Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4586: A Powerful Force To Possess

Chapter 4586: A Powerful Force To Possess

"The reason you didn’t all detect the Eternal Eclipse Bird before it hit the mountain was that I made it conceal itself. Of course, its concealment ability is nowhere near the level we want for its stage, but it will do. We can’t expect too much from it since it’s just a death puppet I control."

"However, don’t think of it as just another death puppet. It retains its ego and can recognize each and every one of you. Right now, I have willed it not to harm you all but protect if need be, so the chances of it harming us are zero. After all, it retains its ’self’ but doesn’t have its own Will to think for itself other than to finish the orders I have given and reason along that line according to its intelligence. You could say that it’s more like an artificial intelligence with a set of rules that it has to protect."

Davis knew that Mingzhi would’ve definitely spoken about artificial intelligence. He remembered her comparing artificial intelligence to the stone race that were literally rock lifeforms, yet they had natural souls like any other race, so that they couldn’t be termed as artificial.

He spoke without a stop, filled with excitement, but Myria and the others were still dumbfounded.

They were speechless. They looked at Davis, wondering if he was some other person. He no longer had the sickness either. However, it was definitively Davis as she could feel him at a soul level. She was of the idea that their innate connection, which held a great attractive force, couldn’t be faked even with illusion.

"This... This is the new Grim Death’s Awakening...?" Nadia’s jaws dropped as she turned to look.

Davis had fooled her by hiding the pact, causing her to be also stricken with horror. She almost thought she was going to die.

"Thanks to you, Nadia." Davis nodded.

Without Nadia, the new Grim Death’s Awakening wouldn’t have been so versatile and powerful.

If he used Fallen Heaven in tandem with the black-white stone, he could have done it without requiring so many factors to complete, but the black-white stone was unusable here, and using Fallen Heaven was utterly dangerous in this world.

Here, the fabric of fate was much more powerful, probably even more restrictive than the Greater Realms. Otherwise, he felt there wouldn’t be so many of those mystical creatures lurking here, waiting for a Mystic Diviner to make even the slightest mistake in their divinations or even go overboard with their divinations so they could devour them whole in the form of backlash.

"Alright, it’ll be on the hills of the mountain, protecting us passively. I’m tired a bit, so if you need me, I’ll be in the tent."

Davis saw that they still couldn’t comprehend the gist of his actions. He didn’t blame them since he scared the souls out of them by pranking them with the Eternal Eclipse Bird. He walked past them, and the Eternal Eclipse Bird flapped its wings, releasing a gust of darkness wind as it soared into the sky and perched itself on a hill.

No external communication was needed between them. As long as Davis willed it, the Eternal Eclipse Bird would obey.

Once Davis appeared inside the tent and sat down, he abruptly held his head, feeling encumbered.

His head had never ever felt so heavy. It didn’t pain, but he felt like he was carrying a mountain on his head, and it could burst apart anytime from the feeling of heaviness.

’As expected, actively controlling such a powerful existence is very difficult. Even my powerful soul is encumbered. I wouldn’t be able to use the full extent of my perception this way. My soul sense and other soul force methods are oppressed by the feedback from the technique. This is the price to pay for being able to control such an existence...?’

Davis couldn’t help but lampoon, ’Then it’s a small price to pay.’

As he checked his body once again, he saw that he wasn’t affected by the Lunar Shadow Bleeding Sickness anymore. He had completely conquered it up to the Eternal Eclipse Bird’s level. If he were powerful enough to begin with, he wouldn’t need to worry, but thanks to this method, infringing upon the Eternal Eclipse Bird’s self wouldn’t get him diseased.

Davis checked a few more times and confirmed that his soul was only encumbered and nothing else happened.

He didn’t need to use the Darkness Quintessence Orb anymore, as he had already marked the Eternal Eclipse Bird with the Grim Death’s Awakening’s Sigil. Unless the sigil itself was damaged or corroded by its darkness energy over time, he didn’t require such a powerful and resourceful orb.

Of course, if the Eternal Eclipse Bird lost its energy, then it could use the Darkness Quintessence Orb to quickly restore it. However, he felt that was a wasteful usage.

As for what happened when the connection was cut off, he had already researched it mid-air.

The Eternal Eclipse Bird didn’t regain control, nor did it fall. It continued flying passively but no longer responded to his Will. In other words, it became like a normal death puppet while retaining its reasoning ability limited to the task it had been given before. In other words, it was still better than the Heaven’s Warrior death puppets he once controlled.

Because it was an ego he created out of its soul essence, resembling something like a Ghost Will, yet not, since it lacked autonomy, it was absolutely loyal to him.

He believed that it could not possibly rebel.

Davis let go of the connection he shared with the Eternal Eclipse Bird once again.

Instantly, the tremendous weight in his head- precisely, his soul, disappeared. His soul sense expanded without any restriction other than this space’s restriction, and he looked at the Eternal Eclipse Bird that remained perched while maintaining a vigilant eye on the surroundings.

’Perfect...’ Davis sighed in relief.

If he had to control it the entire time actively, he knew he would probably start to suffer headaches a lot, and his perception would be oppressed. He wouldn’t be able to take proper rest either, and in a few days, collapse from exhaustion and even enter a coma if it were worse.

*Swsh~*

Finally, someone entered and bombarded him with a few questions.

"New Grim Death’s Awakening!? How? There’s no way you could control it unless-"

Myria’s gaze shook. She feared he had used Fallen Heaven and, in panic, stormed into the tent only to look at his smiling and relaxed gaze.

His gaze told her otherwise, causing her heart to tremble.
