.

These three divine artifacts hovered silently before Jiang Bai, awaiting his command.

Jiang Bai absorbed them into his body, forging a direct link with his divine soul.

Then, he raised his head and gazed into the distance.

The Divine Trial Space began to dissipate, and the nine-colored divine radiance receded. His figure reappeared within the bedchamber in Spirit City.

...

Qian Renxue suddenly sensed a shift in Jiang Bai’s aura. She set down her pen, and with a flash of movement, instantly returned to the bedchamber.

She looked at Jiang Bai, her eyes filled with astonishment.

Jiang Bai stood within the room, the nine-colored divine light swirling around him and radiating an aura of immense majesty and power.

His eyes—now even deeper and brighter than before—seemed capable of seeing through all illusions and falsehoods.

"Ah Bai, did you succeed?"

Jiang Bai nodded. "Mm."

At that very moment, both of them simultaneously sensed a powerful aura rapidly approaching.

Outside Spirit City, high in the sky, a beam of white light descended from the heavens.

The light was gentle yet sacred, carrying with it a mild, benevolent pressure. As the white light faded, a figure was revealed.

The figure possessed a gentle countenance, with a faint, subtle smile playing upon her lips. She was clad in a white divine robe—its fabric embroidered with intricate patterns—from which emanated a soft, ethereal glow.

The God-King of Kindness.

Jiang Bai and Qian Renxue exchanged a glance, then simultaneously flashed outward to meet her.

The three of them stood facing one another in the air. The God-King of Kindness bowed slightly, her posture respectful yet never losing the majesty befitting a God-King.

"Respected Dragon God and Angel God, I am the God-King of Kindness from the Divine Realm."

Jiang Bai nodded. "Kindness? Is there something you need?"

The God-King of Kindness replied, "Dragon God, I have come on behalf of the Divine Realm Committee. May I ask when you intend to travel to the Divine Realm?"

Jiang Bai thought for a moment. "There’s no rush; perhaps in a few days."

He had no urgent matters to attend to at the moment, so there was no need to hurry. Shui Bing’er, Ye Lingling, Jiang Li’er, and the others were still cultivating on Sea God Island, and Bi Ji was there as well. He needed to return to check on them and make arrangements for the matters that would follow.

The God-King of Kindness nodded. "Very well. We shall await your arrival in the Divine Realm."

Having said this, she bowed slightly once more, then transformed into a streak of white light and vanished into the sky.

...

Jiang Bai and Qian Renxue returned to their sleeping quarters.

Qian Renxue gazed at Jiang Bai, her eyes filled with tenderness. "Ah Bai, did you say that you are a God-King now?!"

Her own rank as the Angel God was merely that of a First-Rank God!

Jiang Bai smiled. "You are a god, too."

Qian Renxue gave him a playful glare. "I’m only a First-Rank God; I’m still a long way from becoming a God-King."

Jiang Bai reached out and wrapped his arm around her waist.

"No rush; take your time. We have all the time in the world."

Qian Renxue leaned against his chest and closed her eyes.

"Ah Bai, when will you be going to the Divine Realm?"

Jiang Bai thought it over. "I’ll wait until things on Sea God Island are settled. Bing’er and the others haven’t finished their trials yet, so I need to go back and check on them."

Qian Renxue nodded. "Then when will you be back?"

Jiang Bai lowered his head and planted a kiss on the crown of her head

. "Anytime. Since we possess divine power, we can return whenever we wish."

Qian Renxue gave a soft hum of acknowledgment.

The two held each other for a long time before finally parting.

Jiang Bai released his embrace and looked at Qian Renxue.

"Sister Xue’er, I’m heading to Sea God Island now. Once you’ve finished your work here, make sure to get some rest. Enjoy yourself—why be so hard on yourself when you’ve already attained godhood? Wouldn’t that make becoming a god completely pointless?"

"What nonsense!"

Qian Renxue rolled her eyes at Jiang Bai and chided him playfully, "Just go on your way."

Jiang Bai extended his hand and made a sweeping motion in front of him. A rift tore open in the fabric of space. On the other side of the rift lay the courtyard of Sea God Island.

He took a step and stepped through the opening.

...

Sea God Island—The Courtyard.

Sunlight streamed down, and a clear spring flowed gently.

Bi Ji sat on a stone bench in the courtyard, tending to the flowers.

Shui Bing’er and Ye Lingling were nowhere to be seen; they had gone off to complete their respective trials.

Jiang Li’er was also absent; she was likely cultivating within the Divine Trial Space.

Space rippled momentarily.

Jiang Bai’s figure materialized out of thin air within the courtyard.

Bi Ji looked up; upon seeing Jiang Bai, a flicker of delight flashed in her eyes.

"Jiang Bai? You’re back?"

Jiang Bai nodded, walked over to her side, and sat down.

Bi Ji gazed at him, then suddenly paused in slight astonishment. She sensed that Jiang Bai’s aura had changed—it had become deeper, more vast, as if... he were no longer a mortal.

"Jiang Bai... you...?"

Jiang Bai smiled. "I’ve become a god, Sister Bi Ji."

Bi Ji’s pupils contracted slightly, then immediately softened into a gentle smile.

"Congratulations."

Jiang Bai reached out and took her hand in his. "Sister Bi Ji, once I’ve finished handling matters here, I’ll take you with me to the Divine Realm."

Bi Ji’s cheeks flushed faintly as she gave a gentle nod.
