Chapter 4758 An Unruly Table
Chapter 4758 An Unruly Table
After dressing up in his good ol' purple robes that were new, he walked out of the bath and made his way out of the room, traversing the corridor before he made it to the dining hall.
The dining hall of the guest palace shimmered under a gentle moonlit glow, the walls reflecting soft silver halos like ripples on calm water. A fragrant mist of spiritual cuisine curled lazily upward, filling the air with warmth.
It was appetizing, but Davis wasn't in the mood to admire the feast.
'Charm…' Davis thought, his voice booming inside his head with anger.
He had never hated an ability this much in his life. Not only did it subvert an individual's Will, it also made them a love slave to the one who cast it. It was not much different from how he subverted one's Will using Enigmatic Heart Laws and made them kill themselves. However, the charm ability was subtle, embracing, and feeding one with the emotion they ached for: love.
It was an innate desire everyone possessed.
To Davis, this feeling was precious. He had all the capacity to enjoy being charmed by his wives, but for others who dared to cast it on him, he hated them to his core. It was repulsive and loathsome, trying to subvert his genuine affection.
'I swear I will find-'
Davis wasn't even done thinking when he was stunned as he arrived at the dining hall.
A delicate, hypnotic sway of fragrance swept past him.
Without even the lanterns losing power, the lights dimmed, and a figure appeared.
A woman materialized out of swirling velvet-pink haze, her body forming gracefully as though sculpted by moonlight itself. Her every movement shimmered with flowing grace filled with allure, not aggressive, not seductive, but impossibly soft, the kind of softness that seeped into souls, made hearts beat slower, made one catch breath.
She floated toward them, not fully touching the floor.
Her appearance was devastatingly captivating, her skin pale as pearl-dusted moonstone, faintly glowing with velvet luminescence. Her hair cascaded like a river of vibrant lilac that reached her thighs, each strand glittering like starlit silk. Her eyes were elongated and naturally suggestive, with a deep rose-gold hue.
Her lips, full and soft, held a faint bluish tint. Her finger was slender but seductively curvy, clad in a translucent draping robe of pink-white that wrapped around her body like whispering wind. Her head was adorned with a beautiful tiara-like crown. She gave a soft nod filled with charm.
"A human guest is extremely rare in our mountain. I heard humans appeared below the peak, but it is amazing to see one who had all the way above. Rioxys, aren't you favoring him too much?"
She cast a glance at Rioxys Plume in a teasing tone, her lips curling mischievously.
"There's nothing between us. He is my mas- benefactor's husband and also my benefactor who brought me here safely." Rioxys Plume humphed with a pout.
She noticed belatedly, "Ah, Davis, this is my friend, Laviua. Everyone calls her Fairy Velvetmoon."
"…"
Davis couldn't bring himself to smile.
As she saw her smile at him shamelessly, his thoughts became more pronounced, shouting-
'She's the one! She's the one who cast a charm on me…!'
He couldn't avert his gaze from her, every fiber of his being wanting to be enamored in her gaze. The charm she held was beyond all- for she was none other than the Moon Allure Wraith Spirit, a charm-attributed spirit!
She was a Heaven-Tier Empyrean Grade Spirit of Charm Laws, an incredibly rare spirit that had gone extinct in the True Immortal World.
Davis had obtained a manual that employed the use of this spirit called the [Velvet Moon Allure Scripture]. It was a complete Exalt Grade Manual.
"What's wrong? Did you meet a ghost before you came here?" Laviua faintly smiled.
Davis was about to retort harshly amidst the feelings of goodwill that his soul unconsciously churned out from her charming presence. However, he forcefully controlled himself and smiled coldly.
"Indeed. I did meet a ghost before I came here. It was a naughty ghost wanting to harm someone."
Davis and Laviua stared at each other.
Both knew that the former was not under the control of the latter.
Davis now understood why there was an attack on him despite all the defensive mechanisms.
'No wonder she was able to bypass the soul sense of others and even the Guardian. She was inside the damned palace, along with these other spirits…'
He panned his gaze at the dining table and saw the numerous spirits.
Who were these spirits? How could Rioxys Plume have made so many friends?
He turned to look at Rioxys Plume, "I did not hear so many guests were coming to my guest quarters?"
Rioxys Plume looked unsure as well. She realized something was wrong, but the guards of the peak had let them in, and no one struck them since their entry wasn't a violation, so she realized that they had permission to enter.
Seeing that there was a feast in the guest palace, they had entered boldly. She couldn't attack them because of the formation, so she was dealing with them when Davis shouted, so she swiftly went to see him, only to see him unharmed.
"Laviua, look after him. I'll deal with them."
Unaware that Laviua had cast a charm ability on Davis, she left him to her friend and went to deal with the unruly bunch of young spirits who were also at the Exalt Stage, clearly powerful.
Davis returned the stare at Laviua, anger swelling with him.
Laviua returned a faint smile and cast a glance at the food plates reserved for Rioxys Plume as though telling him he knew what to do.
"What a good friend you are. How did you two meet?" He started, his expression etched with a cold smile.
"Ah, don't mention our friendship~" she whispered in a voice soft like a lullaby and warm like candlelight, appearing shy, "I liked her so much when we met on an island nearby. She cried to herself, feeling all alone without being able to descend the peak, but I was forced to be a pawn. There's nothing I can do other than repay my master even at the cost of my life."
Davis's brows flickered as he thought, 'Grand Elder Catalyx or another Archon?'
Regardless of whoever it was, the hatred he felt for Laviua didn't lessen one bit.
"…"
Wordlessly, he went to take a seat in his grand seat prepared for him by Rioxys Plume.
"I told you all to leave!" She shouted.
"Heh! This is a guest palace. The only one who can tell us to leave is the guest or the owner of the peak itself. If you dare attack us, the formation will recognize you as the offender and capture you or even kill you!" A fiery spirit boldly sneered, his expression full of amusement, before turning into a mocking smile when he turned to look at Davis.
"Little human, do you want us to leave? Oh, I forgot that you hadn't even bound the core of the guest palace yet, since it at least takes an Exalt to do so. What a pity!"
He shook his head, his purple lips gleaming like the venom of a fiery serpent.
