Chapter 4585: Descent Of The Death Puppet

Chapter 4585: Descent Of The Death Puppet

"..."

A pair of deep black eyes opened, and a purple-crimson silhouette sat up on the couch. It appeared to be a woman. Her long legs moved aside and dropped to the floor, embroidered footwear instantly covering her soles. She raised her head and surveyed before walking out in style.

She moved across the tent’s curtain, only to see Nadia.

She narrowed her eyes, wondering where he had gone since he wasn’t here in the tent nor the mountain cave entrance.

"Sneaking out after midnight... what’s he doing?"

Fairy Thunderblaze turned to ask Nadia.

Nadia avoided her gaze and didn’t say anything.

"Interesting..." Fairy Thunderblaze muttered under her sweet breath.

She knew if he was venturing out alone, then he must’ve found something that he didn’t want to share. However, she didn’t think he would be that cheapskate considering how much importance he placed on resources, which was very less, so she guessed he must’ve gone out to do something that she couldn’t fathom.

She weighed the pros and cons of going out now. If it turned out that he had just gone for a long walk, then her actions would be suspicious in various ways, earning the group’s suspicion or even ire.

She couldn’t afford to make a mistake, so she sighed and waited.

Nadia closed her eyes then and there and began to sleep. The meaning was very clear. Since she had woken up, now she had to be the watchful eye. She rolled her eyes and sat on a good-looking flat rock bed, waiting for dawn to shine on the world.

However, this group was so carefree and lazy. They woke up anytime they wanted, not that she was complaining, since she was already getting enough benefits because she could trade for the items she wanted, while it was also priced less because she was on the same team.

Strangely, she found it comfortable since there was no one who wanted to backstab her.

It was really a strange feeling, making her want to leave because of the comfort. It gave her a false sense of security, or was it really false?

She couldn’t tell.

"Mhm...?"

Suddenly, she sensed the air shift.

Nadia’s eyes also shot wide open. She stood up, and her hair stood on end.

They barely understood that there was a terrifying being approaching him or this mountain at high speed, causing them to shout.

"Wake up! We have company!" Fairy Thunderblaze turned around and voiced out.

Her melodious voice turned thunderous as it exploded in the tent, making everyone jolt. Perhaps it was the rumbling inside their souls, their groggy minds instantly woke up, allowing them to act as though they were awake the whole time as they jumped up and quickly exited the tent.

Fortunately, the mountain cave had multiple entrances, so they weren’t stuck there.

They turned around to leave when the mountain shook as something crashed into it.

Fairy Thunderblaze and the others froze in place.

Whatever that was out there seemed to be at Early Primarch Stage. Their countenance bled into one of bleak heaviness. Their hearts dropped, and their eyes unwittingly searched for Davis.

Unable to find him, their souls sunk into panic. Yet, they didn’t think for a single moment that he had abandoned them, thinking he must’ve gone somewhere to treasure hunt or even relieve himself since his body wasn’t in good health.

As they watched the cave entrance underneath the moonlit night, a huge beak descended past their view from the left side, and a giant eye came into view. The shape of its pupils appeared to be a silver-black waxing crescent. It pulsed in an unnatural rhythm, making one feel dread.

Fairy Thunderblaze stood at the forefront.

Horror gripped her heart as she stood like a statue in front of its terrifying gaze, having an inkling that if she moved that it would immediately attack. She was unable to understand how this lifeform could’ve possibly found them when there were so many mountain caves like it was a beehive, but landed right beside them.

How had it located them from a huge distance away? How could she not feel its senses? Why didn’t the Mystic Diviner in their group feel incoming danger at least moments away? Tia’s senses should be much more elevated than hers, even if it comes to concealed predators.

Numerous thoughts ran through her mind. They had failed to leave in time and could only wait for the lifeform to react.

Everyone could tell that it was the Eternal Eclipse Bird since Davis described that he killed one using the False Dawn Harbinger a few days ago. They also knew of its description and its unique eyes that look like a waxing and waning crescent in each eye. Its gaze alone would cause someone to fall into a panic state or simply fall into madness.

’Could it be...’ Fairy Thunderblaze wondered if that Eternal Eclipse Bird had a partner.

After all, they had seen multiple calamities of the same type. It wouldn’t be strange if these two Eternal Eclipse Birds lived together. Was it capable of sensing where its partner was?

Myria was also bombarded with such thoughts, but she prepared for the inevitable, her soul hand grabbing the piece of Fallen Heaven.

Amidst the silence, a purple-robed figure suddenly descended down the eye of the Eternal Eclipse Bird and walked into the mountain cave.

It was as though time itself was frozen, other than that person.

He flicked his sleeves, dispersing the remnant dark patches that had stuck to him over the past few days. His skin shone with a wild luster under the waxing eye’s silver radiance. His blonde haired shimmered like a heavenly deity’s.

He strolled in front of the Eternal Eclipse Bird’s gaze in a carefree manner as though he didn’t even see it.

He was about to walk past Fairy Thunderblaze, but stopped right by her side and then took a step back before he waved his hand in front of her face. He did it twice, thrice before he finally got a reaction out of her as she glared at him with her deep black yet horrified pupils.

"Relax, my undead pet ain’t going to peck you."

He patted her shoulder lightly and moved past her, spreading his hands.

"Rejoice! Now we don’t have to fear for our lives as much as before, and can even travel in the skies lightly, increasing our pace. Fortunately, the map that’s routed doesn’t have any Mid-Level Primarch existences nearby, so we should be safe the whole journey back and forth."

Davis said with excitement, but the gallery was still at a loss.

He could tell that they were stricken with fear, just the reaction he expected. He couldn’t help but smile.

"The reason-"
