Chapter 801: Chapter 789: Crime-Solving Little Detective (19)
Shannon Vance nervously approached Archie Lockwood, hurriedly explaining, "Archie, you’ve misunderstood me. You must have misunderstood me. Why would I admit to something I didn’t do?"
"Misunderstood?" Hearing this, Archie Lockwood raised an eyebrow, his tone laced with self-deprecating coldness. "Tell me, then. How did I misunderstand you?"
Shannon Vance shot a glare at Eleanor Bishop, who was currently playing the innocent victim in Archie Lockwood’s arms. Angrily, she said, "Archie, I really didn’t do anything! Someone with ulterior motives must have been badmouthing me to you."
She had lied, yes, but she hadn’t forced Eleanor Bishop to leave. It was this woman who had wanted to leave of her own accord! All Shannon did was offer to help treat her leg. How could this woman be so vicious? Seeing Shannon being so thoroughly misunderstood by Archie must have made that woman incredibly happy and smug.
With this in mind, Shannon Vance’s gaze toward Eleanor Bishop grew even more hostile. "Miss Bishop, I’ve never wronged you. Why must you frame me in front of Archie like this? You were the one who wanted to leave! How did you end up pinning all the blame on me?"
Listening to Shannon Vance’s words, Archie Lockwood’s arms around Eleanor Bishop tightened slightly. He had intended to speak up for Eleanor Bishop, but he suppressed the urge.
Eleanor Bishop looked up, taking in Shannon Vance’s frantic appearance. Her face was pale, and she had no idea how to respond.
"Miss Bishop, say something! Tell Archie whether you wanted to leave on your own or if I forced you!" Shannon Vance grew even more anxious when Eleanor Bishop remained silent.
Eleanor Bishop lowered her gaze. In truth, she had wanted to leave on her own. However, if she admitted that, Archie Lockwood would undoubtedly be furious. And whenever Archie Lockwood was angry, her life became utterly miserable. Yet, if she had to lie, she wouldn’t even know how...
Just as Eleanor Bishop was at a loss for words, Archie Lockwood’s expression turned incredibly dark. His cold, displeased voice rang out. "Eleanor Bishop, speak!"
"Archie, you have to believe me! Miss Bishop told me herself! She said... she said..."
Archie Lockwood’s face looked dreadful. His voice was heavy with suppressed rage. "What did she say?"
Seeing that Archie seemed to believe her, Shannon Vance hurriedly said, "Miss Bishop said that she is probably just naturally incompatible with the Lockwood Family. She said her astrological signs clash with yours, and that’s why she had to leave."
"Oh? Naturally incompatible? Astrological signs clash?"
"Yes, that’s exactly what Miss Bishop said! Archie, you must believe me. I really didn’t try to drive Miss Bishop away. The only reason I came to find you today is because my parents want to see you and treat you to a meal. I truly didn’t have any other intentions. Archie, we’ve known each other for so long. Don’t you know what kind of person I am? You can’t just condemn me based on someone else’s words."
Archie Lockwood didn’t respond to Shannon Vance’s pleas. Instead, with a chilling gaze, he glared fiercely at Eleanor Bishop and demanded, "Ha. Eleanor Bishop, are we naturally incompatible? Do our astrological signs clash? I had no idea. Since when did you learn fortune-telling, Eleanor Bishop?"
"Yes, I wanted to leave on my own. Archie Lockwood, haven’t you always known that?" He was involved with other women while simultaneously continuing to pester her. He could toy with her, but she wasn’t allowed to leave?
