Chapter 650: Chapter 649: What a Freak

After getting a taste of success in the underground Martial Arts Training Ground, Lin Yun went there to cultivate nearly every day. What’s more, the amount of time he could endure improved with every attempt.

From one and a half hours on his first attempt to a full three hours now, Lin Yun hadn’t missed a single day for half a month.

Eventually, the Grand Commander stopped waiting for Lin Yun to finish his cultivation. Each time, he would simply activate the Array for Lin Yun, leave, and then return to deactivate it after Lin Yun was done.

It wasn’t just that he could endure for longer periods; Lin Yun was also constantly challenging the turbulent Elemental Power at the Array’s core. He was now a mere two steps away from its very center.

However, those mere two steps felt like an insurmountable chasm.

Witnessing Lin Yun’s immense progress, the Grand Commander had become completely numb to the shock. Zhang Qing had cultivated in this Array for many years, yet even now, he could only make it halfway.

Even he, the Grand Commander, was now no match for Lin Yun. His absolute limit was three steps from the center of the Array, a full step behind Lin Yun.

"What a monster." This was the Grand Commander’s assessment of Lin Yun. In less than a month, Lin Yun had improved so much that he had even surpassed him. It was no wonder the Grand Commander thought so.

This day, Lin Yun arrived at the underground Martial Arts Training Ground as usual. The Grand Commander activated the Array and, as he now always did, left immediately, leaving Lin Yun to cultivate alone.

’Today, I must take that next step...’ Lin Yun stared at the Array before him, his voice firm with resolve. A month had passed, and he was confident that today he could finally make another breakthrough.

He strode into the Array. By now, the turbulent Elemental Power at the periphery had no effect on him whatsoever.

One step, two steps, three steps... Every step was exceptionally steady. Soon, he reached the spot just two steps from the Array’s center.

Instead of rushing to take the next step, Lin Yun first sat down cross-legged. Gritting his teeth, he allowed the raging Elemental Power to run rampant through his body.

He had to acclimate to the pressure here first. He had first been able to withstand the turbulent Elemental Power at this spot ten days ago. After ten days of conditioning, he was gradually growing accustomed to its ferocity. 𝑓𝑟ℯℴ𝓂

After meditating for a full hour, Lin Yun finally opened his eyes. He slowly rose to his feet, his gaze fixed on the round platform at the center of the Array, a determined glint flashing in his eyes.

At the very center of the Array was a subtle, round platform. It rose about an inch higher than the surrounding ground, resembling a meditation cushion meant for someone to sit on.

’I have to sit on that platform.’ With that thought, Lin Yun gritted his teeth, slowly extended his right foot, and took a step forward.

He was now only a single step from the center of the Array. But the moment he took it, before he could even steady himself, he collapsed to the ground in agony.

Though it was just a single step, the pain multiplied several times over. Lin Yun felt as if his very meridians were about to be torn apart by the raging Elemental Power.

He held on through sheer, astonishing willpower. ’I can’t pass out,’ he told himself.

After a dozen breaths, he slowly pushed himself up with his hands, struggling into a seated position. He crossed his legs, squeezed his eyes shut, and bit down hard on his lip, forcibly enduring the unimaginably turbulent Elemental Power.

He was only one step away from the platform. Here, the Elemental Power rampaged through his body like a furious dragon, threatening to destroy everything within him.

However, he could only last for half an hour before being forced to retreat from the Array. The moment he stepped out, he coughed up a mouthful of blood. He had clearly overdone it.

Then again, it was to be expected. The Grand Commander had cultivated here for many years, and his current limit was still less than what Lin Yun could endure.

Lin Yun’s immense progress was mainly attributed to two factors. The first, of course, was his physical body, which had been reforged by the Divine Ape Demon Core. The second was his two Unparalleled Techniques: the War God Technique and the Demon Emperor Technique.

After resting against the wall for a moment, Lin Yun finally pushed himself up and staggered toward the exit.

He had successfully taken the step, but he still couldn’t endure it for long. For the next several days, he would emerge from the Array and cough up blood every time, leaving him incredibly weak. Yet, thanks to his powerful self-healing ability, he would show up at the underground Martial Arts Training Ground the very next day, as lively and energetic as ever.

Today, Lin Yun was once again preparing to head to the underground Martial Arts Training Ground. However, just as he stepped out of his room, he saw Xi Zijin—whom he hadn’t seen in a month—sitting in the courtyard pavilion.

Sensing the change in Xi Zijin’s aura, Lin Yun asked with a smile, "You broke through?"

Hearing his question, Xi Zijin smiled back. "Mhm, I broke through last night. This time, I finally beat you to it..."

It was rare to see Xi Zijin smile like that, so Lin Yun didn’t have the heart to tell her that he had actually broken through a month ago.

However, since she couldn’t sense any aura from him, Xi Zijin actually asked him to reveal his Cultivation for her to inspect...

Hearing her request, Lin Yun gave a wry smile. Left with no choice after her repeated insistence, he finally unleashed his aura at the Celestial Spirit Realm Perfection.

Upon sensing that Lin Yun had also reached Celestial Spirit Realm Perfection, Xi Zijin’s lips formed an adorable pout. At that moment, she was like a completely different person. Even Lin Yun, standing beside her, was momentarily stunned. A Xi Zijin like this was truly cute and beautiful.

"When did you break through?" she asked, a hint of a pout in her voice. She glared at him as she spoke, her eyes warning him not to lie.

With no other choice, Lin Yun told her the truth: he had broken through a month ago.

A full month ahead of her. Hearing his answer, Xi Zijin lost any desire to compete. "You’re just a monster," she grumbled.

Called a monster again. Over the past month, Lin Yun had heard that word far too often. The Grand Commander muttered it almost daily—that Lin Yun was truly a monster.

Not wanting to dwell on the issue of his Cultivation, Lin Yun smiled at Xi Zijin. "Since you’ve broken through, let me take you somewhere today."

"Where?" she asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Somewhere nice." Lin Yun didn’t elaborate, simply telling her to follow him and promising she wouldn’t regret it.
