Chapter 239 We Meet Again
Even from the distance he was, Lenny could tell that this Giant Tower was alive.
After all, blood flowed through those veins.
Yes, it was pulsating with life.
At the peak of the tower was the gathering of the veins into a single point that made it look like the sharpened edge of a pencil.
From this edge, flowed a red beam of light that blanketed the town in a dome.
Looking at it this close, it looked like an aurora of sorts.
This was the place Lenny was after.
To truly destroy this town, he had to destroy that place.
“Satan system, scan that tower. How do I get in?”
<Scanning in progress…>
<Scan completed. Tower is a forced mutated child of a rank 1 Hell beast. Entering point of Tower found. Only Entry point is at the base of the tower>
“Hmm” Lenny nodded as he aimed his ride for the base of the Tower.
As he did, he could see that the Tower was impressively guarded.
Then again, this was the most important location in the entire Town.
It would be surprising if it was left unguarded.
Even though Cuban was all powerful and in charge, even he could not capture all hearts of all demons.
One could never tell the demon that wanted to bring harm to the tower.
Unless with permission, demons nor devils could neither leave nor enter the city.
This was also a means of control that aimed to fully establish the supremacy of the strong.
Lenny waved his hands and the Chimera insects with him rushed for the demon guards.
The demons here were different from the others.
Firstly, they all had uniforms.
This was proof of an organized body.
Which indirectly told Lenny that he might as well engage in another interesting battle.
These demons all looked alike.
They had goat looking head with a short horn in the center of their heads.
They were big, beefy. Each of them had four arms.
Three on the left side, and one on the right.
However, the three were skinny compared to the one on the right.
Lenny concluded that this was probably nature’s way of balancing out their bodies if not, the weight on one side due to the number of arms should make standing very difficult for them.
They had hooves for legs and with their yellow uniforms, they stood out from the other demons really well.
This was also due to their almost seven meters of height.
With a big, massive bronze looking shield on their right hand and three long spears on their left, they did not look like they were easy opponents.
These were the guardians of the tower.
Impressively, these demons knew how to handle themselves had displayed discipline that was very admirable, clearly separating them from the other rowdy civilian demons.
When thrown with the Half-born exploding humans, they instantly formed tactical defences with their shields.
The defenses of these demons only slightly moved when the human bombs exploded.
No matter the number, it did nothing to them.
Lenny could tell that they probably had an excellent commander.
As an assassin, he was not one that dabbled in commanding men, especially because most assassins rarely worked in groups.
In fact, it was most times safer.
One never knew who had been bribed and was going to do a little stabbing in the back.
But Lenny had been fortunate enough to have engaged in a particular assignment that had him going as an undercover soldier for a while.
Of course, this was the same assignment that had him captured and tortured, where he met the man that introduced him to the Monastery of Pain and Pleasure.
During his short time as a soldier, he had to learn the ways of the military.
He learnt their command patterns, formations and surprisingly, some good team work.
This was a learning on the job instance for him and he learnt well.
Lenny looked at the formation of the demons in front of the tower.
This tower was a unique one.
According to the system, they was only one entrance in.
The demons formed a basic defence perimeter around the entrance.
There were a total of a hundred demons.
About twenty of them formed the first line of defense with their shields.
This group did not have weapons. Just shields.
They focused all their efforts on shields.
Next, the ones just behind focused their efforts on spears.
These spears were made to be as thick as a grown man’s arm and focused mainly at a 45 degree angle.
After this, there were those with short spears in the middle and short shilds that looked more like actual weapons than for defence.
One look at this formation and Lenny was damn sure that he had seen it before.
Yes, he had.
But he couldn’t just remember where.
He pondered on it but could not just put a finger in it.
It was not until he saw someone behind.
One look at this person and he could tell that this was the commander.
This person had a most familiar face.
This person did not have the looks of other demons but surprisingly looked like a Magistri which of course, all had similar looks to Cuban, the demon that made them.
He had on Yellow uniforms like the others, but neither had their height nor had their looks.
In fact, the moment he saw this person, their eyes locked unto each other for a few faint seconds before it actually registered in his head who this person was.
After all, Lenny had met him before.
In fact, Lenny had teamed up with him, and had used this exact formation in a fight in the Arena.
It suddenly made sense why the formation felt familiar.
Although his appearance had been given slight changes, he still looked the same.
The last time Lenny had seen this person, it was when he came to take his revenge of on the order of Gladiators.
Back then, this was the person that had betrayed him first. .𝒄𝒐𝒎
When Lenny was in the E class, he was known as E7007, and in the D class, he was known as D7007.
