While he thought, the black cloud rolled away from the Altar Hall.

When Davis came to himself, he was already outside the inner zone and turned left in the courtyard, heading towards a small guest palace.

After Rioxys Plume warned him not to leave the black temple even though violence was banned here, Davis settled himself here for the day. He looked around, noticing it wasn't much different than human architecture, making him believe this was designed for human visitors. He supposed that there could be naturalized Human Exalts who lived in the Shard Continent whom he hadn't met yet.

'The time I spent here isn't long… there's no way to explore it all… a pity…'

Davis sat at the center, awaiting the result like a man who was awaiting the guillotine to fall on him.

After he had talked more to the Guardian, Davis guessed that the bad intentions that the Guardian might have for him were his own imagination. The other party seemed quite disinclined to make a move, as though carrying a burden that he couldn't speak about.

Earlier, he had also witnessed a Peak Exalt swearing fealty to the Guardian.

He assumed that was an action that could be interpreted as consolidating power for the war that would erupt sooner or later.

'If my guess is right, he wouldn't want Rioxys Plume to be here when that war erupts… so he will definitely send her with me. Right now, he's just making it look like he is hesitant. However, he should be sending her away with me when night falls, the time when darkness spirits are the strongest…'

Davis tapped his finger over his thigh, thinking for a while about the tone of the Guardian's voice. As a Heart Intent user, he could figure out a few things just from hearing one's voice, but they need to be freely speaking with him instead of controlling the tone of their voice into one of indifference.

'In that case… this must mean the Guardian is losing control of the mountain gradually. Could it be that during every opening of the dimension, the position of Guardian of the Mountain changes hands? Who decides it? The spirit of the formation or the mountain itself?'

Davis had a lot of questions but no answers.

Regardless, he wasn't of the mind to go exploring these doubts since someone here could kill him just by sneezing.

He felt like answers would help him navigate these undercurrents unrelated to him, but in the end, it wasn't of use since he felt like he had already attained what he wanted.

The Guardian saw the two marks and knew not to act heavily against him. He would likely spread this information to the others in order to spare himself. Then he would send Rioxys Plume along with him, sending them both to a safe place.

Standing up, he went to take a bath after all that sweating. He felt like a simple water bath using his energy wasn't going to do the cleaning he needed this time around. Also wanting to relax, he encountered the bath and sank into the wooden tub.

"Oohhh… what a fine bath…"

Davis noticed the quality of the spirit water was extremely high, at least High-Level Exalt Grade. He felt like he was soaking in a bath of pure heaven and earth energy, allowing his body to absorb the energy from this water greedily and relax greatly.

The urge to steal the spirit water crossed his mind, but he pushed it aside, simply letting himself afloat in this paradise as he tried to rest.

Yet, images of Fairy Thunderblaze's visage flashed past his eyes, making him groan.

He shook his head, trying to keep her off his head for the time being. Consequently, he entered meditation and began cultivating, keeping his blood energy from acting up again. However, slowly but surely, he unknowingly drifted off into sleep.

Without rhyme or reason, he found himself glaring at Fairy Thunderblaze when she returned after picking up things from her room.

He flashed an evil smile.

Then, without saying anything, he hugged Fairy Thunderblaze, sealed her cultivation with a palm to her dantian, and then threw her on the bed and took her amidst her cries, ravaging her day and night to enact his vengeance.

Suddenly, he felt himself drifting again while still inside her, and she sat up to whisper into his ear.

"Oh, you are already charmed? Pitiful human, I'll help you break it if you poison Rioxys Plume and reward you with Peak-Level Exalt Grade resources. If you do it well, there is plenty more from where that came from."

"Who!?"

Davis's eyes shot wide open.

He was still in the wooden bathtub, but no one was around.

However, when he looked to the side, he noticed there was a jade vial that he hadn't previously seen. Looking around cautiously, he stood up and walked up to it, only to find a pill of Peak-Level Exalt Grade placed inside, its aura seamless and undetectable. If diluted in water, no one would be able to notice it.

"What's going on?"

Rioxys Plume hurriedly shot through the door slides and turned to look at him. Her eyes squinted as she saw him naked with a rod that faced upwards and twitched as though it wanted to pick a fight with the heavens.

Immediately, she turned around, coughing, "What's wrong? Did someone visit?"

Davis's brows twitched. Visit?

That was basically an attack, but it was not counted as one?

"Perhaps…"

Davis answered with a complex expression on his face as he saw his hand hiding the jade container subconsciously.

His body had moved on its own, making him believe someone had thrown a long-range attack on him.

He felt it was most likely a Peak-Exalt. Someone of that caliber had unleashed a charm ability on him, but they didn't go too far. Since they didn't go too far, it wasn't able to break Zenova's charm. However, their charm could've essentially taken over him, while Zenova's charm was quite the opposite, where he was able to maintain his consciousness.

In other words, Zenova's charm had saved him. If it weren't for this, he guessed it would've been an illusion attack instead.

"Don't worry. Nothing will happen while I am here. Let us go eat… I've prepared a sumptuous meal for you. If Bylai and the others were here, I might've been able to show hospitality to them too for saving me…"

"You go first. I'll come after dressing up."

"Alright." Rioxys Plume made sure to search the surroundings, but she found no one. Her soul sense didn't dare go near Davis since he was naked, so she was unaware of the jade vial that contained the poison pill.

She quickly left, searching for intruders as she continued to the hall.
