Dimensional Hotel
Chapter 890 - 889: Establishing the Communication Link
Chapter 890: Chapter 889: Establishing the Communication Link
Now, the calibrator has unfolded.
Including the circle of water around Lake Heart Island, the entire area covered by the Angel Giant Tree has undergone earth-shattering changes——
The tree’s crown has expanded by nearly one-third, and in addition to its original plant structure, there’s now a crystal-like phantom circling it, occasionally accompanied by a gentle and pleasant sound of spiritual energy resonance from the sky, along with the occasional flicker of small "Light Spirits" between the crystallized branches;
The surface of the lake beneath the tree has transformed into a deep and boundless starry sky, with an illusory Light River flowing around Lake Heart Island. A part of the "Quiet Sea" is projected onto the water, and this projection is proof of the connection established between the calibrator and the Void Engine;
The tree’s trunk has also changed, not only with the addition of numerous virtual crystal structures but also surrounded by streams of light that shuttle around, seemingly switching between two dimensions continually, flowing on the Crystal Tree in the Soul Wilderness one moment and entering the real world the next.
On the plains across the lake, Sela instinctively gazed at the direction of the tree for a long time, along with many new "Moon People" born from the fruits of the tree, and a strange and subtle connection surged in everyone’s heart. They almost instantly understood the changes happening to the Angel Giant Tree, and even directly saw the tree in its true and complete form at this moment.
In Sela’s "vision", the Soul Wilderness and the real world simultaneously flashed into her mind, with the glorious Crystal Tree and Angel Giant Tree complementing each other as reflections. Massive data flows between the two giant trees, constantly calculating and correcting something, while outputting results to a more distant, unfathomable entity (Void Engine).
She also saw countless soul apparitions of her clansmen, surrounding the twin trees reflecting each other. Some had gained bodies and lived with her on this Sky Island, while others remained weak spiritual forms preserved by the Crystal Tree. She even saw herself—now all Dark Moon People were part of this vast system.
At this moment, she finally understood the true meaning of what the Queen said a few days ago, that the Dark Moon People would become the "Guardian Race" of the Angel Giant Tree moving forward. It was not Savior Yu Sheng’s mercy and comfort to uphold their dignity, but the literal truth.
On Lake Heart Island, beneath the giant tree, Erin and Hu Li raised their heads in awe of this magnificent wonder.
"Damn, it’s so beautiful..."
The Little Puppet let out an unsophisticated yet sincere exclamation.
"Yeah, indeed it’s beautiful, truly worthy of our Savior."
The fox girl stood aside, nodding repeatedly while munching on buns—these buns she demanded earlier from the public cafeteria, bean-filled.
Luna turned her head, glancing at Yu Sheng, who remained motionless.
"Master, still not awake?"
"No idea," Erin said as she quickly climbed onto Yu Sheng’s shoulder, leaned forward and poked his nostril with her finger, "Anyway, he’s still breathing, so C-type buckle, no need to bow yet..."
At this moment, Yu Sheng’s consciousness was still wandering in chaos, moving forward persistently along a blurry Light River for an unknown span of time.
He felt he had established an unprecedentedly close connection with the World Bridge—or more precisely, with the calibrator now.
He could sense this massive information structure buzzing in his mind, sense its "roots" sprawling into the foundational structures of the observable Universe. The new world and old world simultaneously appeared deep in his consciousness, and he could even hear the voice of the Tree Angel——
The old tree slowly and muttering counted how many Dark Moon People had been awakened today, counted halfway and chatted with the souls of Dark Moon People, halfway through ran to Valhalla to borrow light from Freyia, then muttered counting again...
It’s slow, but not idle at all.
Yu Sheng’s consciousness lightly skimmed over these voices, continuing to wander along the illusory light flow projected by the calibrator.
He didn’t know where he was going, just instinctively following the guidance of Spiritual Intuition.
Suddenly, he vaguely heard a voice——
"I want to find my sister, can you help me?"
Yu Sheng jerked to a stop, following the voice into the depths of chaos.
Yet the voice vanished instantly, leaving nothing in the chaos and darkness.
After some unknown time filled with thoughts about what might lie ahead, a phantom boom resonated from deep within Yu Sheng’s consciousness.
The next second, he clearly saw what lay at the end of the darkness and chaos.
A sea of ruins, chaotic, turbulent, filled with remnants and ashes, came rushing towards him, projecting directly into his consciousness.
He saw torn stars, distorted structures of time and space, corpses of Alternate Dimension Gods, flashes left from Universe’s annihilation, eternal echoing wails, and the shrieks during information’s collapse.
Yu Sheng was completely submerged in this vast cluster of scorching ruins, the twisted and frenzied scene before him even exceeding the sight he once witnessed in the illusion of the "Dark Angel surrounding the world"!
Momentary shock and bewilderment quickly passed, and Yu Sheng vaguely realized that what he was seeing might not be a true "vision", but a form of higher dimensional information directly impacting his understanding, and at that instant of realization, he heard a familiar voice next to him——
"Ah, there’s a signal, a signal... Finally connected, this old technology’s really hard to run..."
Yu Sheng turned upon hearing and saw the towering shadow of the Captain standing beside him.
The next second, the Captain turned his head, a trace of a smile appearing on his face: "Ah, now you can see me."
Yu Sheng was a bit confused at the moment: "This is..."
"The Void Engine and the Calibrator have already established a connection. Although the latter still needs some time for adjustment and growth, the most basic data link is stable," the Captain explained unhurriedly, "I still cannot leave the Void Engine at will, but with this data link, our communication will be much more convenient in the future."
Yu Sheng blinked, quickly understanding what the Captain meant. Shortly after, he focused his gaze on the endless sea of ruins surrounding them.
"These are..."
"This is what I see every day," the Captain said softly, "What the Void Observer has collected is the truth outside our world—from now on, you can see it too."
"...Are they all Dark Angels?"
"Not yet, but transformation can occur at any moment—just one collision, a little bit of informational contact, and these corpses can awaken."
The Captain paused for two seconds here.
"But not all of them—a significant number have evaporated into loose clusters of information within the void. These ’ashes’ can’t even form Dark Angels; they’ve lost their last chance for information reversal transformation. Even if they occasionally touch our border, they will only leave behind empty illusions."
Yu Sheng sensed something from the Captain’s tone.
"Do you often encounter these illusions over there?"
"Yes, often," the Captain said softly, "At the edge of the Quiet Sea Order Field, remnants of evaporated worlds frequently drift through the starlight. Shirley collects them, just like gathering seashells."
Yu Sheng opened his mouth but didn’t know what to say at that moment. Eventually, he just turned his head silently, gazing at the endless sea of ashes.
After a while, he suddenly spoke: "Do you think there could be other... ’new worlds’?"
"The Endless Sea is a miracle, and this Universe reborn from its ashes is even more of a miracle," the Captain’s voice echoed beside him, "I have always been observing this group of annihilated ruins. Very occasionally, deep within this silent sea of ashes, one or two weak flashes appear, but most of them extinguish in the next instant—and those that persist a bit longer are nothing more than temporary and fragile sanctuaries like ’Lodaxim High Wall Kingdom.’
Saying this, the Captain was silent for a few seconds, then shook his head again: "But I still wish to believe that perhaps there are other survivors among these ashes. After all, as you can see, this ’sea’ is so vast that even with the Void Detector’s power at maximum, we cannot see its end—amid nearly infinite possibilities, the probability of other civilization campfires existing is not zero.
"It’s just... it has no significance."
Yu Sheng furrowed his brow: "No significance?"
"Too ’distant,’ too weak, too many uncontrollable factors," the Captain said slowly, "That’s not a distance in space or even time; there are no such concepts in the void. It’s ’deviation’ on the level of information. If the campfire of other civilizations is beyond our observation range, anything we do is meaningless—unable to communicate, locate, or help—unobservable, all is void."
Yu Sheng thought for a moment, saying nothing more.
"Has Lucrecia been bothering you a lot lately over there—hasn’t caused any trouble, right?" the Captain suddenly asked.
"No, what trouble could she cause," Yu Sheng quickly waved his hand, "Let me tell you, rarely do I have someone so steady and reliable around me..."
As soon as he said this, the Captain’s expression turned a bit subtle: "Steady and reliable? Who? Lucrecia?"
Yu Sheng blinked: "...Uh, yeah, she even helps take care of the children in the valley."
The Captain thought for a moment, suddenly asked a seemingly unrelated question: "What do you think of Erin? Does she give you a headache?"
Yu Sheng was a bit confused, but still thought carefully before answering seriously: "She’s okay. While she may have some quirky ideas and be somewhat reckless, she’s not too troubling, and she’s pretty easy to understand most of the time."
The Captain gave Yu Sheng a deep look, unexpectedly reached out to pat his shoulder: "Old Ba... no, Lao Yu..."
Yu Sheng: "...Ah?"
"It’s been hard on you."
Yu Sheng: "...?"
The surrounding illusions silently faded away, and Yu Sheng blinked, refocusing his attention on the real world.
Then he immediately saw the Star Sea Witch, sitting beside a tree root, using dazzling tricks and magic to entertain a few Moon Children.
Lucrecia wore a joyful smile, while several kids, just waking from slumber, exclaimed in front of the Witch’s tricks, seeming to gradually forget that long nightmare.
And on the lake surface not far away, a large group of Thunderstorm Tornado Dragon Ships and various models of Bean Monsters were riding the waves.
—Since Miss Witch showed off her skills at the previous bonfire party, children have been seeking her out to create these strange things.
By the way, those oddly-shaped Bean Monsters, if they win against the mechanical dinosaurs, are turned into bean stir-fry, if they lose, they are made into bean stir-fried noodles, and if they tie, they are made into buns—Hu Li loves eating buns.
Looking at the harmonious daily scene before him, Yu Sheng thoughtfully scratched his chin and muttered to himself: "Isn’t this quite nice..."
