Chapter 685 - 684: Blood Exchange
Chapter 685: Chapter 684: Blood Exchange
Falling into the Blood Pool, Lin Yun felt like a man who had trekked through a desert for an eternity, finally laying eyes on an oasis. It was like sweet rain after a long drought.
The Divine Dragon Blood within the pool seeped into his body through every pore. The sensation was pleasant at first, but gradually, Lin Yun began to feel pain.
Although Lin Yun’s body had been reforged by the Divine Ape Demon Core, it had not, after all, surpassed the limits of a human. From his bones and muscles to his blood and even his blood vessels, Lin Yun’s physical form was indeed powerful, but it was nothing compared to that of a true Divine Dragon.
Divine Dragon Blood was incredibly volatile. As it coursed into Lin Yun’s veins, they couldn’t withstand the pressure, and a sharp, stabbing pain began to build.
He felt the pain emanating from every blood vessel. It started as a mild ache, but within a few short breaths, it escalated into an agonizing sensation, as if countless needles were stabbing him from within.
Gritting his teeth, Lin Yun, who had regained a bit of strength, sat cross-legged in the Blood Pool. His blood vessels pulsed with alternating waves of sharp, stabbing agony and a violent, throbbing ache.
The Divine Dragon Blood rampaged through his veins with reckless abandon, utterly indifferent to his suffering or whether his vessels could even endure the strain.
The unparalleled agony plunged Lin Yun into a dazed, semi-conscious state. His willpower had always been exceptionally firm; for even he to be overwhelmed into a stupor was a testament to how excruciating the torment truly was.
It was indeed a great risk for a human body to attempt to withstand Divine Dragon Blood. After all, the Divine Dragon was a legendary Demon Beast, and its power was self-evident.
In his hazy stupor, beyond the intense pain radiating from his blood vessels, Lin Yun gradually sensed them growing stronger.
Originally, after being reforged by the Divine Ape Demon Core, his blood vessels had a smooth, jade-like luster. However, under the assault of the Divine Dragon Blood, their color faded until they were now almost transparent.
It was now as if he had no blood vessels at all, with the blood flowing freely throughout his body. But if one were to look closely, his now-transparent vessels would still emit a faint glimmer as the blood coursed through them.
Upon this glimmering surface, his vessels seemed to be covered in countless tiny Dragon Scales. These scales were like a suit of armor, constantly protecting them.
The Divine Dragon Blood gradually calmed, its previous volatility gone. The Blood Pool where Lin Yun was sitting, once filled to the brim, had been completely absorbed into his body. The entire pool was now dry.
Sitting cross-legged in the desiccated Blood Pool, Lin Yun’s skin was entirely golden, as if covered by a layer of golden armor.
At a speed visible to the naked eye, the golden blood covering his skin was rapidly absorbed. The flesh revealed beneath was as smooth as jade, like that of a newborn baby.
Finally, after an unknown amount of time, Lin Yun opened his eyes once more. He rose to his feet and stretched his body. He had absorbed the entire pool, and now, the very blood flowing through his veins was Divine Dragon Blood.
Without deliberately releasing his aura, just by standing there calmly, an almost imperceptible pressure emanated from him, enough to make one feel uneasy.
A faint smile touched his lips as Lin Yun murmured to himself, ’As expected of the Cyan Dragon Palace. This Divine Dragon Blood is incredibly pure.’
Stepping out of the Blood Pool, Lin Yun felt incredible. It was as if he now possessed an inexhaustible well of power. After stretching his limbs, he noticed a Light Gate had appeared behind the pool. ’Looks like this is the way to the next area,’ he thought.
Without hesitation, Lin Yun stepped into the Light Gate. As soon as he passed through, the gate vanished, and the room fell silent once more.
He traversed a dark passageway for a short time before seeing light ahead. Stepping out of the darkness, his eyes fell upon a vast, white pool.
It was more like a lake; calling it a pool would be an understatement.
But what truly astonished Lin Yun wasn’t the white lake itself, but the massive Divine Dragon skeleton resting in its center.
It was impossible to tell how massive the skeleton truly was, or how many years it had rested here. But all of its flesh was gone, leaving only a complete, ivory-white frame.
Just as Lin Yun was studying the Divine Dragon skeleton, an incredibly terrifying Dragon’s Suppression suddenly erupted from it and bore down on him.
Utterly unable to resist, Lin Yun’s knees buckled, and he was forced down. It was as if the Divine Dragon skeleton was reminding him that one must kneel when in the presence of a Divine Dragon.
But it was not in Lin Yun’s nature to kneel to anyone. Not even to the legendary Demon Beast, the Divine Dragon.
He struggled to get back on his feet. As if sensing his defiance, the Dragon’s Suppression emanating from the skeleton intensified, and no matter how hard Lin Yun strained, he could not rise.
He bit his lip so hard that it split, and a trickle of golden Divine Dragon Blood ran from the corner of his mouth. His eyes burned with unyielding resolve. Making him submit willingly to this Divine Dragon skeleton was clearly impossible.
Though he still couldn’t rise, Lin Yun forced his back ramrod straight. His eyes locked onto the enormous Divine Dragon skeleton as he spoke in a cold, defiant voice.
"A mere skeleton wants me, Lin Yun, to kneel? Forget now—even when you were alive, I would not have knelt to you."
As if in response, the moment the words left his mouth, a colossal dragon’s roar echoed through the space, so powerful it made Lin Yun’s eardrums throb and his very spirit tremble.
This roar was even more terrifying than the one he had heard at the bronze great gate. The sound alone was enough to make Lin Yun cough up a mouthful of golden blood.
The roar slowly faded. Then, a thousand-meter-long phantom of a Divine Dragon slowly materialized before Lin Yun. Its body was coiled, its massive head turned toward him, and its majestic eyes shone with an authority that could not be defied.
When the Divine Dragon’s phantom appeared and Lin Yun came to his senses, their eyes met. In its presence, a profound sense of powerlessness welled up from the depths of his being. The Divine Dragon was the very symbol of majesty. Even a Demon Beast possessing but a single trace of its bloodline would be one of the most powerful and tyrannical in the world.
Take the Flood Dragons of the Divine Realm, for example. They do not possess pure Dragon Blood, yet the Flood Dragon Race is a Demon Beast Race on par with the Vajra Divine Apes.
