Chapter 105: Chapter 105:

Chapter 105:

The wolves couldn’t sense the mana within him, and yet they began feeling a foreboding sense within them.

Several of them lowered their heads, preparing to charge.

But by then, Osborne was ready.

SHAAA!!!

The ground beneath the wolves suddenly moved.

Roots shot out from the earth.

They wrapped around the legs and bodies of the demonic beasts before tightening around them.

"[Bind]."

The spell activated instantly.

The wolves struggled.

Several growled loudly as the roots tightened around their bodies.

One of the wolves reacted faster than the others.

Its muscles suddenly expanded as it pulled against the roots.

The plant-like bindings cracked.

The wolf managed to tear itself free.

Its instincts immediately told it to retreat.

It jumped backward, creating several meters of distance between itself and the other wolves.

Osborne noticed it.

’Pretty smart for a mangy mutt.’ He smirked a bit.

The other seven wolves weren’t as lucky.

The roots continued wrapping around them.

Their bodies twisted as they struggled to escape.

But then, electricity began crackling around their fur, damaging the constantly growing roots.

For the roots to grow, Osborne needed to constantly supply them with mana.

Since he was clearly outnumbered, he didn’t plan on it.

Osborne’s eyes narrowed.

If there was a better time to end this, it was now.

He couldn’t give them the chance.

His mana flowed outward once more.

Eight points of light appeared in the air around him.

The light quickly expanded.

Eight fireballs materialized out of thin air.

Osborne stared at them.

For a brief moment, even he was slightly surprised.

This was the first time he had conjured so many fireballs at once.

To think he could pull it off with such ease.

He had used Fireball countless times before, but normally he created one at a time.

Now, eight blazing spheres floated around him.

Their heat spread through the surrounding forest.

The wolves reacted immediately.

Their eyes widened.

Several of them began growling.

Electricity gathered inside their mouths.

Osborne raised his hand.

"Fireball."

The eight fireballs shot forward.

They moved through the air toward the wolves at high speed.

One of the fireballs changed direction slightly as the wolf that had escaped the binding moved farther away.

But the wolf was quick to react, firing a bolt of lightning at it.

The fireball exploded before making contact. Due to the distance between it and the wolf, the wolf suffered no harm whatsoever.

The remaining seven continued toward their targets.

The wolves opened their mouths.

Electricity exploded from their bodies.

Several electric charges shot toward the incoming fireballs.

The two attacks collided in midair.

For a brief moment, the fireballs were pushed backward.

Osborne watched carefully.

The electricity crackled around the flames, trying to destroy them before they reached the wolves.

However, the fireballs were already too close.

One of the wolves attempted to move its body.

The roots held it firmly in place.

The next moment, the seven fireballs reached their targets.

BOOM!

A massive explosion erupted.

BOOM!

Another explosion followed.

Then another.

The seven fireballs detonated almost simultaneously.

The surrounding forest shook from the force.

Fire and heat spread through the area.

Branches were blown away.

Leaves were thrown into the air.

The ground was covered in dirt and debris as a powerful wave of heat rushed outward.

Osborne immediately reacted.

He raised his hand.

Mana flowed into the ground.

"[Mud Wall]."

The earth in front of him suddenly rose.

A thick wall of mud formed between Osborne and the explosion.

The force of the blast slammed into it.

The wall shook violently but remained standing, though cracks emerged along its surface.

Heat passed around both sides of the barrier.

Osborne stood behind it, watching the smoke spread through the forest.

His breathing remained steady.

His mana supply was large enough that using eight Fireballs at once had not put much strain on him.

That was one of the advantages he had.

His mana reserves were far greater than what someone at his current level should normally possess.

He slowly lowered his hand.

The explosion began to settle.

Smoke covered the area.

Osborne waited.

He didn’t immediately approach.

There was no reason to become careless simply because his attack had succeeded.

The wolves were demonic beasts, and such creatures were known to be difficult to kill.

He couldn’t assume they were dead just because they had been caught in several Fireballs.

The smoke gradually became thinner.

Osborne’s eyes moved through the haze.

Shapes slowly appeared.

One wolf was lying on its side.

Another was struggling to move its legs.

A third was attempting to push itself upright.

The seven wolves that had been caught by the attack were still alive.

However, they had clearly suffered visible injuries.

Some were partially singed, with patches of fur burned away.

Others had blood running down their bodies.

One wolf struggled to stand before collapsing again.

Osborne watched them carefully.

’They’re tougher than I thought.’

He had expected the Fireballs to cause serious damage, but the fact that all seven had survived showed just how durable demonic beasts were.

His eyes then shifted toward the eighth wolf.

It was standing farther away.

Unlike the others, it had avoided the attack completely.

Its silver-striped body remained mostly unharmed.

The wolf stared directly at Osborne.

Its lips pulled back.

Its fangs were exposed.

A low growl came from its throat.

It obviously wasn’t a fan of its pack being wounded to such a degree.

Osborne stared back.

The wolf didn’t rush forward.

Instead, it remained where it was, watching the injured members of its pack before returning its gaze to him.

Osborne’s eyes narrowed.

There was something different about this wolf.

The other wolves had attacked together.

This one had immediately recognized danger and escaped the Bind spell before the Fireballs arrived.

It had also stayed away from the explosion.

That wasn’t simply instinct. At least, not ordinary instinct.

Osborne looked at the wolf’s silver markings.

Then he looked at the other seven wolves lying on the ground. Unlike the others, its silver streaks were far more prominent.

The answer slowly became obvious.

He sneered beneath his helm.

’I’m guessing you’re the Alpha.’ He thought to himself.
