Chapter 684: Chapter 683: Golden Blood Pool

The dragon’s roar from just a moment ago had made Lin Yun’s very soul tremble. Taking a deep breath, he looked beyond the bronze gate once more. All he saw inside was a massive pool and nothing else.

Stepping through the bronze gate, Lin Yun slowly approached the edge of the massive pool. His eyes fell upon its contents, and in an instant, he was utterly stunned.

The pool was filled to the brim with golden blood. Golden blood... Divine Dragon Blood...

A pool of Divine Dragon Blood this large... Even in the Divine Realm, Lin Yun had never seen anything like it. This vast amount of Divine Dragon Blood emitted a rich golden glow, and a pure Dragon’s Suppression permeated every corner of the room.

Staring at the Divine Dragon Blood, a fiery glint appeared in Lin Yun’s eyes. ’If I could just soak in a pool of Divine Dragon Blood like this, the benefits would be...’

However, after a brief attempt, Lin Yun discovered the entire pool was protected by an Array. With his current strength, he had no way of breaking through its defenses.

’So close, yet so far?’ Lin Yun was frustrated. Such a massive opportunity lay right before him, yet he was completely unable to break the Array.

Just as Lin Yun was fuming in frustration, the open bronze gate suddenly slammed shut with a deafening BOOM. Hearing the noise, Lin Yun whipped his head around to look at the gate.

At that moment, two stone statues appeared, one on each side of the gate. They were taller than a man, and he couldn’t sense their Cultivation. But their most conspicuous feature was their teeth—long and sharp, like those of a vampire.

Their two long canine teeth looked terrifying. Lin Yun had no idea what these statues were, but they certainly weren’t going to answer his questions. Without a word, the two statues charged toward him.

There was no time to think. As the two statues attacked, Lin Yun’s Space Ring flashed, and the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear appeared in his hand.

He thrust the spear at one of the statues. The statue didn’t dodge or evade the attack, and the tip of the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear struck it squarely in the chest.

The sharp Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear didn’t pierce the statue as he’d expected. It only created a few fine cracks on its chest before it could advance no further.

’This tough?’ Lin Yun hadn’t expected the statues to be so durable that even his Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear couldn’t pierce them.

Just then, the other statue reached him. Quick as Lightning, it grabbed his neck, and its sharp fangs sank deep into his flesh.

The blood was being drained from his body. ’These statues can actually suck blood!’

He struggled with all his might and broke free. Lin Yun touched his neck, feeling two distinct fang marks from which blood was steadily flowing.

The statues were mindless. Seeing Lin Yun retreat, they charged at him again. This time, Lin Yun didn’t attack recklessly; instead, he focused on dodging them.

As he dodged, Lin Yun tried to formulate a plan. ’These statues feed on blood, but from their attack patterns, it seems that’s their only ability.’

’But the most critical point is that these statues are so damn tough. I have no idea what they’re made of, but even the Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear can’t pierce them.’

While dodging, Lin Yun tried focusing all his attacks on a single point on the statues, but it had no effect. The durability of these statues was simply outrageous.

He continued to ponder while carefully observing the statues’ details. Suddenly, his gaze fell on the one that had just drunk his blood.

On the arm of the statue that had drunk his blood, a dense network of tiny cracks had appeared. The other statue, which hadn’t fed on him, had no such cracks.

Noticing this, Lin Yun glanced at the pool of Divine Dragon Blood. A bold idea began to form in his mind.

’Could it be? Are these statues not here to fight me, but to drain my original blood in preparation for me to receive the Divine Dragon Blood?’

It was a very bold idea. The possibility existed, but if he guessed wrong, his blood would be completely drained, and he would fail to obtain the Divine Dragon Blood. That would be a tragic end.

But as things stood, he couldn’t break the statues’ defenses. If he kept dodging, it was only a matter of time before he became exhausted.

He was torn. Finally, Lin Yun gritted his teeth and stopped in his tracks. He looked at the charging statues, a crazed glint in his eyes, and shouted coldly, "Bring it on! I’m betting everything on this!"

Lin Yun put away his Demon Bone Heaven-Dominating Spear. The two statues quickly reached him, their sharp fangs sinking viciously into his neck. His blood was rapidly being drained by them.

He didn’t resist, allowing the two statues to drain his blood. All the while, he watched them closely for any changes, especially the one that had already fed on him.

Just as he’d hoped, under his watchful gaze, cracks began to appear on the bodies of both statues. As they continued to drain his blood, the cracks grew more numerous and spread wider.

Soon, Lin Yun’s face grew deathly pale, completely drained of color. His skin shriveled like a deflating balloon.

His head grew heavy and his consciousness began to fade. ’I think,’ he thought, ’the blood in my body has been just about completely drained by these two statues.’

Lin Yun was extremely weak, and the statues’ bodies were now completely covered in cracks.

The moment Lin Yun felt the last drop of his blood being drained, the two statues shattered with a loud CRACK, turning to dust.

The two statues vanished, but Lin Yun collapsed weakly to the ground. He fought to stay conscious. ’If I pass out now,’ he thought, ’it’s really all over.’

He immediately looked toward the Blood Pool and saw that the Array surrounding it had vanished. A smile touched Lin Yun’s lips. His gamble had paid off. The statues really weren’t there to fight him.

Painfully, inch by inch, he crawled toward the Blood Pool. With all the blood drained from his body, it was a miracle he hadn’t died instantly. It probably had something to do with the Cyan Dragon Palace.

Unable to get to his feet, Lin Yun crawled slowly and arduously toward the Blood Pool. When he finally reached the edge, he didn’t hesitate for a moment. Using the last of his strength, he let himself fall into the pool.
