Chapter 681: Chapter 680: Nameless Expert

The people around him vanished one by one in a bizarre fashion. In an instant, the ten Commanders of the Demon Palace were reduced to just the Grand Commander. Gazing at the apocalyptic scene before him, the Grand Commander suddenly recalled a prophecy from the Demon Palace concerning the one who descends from the heavens.

Because no one, not even the Grand Commander, had ever been able to understand this prophecy, it was gradually forgotten by everyone in the Demon Palace.

Only now did the Grand Commander remember this prophecy about the one who descends from the heavens.

"When the one who descends from the heavens appears, the conflict between the Divine and Demon Palaces shall cease. When the conflict ends... the end of the world..." The Grand Commander repeated the words over and over. Only now, it seemed, did he finally understand their meaning.

"Haha... the conflict ends, the world ends... Haha..." As he spoke, the Grand Commander suddenly burst into a bleak, sorrowful laugh.

’So the moment a victor was decided between the Divine and Demon Palaces was the day the world would collapse. Haha... to think that after fighting with all my might to end the conflict, I ended up personally sending everyone to their deaths.’

The Grand Commander laughed his desolate laugh. Amidst his cackles, a beam of light shot down from the sky, enveloping him. In an instant, his laughter cut off, and his body dissolved into nothingness.

The worlds had completely collapsed. Standing above them, Lin Yun and the others could only watch helplessly as all three crumbled into oblivion.

"Master... Qingfeng Saint... Grand Commander..." Lin Yun muttered in a low voice, staring at where the three Spaces had completely vanished.

’Luo Feng and the others... and who knows if Qingfeng Saint even made it out.’ The thought made Lin Yun’s heart burn with frustration. As for the members of the Demon Palace, he had already guessed their fate—they were likely gone for good.

His expression was incredibly grim. Lin Yun didn’t know why the three Spaces had suddenly collapsed, but he was certain it was all connected to these ruins.

Without a word, Lin Yun withdrew his gaze. Where the three Spaces had once been, there was now only a pitch-black void. The Spaces, along with everyone inside them, had vanished from existence.

Gazing at the enormous sanctuary before them, Lin Yun walked up to its main gate. Standing before the doors, he and his companions felt as insignificant as grains of sand. The gate, which appeared to be a thousand meters tall, made them all wonder what could possibly lie behind it.

As if sensing their arrival, the colossal gate slowly swung open the moment they reached it. Beyond the threshold, there was only more pitch-black darkness.

Lin Yun said nothing, stepping through the gate first. Xi Zijin and the others followed close behind. Everyone’s spirits were low; they had just witnessed the collapse of three Spaces and the countless lives that had vanished along with them.

Upon entering the sanctuary, they were met with pitch-black darkness. Lin Yun advanced cautiously, scanning his surroundings for any sign of movement. However, he soon discovered that his Divine Thought was completely useless here.

’I’ve already come this far. No matter what lies ahead, I won’t back down.’ He was here not only for the ruins’ legacy and treasures but also to uncover their secrets.

They walked on and on through the darkness, with no idea how far they had gone. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, another thousand-meter-high gate materialized before them.

It was slightly smaller than the first gate but looked far more exquisite, its surface adorned with numerous expensive pieces of Jade.

Just as before, the gate swung open automatically as they approached. This time, however, what greeted them was not darkness but a brightly lit great hall.

The great hall towered a thousand meters high, flanked on both sides by rows of Divine Demonic Golems. These golems were immeasurably more imposing than the four they had seen at the entrance to the ruins.

The golems stood seven to eight hundred meters tall; standing at their feet, Lin Yun and his companions could barely see the tops of their heads.

’These Divine Demonic Golems have definitely surpassed the Saint Realm... No, I’m afraid even the Main Gods of the Divine Realm don’t possess this level of Combat Power,’ Lin Yun thought, slightly astonished. More than a dozen of the massive golems lined both sides of the hall.

After a moment’s hesitation at the entrance, Lin Yun led the others into the great hall. They walked past the Divine Demonic Golems and arrived at the center of the hall, where they saw a throne.

The throne was hundreds of meters tall. They couldn’t imagine what kind of being was meant to sit on it.

As their eyes fell upon the throne, their gazes were seemingly drawn in, and they found they could not look away. It was as if the throne was the very embodiment of the highest, most supreme authority in all of existence.

As Lin Yun and his companions stared, transfixed, at the throne, a voice suddenly echoed through the hall. It was incredibly deep, yet it seemed to seize the soul.

"You juniors... you have passed the trial of the Cyan Dragon Palace..."

The sudden voice snapped them back to their senses. They scanned their surroundings but saw no one. Besides the Divine Demonic Golems lining the hall, the vast space was completely empty.

However, as they finished surveying the hall and their gazes returned to the throne, they saw that the once-empty seat was now occupied by a towering figure, also hundreds of meters tall.

Gazing at the figure on the throne, Lin Yun and the others grew so tense they didn’t dare make a sound. From this being, Lin Yun felt a pressure so suffocating that it was hard to breathe.

’I’ve never felt pressure like this before, not even from the Main Gods in the Divine Realm. In the entire Divine Realm, perhaps only the Divine Emperor and the War God of that era, Lin Xiaotian, possessed such an overwhelming aura.’

"You juniors have passed the trial of the Cyan Dragon Palace. You may now select its legacy and treasures." The figure’s face was indistinct, but upon seeing him, Lin Yun was left utterly stunned.

This was the very same figure he had seen in the underground Martial Arts Training Ground in Demon City. Back then, it was this being who had imprisoned the three Spaces and forcibly thrown the ancestors of the Demon Palace and Divine Palace into them.

While Lin Yun was in shock, the Monk and the Daoist quickly moved past their own astonishment and grew excited. In such a majestic hall, how could the legacy and treasures be anything but extraordinary?

Just as the pair were wondering what kind of legacy to choose, Lin Yun suddenly addressed the figure on the throne, "Why did you destroy the three Spaces? Did you not know how many people would perish along with them?"

The figure was undeniably powerful, but Lin Yun knew it wasn’t a person. At most, it was a wisp of a Residual Soul, left behind by some great expert to guard this so-called Cyan Dragon Palace.
