Divine Emperor Demon Emperor
Chapter 651 - 650: Cruel Illusion Realm
Chapter 651: Chapter 650: Cruel Illusion Realm
Unsure where Lin Yun was taking her, Xi Zijin followed him all the way to the Central Square of Demon City. The Grand Commander was already waiting there.
For a month straight, Lin Yun had come at this exact hour every day. Because of this, the Grand Commander now made it a habit to wait for Lin Yun here at this time.
Seeing Lin Yun with Xi Zijin today, the Grand Commander had no objections. Like Lin Yun, Xi Zijin was one of the "descended," so she could naturally enter the underground Martial Arts Training Ground to cultivate.
Led by the Grand Commander, Lin Yun and the others walked into the underground Martial Arts Training Ground. The Grand Commander immediately formed a Seal Technique with his hands, and in an instant, he activated the Array in the training ground.
Just like Lin Yun had been, Xi Zijin was shocked to see the Grand Commander perform a Seal Technique for the first time, and by the Array that appeared before her.
However, when she asked the Grand Commander, Xi Zijin received the same answer as Lin Yun: the Grand Commander couldn’t explain the Array’s origins at all, only that it was built by the ancestors of the Demon Palace over many generations.
After activating the Array, the Grand Commander did not stay long. In any case, with Lin Yun here, there was no need for him to stand guard over Xi Zijin.
He left the underground Martial Arts Training Ground alone, leaving Lin Yun and Xi Zijin behind. As they were about to enter the Array, Lin Yun explained its function to her.
When she heard that this Array could temper a person’s meridians, Xi Zijin grew visibly excited. She had never even heard of such a miraculous Array, not even in the Spiritual Light Pavilion.
"But since this is your first time cultivating in the Array, you need to be careful. Start from the edge of the Array for now. Don’t be too impatient for quick results, or it won’t be worth it if you damage your meridians," Lin Yun reminded her.
Hearing Lin Yun’s words, Xi Zijin nodded, then excitedly walked into the Array. Just as Lin Yun had said, she started by sitting cross-legged right at the Array’s edge.
Lin Yun didn’t rush into the Array. He stood to the side, reminding Xi Zijin what she should do.
Just like Lin Yun, after about a quarter of an hour, the Elemental Power at the Array’s edge could no longer exert any pressure on Xi Zijin. She got up and walked toward the center of the Array, but after only two steps, she had already reached her limit.
A pained expression appeared on her pretty face, but she forced herself to endure it. Xi Zijin sat down cross-legged and, just as Lin Yun had told her, allowed the berserk Elemental Power to course through her body.
’Alright, my turn now...’ Xi Zijin had reached her limit; now it was just a matter of how long she could endure. With a faint smile, Lin Yun strode into the Array.
Without pausing, Lin Yun walked directly to a spot just one step away from the central platform. The moment he arrived, his face turned deathly pale, but he didn’t retreat. He sat down cross-legged on the spot.
After one hour, Xi Zijin could no longer hold on and left the Array. This was already a very good result, at least matching the record of the previous generation’s Grand Commander.
Stepping out of the Array and seeing Lin Yun sitting cross-legged just one step from the central platform, Xi Zijin pouted and said, "You’re such a monster. I’m never competing with you again."
But after she spoke, a sweet smile bloomed on her face.
Lin Yun endured for an hour and a half in the Array before leaving. In the days that followed, Lin Yun and Xi Zijin came to the underground Martial Arts Training Ground almost every day.
And Xi Zijin’s progress was obvious. She could now withstand the berserk Elemental Power at a distance of ten steps from the central platform.
Another half a month passed. Lin Yun had tried several times, but he was still unable to take that final step, to truly sit on the central platform.
At the same time of day, Lin Yun and Xi Zijin arrived at the underground Martial Arts Training Ground once more. After opening the Array for the two of them, the Grand Commander did not stay, leaving by himself as usual.
Having cultivated for so many days, the two had developed a tacit understanding. Without needing to say much, they both stepped into the Array. When she reached the ten-step mark from the central platform, Xi Zijin stopped and sat down cross-legged.
And Lin Yun, likewise, went to his spot just one step away from the central platform.
An hour passed. Xi Zijin was still sitting cross-legged, while Lin Yun slowly opened his eyes. He gradually rose to his feet and turned to look at the central platform, which was now right before him.
’I have to succeed this time...’ he muttered quietly but firmly.
He slowly took a step forward. Just like the last few times, the moment one foot landed on the platform, Lin Yun felt a terrifyingly berserk wave of Elemental Power instantly sweep over his entire body.
On all previous attempts, this was the point where he had failed. This time, Lin Yun clenched his jaw, his hands balling into tight fists.
The intense, swelling pain in his meridians made Lin Yun let out a muffled grunt. He forcibly lifted his second foot. The movement was strenuous and slow, but in the end, both of Lin Yun’s feet were finally planted firmly on the central platform.
’I did it?’ he thought, elated. However, before Lin Yun could celebrate for long, the scene before his eyes began to spin rapidly.
A dizzying sensation washed over him, and his consciousness blurred. He didn’t know how much time had passed, but when Lin Yun came to his senses again, he found that the scene before him had completely changed.
It was as if he were looking down upon the Celestial Spirit Continent from high in the sky. What Lin Yun saw was a boundless continent.
As Lin Yun watched, the flames of war spread ceaselessly across this continent, engulfing every single corner.
As the war continued, the entire continent eventually broke apart, shattering into dozens of smaller continents of various sizes. The one in the very center was the largest.
His perspective shifted, and Lin Yun’s gaze fell upon one of the fractured continents—but it wasn’t the largest, central one.
On this continent, Lin Yun saw the ethereal figures of four Divine Beasts appear in the south, east, north, and west.
Cyan Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Xuanwu. The phantoms of the four Divine Beasts appeared in the four corners of the continent like four great anchors.
At that moment, near the phantom of the Cyan Dragon, a figure whose face could not be seen reached out a bare hand and grabbed at the void. Instantly, three confined Spaces appeared.
Immediately after, the figure performed a Sealing with their hands and carved some kind of Array into the air. The massive Array seemed to envelop heaven and earth, trapping everything within its confines.
After doing all this, the figure looked toward two groups of people outside the Cyan Dragon’s phantom—one group dressed in black, the other in white. With a wave of their sleeve, the figure sent both groups directly into the three already confined Spaces.
As if they were being forcibly thrown into these three Spaces, the people cried out and screamed, but it was useless. They were powerlessly tossed into the three man-made, confined Spaces.
Watching the scene before him, Lin Yun tried to speak, but no sound would come out. And with that, the vision went dark, and he lost consciousness completely.
