Chapter 4584: Improved Grim Death’s Awakening
Chapter 4584: Improved Grim Death’s Awakening
In a garden, Davis was resting on Nadia one day.
He always spent time with her. Just because he couldn’t be intimate and she was busy nurturing her grown children didn’t mean that they couldn’t be together. He had his hands crossed behind his head while he slept on Nadia’s fur beneath the serene warmth of the moonlight. She was so fluffy that he could never have enough of her.
They conversed about many things, even reminiscing about the past.
She even said that she missed her good father, who protected the entire clan when she was nothing but a Sunset Wolf Mountain pup. She wondered if her father was there; then they might’ve been all killed by Davis.
Davis could only laugh dryly.
He wasn’t the type to commit genocide, but at that time, he really didn’t see magical beasts as fully sentient, so he might have done it.
It was only because Nadia stopped and listened that she and her clan possibly survived.
"Nadia..." Suddenly, Davis called out, "Do you miss your clan?"
"No." Nadia shrugged, "My loyalty lies with you, master. As for my previous clan, they might’ve already perished in some beast territory war or ended up in a beast tide. Still, it is none of my concern."
Davis couldn’t help but chuckle, "Don’t be so cold to previous ties. I won’t say no if you want to visit one day, just to see and reminiscence about the days you spent as a leader of the Sunset Mountain Wolf Clan. We could even go to the Twin-Tailed Dusk Wolf Clan if you want."
"Those wolves..." Nadia’s eyes squinted, "It’s been a long time indeed."
She remembered a certain King-Tier Twin-Tailed Dusk Wolf. He truly had many children. She also wished to have many children with Davis, but her intimacy was sealed because of the bloodline curse. She stopped thinking about it.
"Unfortunately, they might’ve also perished."
"It’s not a big deal. As a Deathhowl Revenant Wolf, you said one of your species’ techniques allows you to resurrect people from your bloodline, no? Wouldn’t you be able to revive the Sunset Mountain Wolves even if they have evolved?"
"Yes, but it’s not that convenient. I must be near them and revive them minutes after their death. I can’t revive them from anywhere I want, and I can only revive their soul and not their bodies."
Davis nodded lightly in understanding.
His Nadia could also use the revival technique, but it had many limitations as opposed to what Everlight could achieve. Besides, the technique she discussed was a passive ability that allowed her to revive herself from a state of death as long as her body remained intact to house her, and through expansion, also allowed her to revive her kin.
She had explained this when her children asked about her new abilities, and she said that she wouldn’t let them die no matter what.
"Say, what other abilities do you have?"
"..." Nadia whimpered lightly, "I don’t want to say since I feel it will increase the power of my bloodline curse."
"Then forget about it." Davis waved his hand, "Don’t forget to call me when you hurl your new techniques against our enemies."
"We rarely have any enemies nowadays, and my abilities are overkill since all of them end up in death."
Nadia giggled.
Davis went speechless, but he wasn’t surprised since Nadia’s species name was quite terrifying. He did expect her techniques to be more life-ending than the Nether Springs Death Wolf.
"Mhm~" Nadia suddenly blinked, "There is one ability that doesn’t end in death but reawakens the dead into undead."
"Oh?" Davis instantly became interested as he turned to look at her, "Tell me more about it if you can."
"It isn’t anything special." Nadia could hear the interest in Davis’s voice and feel it in her soul.
She supposed she could share this since he was highly interested, but wasn’t sure. However, looking at his curious eyes filled with excitement, she caved in.
"Revenant Resurgence Howl. It’s the ability to raise the fallen as long as they are killed by me and aren’t above two minor stages higher than me in terms of prowess. It’s a deadly ability, allowing me to lord over powerful lifeforms as it burns their soul essence like a fuel. It won’t last long, but I see it gets the tasks done."
"..." Davis turned dumbfounded.
This wasn’t anything special? Sure, the fact that the fallen should be killed by her was a major drawback, but he wanted to say that it was special to him! He wanted to scream why she didn’t tell him sooner.
His mind instantly spun, wondering how he could incorporate this into the Grim Death’s Awakening that didn’t have such a restriction.
"Nadia, please show me the relevant runes to this species technique! I need to study!"
Davis stood up and begged her.
"..." Nadia’s eyes darted with embarrassment. That would have him looking at her body closely. Could this be considered an intimate act?
She suppressed the emotions bursting within her and nodded. She then advised him to scour various parts of her body, letting him have her way with her.
Davis totally forgot everything else during the next few weeks. He was with Nadia day and night, devoting himself to improving Grim Death’s Awakening by studying the runes, taking only the advantages he needed while bypassing the limitations.
Those pesky bandits who appeared occasionally while he was traveling became the subjects of his experimentation.
The Grim Death’s Awakening was already amazing, but incorporating Nadia’s runes and adding his own insights would be terrific- or so he thought and ended up failing multiple times to produce an improved technique until the end of the decade.
Still, he had no use for it. He still didn’t have a use for it since his prowess was already high for supreme geniuses and the likes. On the other hand, he didn’t feel like he could awaken any Primarch-level existence, as they were too strong. Not only would he fail, but the feedback loop to control the sentience alone would cause his soul sea to collapse.
He didn’t want to use Fallen Heaven as much as possible.
However, the Eternal Eclipse Bird was different.
Possessing the Eternal Eclipse Bird’s Soul Essence, able to defend against the powerful corruption of the darkness energy consisting of the Lunar Shadow Bleeding Sickness from the feedback loop, new Grim Death’s Awakening Technique that incorporated the advantages of Nadia’s Revenant Resurgence Howl Technique, allowing it to become much more powerful enough to raise undead at the level of two minor stages higher than his max prowess and finally, the Darkness Quintessence Orb to aid him in controlling and also fuel this necromantic relationship- all of the factors aligned for him to be able to have some chance in succeeding in this endeavor, to awaken the Eternal Eclipse Bird.
"Arise~"
With the Darkness Quintessence Orb in one hand, a darkened Davis with a grim expression roared softly as he stretched his other hand out.
The Eternal Eclipse Bird shook ever so lightly as a carcass, slowly raising its head and gazing at Davis with its terrifying eyes, its Exalt-level aura erupting like a tidal wave.
Yet, the aura went over Davis like it avoided him and him alone.
The Eternal Eclipse Bird stared, its gaze filled with instinctual sentience. It recognized this strange creature that came running toward it. It inclined its head like a bird, feeling strange since it felt like it must absolutely protect him.
Davis’s sapphire eyes gleamed, realizing that he had full control over the Eternal Eclipse Bird. He willed it to never harm him, so it instinctively retracted its aura and even created a barrier around him.
He jumped over the Eternal Eclipse Bird’s head, and with a flap of its giant wings, it took off into the skies!
