Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 682 - 681: Respective Inheritances
Chapter 682: Chapter 681: Respective Inheritances
Lin Yun knew the figure before him was merely a Residual Soul. But even as a wisp of a soul, it still retained some of the expert’s thoughts from when he was alive.
Hearing Lin Yun’s question, the figure’s deep voice sounded again. Its tone was devoid of any emotion, icy as it spoke, "They were people who never belonged to this world in the first place. Since the three Spaces have been destroyed, they naturally must disappear along with them."
’In this expert’s eyes,’ Lin Yun thought, ’the people in these three Spaces were probably just tools for the trial of those who entered the ruins. Once the task was complete, there was no need for them to exist anymore.’
Lin Yun found the figure’s actions very difficult to accept. But what could he do? This was an expert who once dominated the heavens and the earth, with Combat Power even greater than a Main God of the Divine Realm.
"Then what exactly is this Cyan Dragon Palace you mentioned?" Instead of dwelling on the destruction of the three Spaces—since there was no changing it—Lin Yun was now more concerned with the secrets this ruin held.
"The Celestial Spirit Four Symbols secure the universe and seal the Divine Demons. Junior, if you wish to know the secrets of the Cyan Dragon Palace, do you have the courage to challenge its strongest legacy?" Without answering Lin Yun’s question directly, the figure slowly posed its own.
Hearing the figure’s words, Lin Yun was stunned. ’The Celestial Spirit Four Symbols, securing the universe, sealing the Divine Demons... What does all that mean?’
Seeing Lin Yun lost in thought, the figure didn’t press him. Instead, its gaze shifted to the Monk and the others. It looked at the Monk first and spoke in that same icy tone.
"Innate Buddha constitution. The Buddhist Dao is arguably the only path of Martial Arts you can walk in this life. Very well. I shall grant you an unparalleled Buddhist Dao legacy." Without even asking the Monk’s opinion, the figure pointed a giant finger into the void. A black hole instantly appeared before the Monk and sucked him in.
In an instant, the Monk vanished from sight. Snapping back to his senses, Lin Yun stared at the spot where the Monk had just stood. ’From what the figure said, it seems the Monk was given an unparalleled Buddhist Dao legacy.’
After the Monk vanished, the figure turned to the Daoist and said in the same cold tone, "A pure Daoist heart. You two—one Buddhist, one Daoist. Not bad."
It was as if the figure could see right through them; the Monk and Daoist could hide nothing from it. It pointed into the void again, and a similar black hole appeared before the Daoist, pulling him in.
With both the Monk and Daoist gone from the grand hall, it seemed they had each received their own legacy. Now, only Lin Yun, Xi Zijin, the Black-striped Tiger, and Little Ape remained.
Xi Zijin glanced at Lin Yun and gave him a slight smile. Just then, the figure’s gaze fell upon her. It contemplated for a moment, seemingly a little surprised by her, lacking the decisiveness it had shown with the Monk and Daoist.
"Sigh... very well. Let’s have you give it a try." After a long silence, the figure finally pointed its finger, and Xi Zijin also vanished from the grand hall.
’I don’t know what kind of legacy Xi Zijin received,’ Lin Yun mused, ’but judging by the figure’s power when it was alive, the legacies it bestowed upon the three of them can’t be anything ordinary. They must be at least at the level of a Saint’s legacy.’
Everyone else was gone. Only Lin Yun, Little Ape, the Black-striped Tiger, and the silent, giant figure remained.
"A Black-striped Tiger... such a Low Level Demon Beast bloodline." The figure’s voice dripped with contempt as it looked at the tiger. It paused, glanced at Lin Yun, and after a moment of thought, addressed the Black-striped Tiger again.
"Demon Beasts are different from humans. Humans can climb to the Peak through opportunity and hard work, step by step. A Demon Beast’s potential, however, is almost entirely determined by its bloodline. With an impure bloodline, a Demon Beast can never achieve great heights."
The figure spoke slowly, then paused. Its tone grew serious as it looked at the Black-striped Tiger and asked, word by word, "Do you want to obtain the bloodline of the Celestial King White Tiger?"
The Black-striped Tiger didn’t know what it meant upon hearing the four words "Celestial King White Tiger," but Lin Yun was stunned. ’The Celestial King White Tiger... an Unparalleled Demon Beast on the same Level as the Vajra Divine Ape, the Heaven-Destroying Demon Ape, and the Divine Dragon!’
’Even the Celestial Winged Demon Tiger bloodline I originally promised the Black-striped Tiger is nothing more than an ant before the Celestial King White Tiger.’
Not knowing what a Celestial King White Tiger was, the Black-striped Tiger looked to Lin Yun, clearly wanting him to make the decision.
"Does the Cyan Dragon Hall have the bloodline of the Celestial King White Tiger?" Lin Yun asked, looking at the figure.
"Of course not. Obtaining the bloodline of the Celestial King White Tiger isn’t so simple. The Cyan Dragon Hall doesn’t have it, but the White Tiger Forest does. Whether or not it can obtain it, however, is entirely up to the tiger itself. All I can do is send it to the White Tiger Forest," the figure said.
’White Tiger Forest?’ Hearing this, Lin Yun quickly made a connection. The figure had just mentioned the Celestial Spirit Four Symbols, and he recalled the scene he had witnessed in the underground Martial Arts Training Ground in Demon City.
’Back when the Cyan Dragon Hall appeared, it wasn’t alone. In the other three cardinal directions, three other ruins had also manifested—phantoms of a White Tiger, a Vermilion Bird, and a Xuanwu, all echoing the phantom of the Cyan Dragon.’
After a moment of contemplation, Lin Yun asked, "Is the White Tiger Forest a ruin, just like the Cyan Dragon Hall?"
"Correct. And the Celestial King White Tiger bloodline is the strongest legacy in the White Tiger Forest. If this foolish tiger can obtain it, its future accomplishments won’t be much less than the Little Ape on your shoulder," the figure said slowly.
’Going to the White Tiger Forest means the Black-striped Tiger will have to fight for the Celestial King White Tiger bloodline on its own. And even though it’s just a guess, I’m certain the White Tiger Forest is extremely dangerous.’
Lin Yun hesitated. But after hearing the figure’s words, a look of determination flashed in the Black-striped Tiger’s eyes. It looked at the figure and spoke in a human voice, "I want to go to the White Tiger Forest and obtain the bloodline of the Celestial King White Tiger."
Hearing this, Lin Yun turned to look at the Black-striped Tiger. Seeing its resolve, Lin Yun knew it wanted to become stronger—especially after hearing that with the Celestial King White Tiger bloodline, its future accomplishments wouldn’t fall too far behind Little Ape’s.
That was why the Black-striped Tiger had made its resolute decision. It had to go to the White Tiger Forest, no matter how dangerous. It knew that its bloodline was worlds apart from Little Ape’s. If it wanted to keep following in the footsteps of Lin Yun and Little Ape, the Black-striped Tiger had to strive to obtain the most powerful bloodline of the Tiger Race.
"Once you go to the White Tiger Forest, whether you can obtain the Celestial King White Tiger bloodline is entirely up to you. There will be competitors there who also want the bloodline. It is exceptionally dangerous—a journey from which you have a one-in-ten chance of returning alive. Are you sure?" the figure asked. For the first time, it had actually sought the Black-striped Tiger’s consent.
"I’m sure," the Black-striped Tiger said with a firm nod, not a hint of hesitation in its voice.
The moment the Black-striped Tiger finished speaking, a black hole appeared before it, just as it had for the others. This time, however, the black hole didn’t suck it in.
