Chapter 804: Chapter 792: Little Crime-Solving Detective (22)

Archie Summers? The person she loved was named Archie Summers?

That phrase sounded somewhat familiar. Right, that Fiona Vance had said something similar. She had said, "Before, it was Mr. Summers. Now, it’s Mr. Lockwood. Not only has his status and identity changed, but even his original heart has been replaced."

Except, when he heard those words back then, he merely found them exceptionally ironic. But hearing this woman say it now, his heart stung like a thousand needles.

The old Archie Summers? What was so good about the old Archie Summers! Moreover, the old Archie Summers wasn’t necessarily any better to her than he was now.

His original heart? They all kept saying he had changed, but how did they ever truly understand him? If she didn’t love him anymore, then she just didn’t love him. Why bother telling him all this nonsense? He hadn’t changed; he was still the same person he had always been! On the contrary, the one who had changed was her. It was everyone else who had pushed him, step by step, to where he was today.

Thinking of all this, Archie Lockwood’s eyes darkened with malice, and his tone turned freezing cold. "Heh, Eleanor Bishop, do you really think I can’t live without you? I told you long ago, things between us don’t end just because you say so. And things won’t just go however you want them to!"

Eleanor’s eyes were red. She looked up stubbornly, staring unblinkingly at him.

Archie sneered, slowly releasing his grip on the woman’s chin. Every word dripped with cruelty as he continued, "Now, it’s me, Archie Lockwood, who no longer wants you. Do you understand? I am the one who scorns the idea of marrying a woman who doesn’t love me."

He wasn’t pathetic enough to desperately throw himself at an insignificant woman. He should have realized this much earlier. Ever since she took that money and left Rory behind six years ago, any ties between them had been completely severed.

Hearing his words, Eleanor’s heart began to ache violently. Her face, which was already deathly pale, turned even more ghastly. She curled her lips into a faint smile. It was as if the answer was entirely within her expectations, leaving her with no real surprise.

After all, in her eyes, it was utterly impossible for a man like Archie to ever marry her. Thus, having had no hopes to begin with, she didn’t feel any disappointment upon hearing those words.

Seeing the smile on the woman’s lips, Archie found it exceptionally glaring and mocking. He turned around, his hateful gaze landing on the servant standing outside the door, and roared, "Get Howard Rhodes over here! Have him escort Miss Bishop back!"

"Yes, sir."

Seeing the servant rush off to fetch Howard, Archie turned back and glared viciously at Eleanor. "As you wish. You can go home now."

With a cold, mocking smirk, he spun on his heel and walked out.

At this moment, Howard had already been summoned. He happened to cross paths with Archie at the doorway and stepped aside slightly to let him pass.

"Mr. Lockwood."

"Take her back," Archie ordered, casting a detached glance at his subordinate.

"Understood."

Howard’s face was stern as he approached Eleanor. He glanced down at her legs, his brow furrowing in slight displeasure. "Excuse me, Miss Bishop," he said in a deep voice.

Before Eleanor could even recover from Archie’s harsh words, Howard hoisted her up from the sofa and into his arms.

Her face drained of color in panic. She let out a scream and cried, "Ah! What are you doing?"

"Miss Bishop, Mr. Lockwood told me to escort you back." Howard already harbored a dislike for this woman, and hearing her shriek only fueled his irritation.

He wondered what it was about her that made his boss care so much. If it weren’t for Mr. Lockwood’s orders, he wouldn’t have wanted to lay a finger on this woman.
