Chapter 800: Chapter 788: Case-Solving Little Detective (18)

The car pulled up to the Lockwood residence. Before she got out, Shirley Lockwood, her eyes red, spat out, "Dad, you broke your promise! I hate you!"

With those words, the car door SLAMMED shut, and Shirley Lockwood sprinted toward the house.

Hearing Rory’s words and the loud slam of the door, Eleanor Bishop was taken aback. Frowning, she looked at Archie Lockwood in confusion. "Archie, what’s wrong with Rory? Is she against us being together?"

"It’s nothing," Archie Lockwood replied coolly, his gaze darkening.

Then, as if nothing had happened, he opened his door, walked around to Eleanor’s side, and lifted her out of the car.

At that moment,

Shannon Vance was still there. She had waited at the Lockwood residence for the better part of the day for them to return.

However, she hadn’t expected Archie Lockwood to return with Eleanor Bishop in tow.

So when she saw Archie Lockwood carry Eleanor Bishop through the door, her expression instantly turned sour.

But she was a woman of the world, after all. Her upbringing demanded a certain decorum, so even though she was furious to see Eleanor return, she couldn’t lose her composure in front of Archie Lockwood.

She forced a smile and glanced upstairs, her eyes full of faux concern. In a soft voice, she asked, "Archie, what was that all about with Rory? I called out to her, but she completely ignored me."

"Hah. She’s fine," he said, his expression turning dangerously cold the moment he saw Shannon Vance was still in his home. "But, Miss Vance, might I ask what business you have in my house?"

His tone was far from friendly; it was menacing in a way she had never heard before.

Shannon Vance’s expression froze at Archie Lockwood’s words. She then gave an extremely awkward laugh and said, "Oh, I was just worried. I thought maybe Rory got bullied on her first day of school. It’s a relief she’s alright."

Shannon Vance’s words only made Archie Lockwood’s gaze grow colder. He was in no mood to beat around the bush with her, so he cut straight to the point. "Miss Vance," he said coldly, "as for what happened today... I don’t have time to settle the score with you right now. So get out of my sight." ’Shannon Vance is the only person audacious enough to come into my home and kick someone out.’

’If I weren’t so worried about Rory right now, I would absolutely make this Shannon Vance pay!’

’What gave her the nerve? What gave her the right to come into his house and drive people away?!’

The smile on Shannon Vance’s face froze. Her face went white with anxiety as she asked in a low voice, "Ah, Archie, what do you mean by that? Has someone been bad-mouthing me to you?" As she spoke, Shannon Vance shot a cold, pointed glare at Eleanor Bishop.

’So much for promising not to tattle. The moment my back was turned, she went straight to him.’

’She said she was leaving the Lockwood residence for good, but no sooner had she left than she had Archie bring her right back.’

’I knew it wouldn’t be that simple. I knew it wouldn’t be that easy. And I was right.’

’This fragile, weak-looking woman is really something else. To think she actually managed to out-scheme me.’

"Hah. So you do things but don’t have the guts to admit to them? Miss Vance, you never cease to amaze me." To be honest, while he had never particularly liked Shannon Vance, he’d never despised her either.

But now, he truly found her repulsive.

’Just looking at her made his eyes hurt!’

Especially when she called him Archie...
