Delicate Villainess, Desperate Males – A Beast World Reverse Harem
Chapter 240: The Young Clan Leader Might Not Be Unmoved
Chapter 240: Chapter 240: The Young Clan Leader Might Not Be Unmoved
The Cat Clan Beastman trembled, shrinking his neck back. He still didn’t dare to make a sound.
Clan Leader Jin Cang had warned him that to stay in the Golden Lion Tribe, he must forget his past and not let Bai Wanwan know he was here.
He didn’t know who the male before him was, but he instinctively felt that this visit would bring nothing but trouble.
"I... I really don’t know what you’re talking about."
"Don’t know?" Jin Yi chuckled softly. "If you don’t, perhaps a trip outside the city walls will help you remember."
The Cat Clan Beastman’s expression changed dramatically. The recent Beast Tide had been a traumatic shock.
If not for the many powerful males in the Golden Lion Tribe, the city walls would have been breached and the tribe would have fallen long ago.
The Beastmen of the tribe would have all been devoured by those frenzied beasts.
Even so, the Golden Lion Clan had still suffered heavy losses. He’d heard that to resist the Beast Tide, the Golden Lion Tribe had already lost one Yellow Rank Male, three Green Rank males, and over twenty Azure Rank males.
If this had been a small or medium-sized tribe, they would have been completely wiped out long ago.
Jin Yi saw his eyes darting around, but he remained silent. He narrowed his eyes and directly ordered the Beastmen beside him, "Throw him out of the city!"
He finished speaking and immediately turned to leave.
The Cat Clan Beastman was hauled up by two Golden Lion Beastmen, and he shouted in a panic, "You can’t throw me out! The Clan Leader promised me I could live safely in the Golden Lion Tribe."
Jin Yi turned back around. "If you don’t talk, by the time the Clan Leader notices you’re gone, you’ll have already been devoured by wild beasts."
Jin Yi said no more. The two Golden Lion Beastmen started hauling the Cat Clan Beastman toward the city gate.
Seeing that they were actually going to do it, the terrified Cat Clan Beastman yelled, "I’ll talk! I’ll tell you everything!"
The two Golden Lion Beastmen holding him turned to look at Jin Yi.
Jin Yi stood with his hands behind his back and nodded slightly. Only then did they haul the Cat Clan Beastman back in front of him.
"Well?"
The Cat Clan Beastman glanced at the two males beside him, then said in a low voice, "I can talk, but I can only tell you."
He had promised the Clan Leader not to reveal that Bai Wanwan was a Holy Female. But he had no other choice now; the best he could do was ensure as few Beastmen as possible learned of her identity.
Jin Yi nodded, and the two males standing beside the Cat Clan Beastman immediately moved a good distance away.
Jin Yi shifted his gaze back, his eyes landing calmly on the Cat Clan Beastman. "Stop stalling. My patience is limited."
"I... I’ll talk."
After stammering for a moment, the Cat Clan Beastman finally steeled himself.
"Bai Wanwan... she’s... she’s a Holy Female."
Jin Yi’s calm expression faltered, his pupils suddenly contracting. He thought he must have misheard.
"What did you say?"
"Bai Wanwan is a Holy Female, I’m not lying to you." The Cat Clan Beastman’s voice trembled. "I... I’m a Beastman from the same tribe as her."
Jin Yi’s expression flickered. "How many Beastmen know about this?"
"I... I don’t know. Everyone in our tribe knew, but Wandering Beasts attacked us. They killed almost all my people. I have no idea where any other survivors might be."
’No wonder...’
Jin Yi thought of his father’s attitude toward Bai Wanwan.
As soon as Bai Wanwan arrived at the Golden Lion Tribe, she moved into that stone house.
Later, his father became even more accommodating, granting her every request.
’So... his father knew all along that Bai Wanwan was a Holy Female.’
His eyes flashed with a chilling light as he warned the cat, "Aside from myself and the Clan Leader, you are not to tell another soul. If I find out you’ve told anyone else that Bai Wanwan is a Holy Female, you’ll be nothing but beast food."
"Yes, I swear I won’t tell another Beastman."
The Cat Clan Beastman was trembling with fear. He didn’t let out a long sigh of relief until after Jin Yi had turned and walked away.
As Jin Yi left, he turned his head to order a nearby female, "Keep an eye on him. If he gets close to anyone, tell me at once."
Although the threat on his life should make the Cat Clan Beastman think twice, Jin Yi still wasn’t convinced.
A Holy Female, who according to legend could bear the strongest offspring, was a rare sight on the entire Beastman Continent.
Their Golden Lion Clan had once had a Holy Female, which laid the foundation for their clan’s glory.
If Bai Wanwan was truly a Holy Female, she would definitely attract the covetous eyes of other tribes.
If her identity were to get out, it would bring trouble for the Golden Lion Tribe.
As he was deep in thought, his path was suddenly blocked by several males.
Jin Yi looked at Jin Yue standing in front of him. "What is it?"
Jin Yue stood respectfully, his head bowed slightly. "Young Clan Leader, the Clan Leader asks to see you."
After only a moment’s hesitation, Jin Yi turned and strode past him.
Jin Yi stepped into the stone house, where flickering firelight made shadows dance.
Jin Cang was standing at the window with his back to him. Without turning his head, he spoke: "You went to see that Cat Clan Beastman?"
Jin Yi stepped forward, not denying it. "I did."
Jin Cang turned, his wise gaze falling upon him. "So you know Bai Wanwan’s identity?"
Jin Yi’s expression did not change. He spoke calmly, "I know."
Jin Cang carefully studied his expression for a long time, then sighed.
"Then you should understand my difficult position now... Mating with her is the best choice, both for you and for the tribe."
Jin Yi remained silent, but his handsome brows gradually knitted together. "Father, I will not mate with her."
"Why? What kind of female do you want?"
Jin Cang’s voice grew grave. "Bai Wanwan is beautiful and good-natured, not to mention a Holy Female, a chance that comes once in a lifetime. If you let her go, where will you ever find a better mate?"
Jin Yi looked up, his tone cold. "She is a Holy Female, but that has nothing to do with me."
Jin Cang stared at him, then suddenly sighed. "Are you still upset about your mother?"
Jin Yi’s jaw tightened, and he didn’t answer.
Jin Cang took a step closer, his gaze softening. "What happened between your mother and me... I accepted it willingly. But I can tell Bai Wanwan is different from other females. She is sincere with each of her Beast Husbands. If you become one of them, she will treat you with all her heart."
Jin Yi looked his father straight in the eye. "Are you asking me to gamble on winning her heart? I... don’t want to take that bet."
He refused to be like his father, forever gazing at his mother’s back in solitude, watching her dote on other males while he withered away in sorrow.
His future mate didn’t need to have outstanding fertility. As long as she only had eyes for him and they could depend on each other, that would be enough.
Jin Cang was stunned for a moment, and finally fell silent.
"If there’s nothing else, Father, I’ll be leaving."
"Yes, go on back. You’re still injured, so take care of yourself."
Jin Yi grunted in acknowledgment, turned, and strode away.
Watching his departing back, Jin Cang turned his head to look at the old Beastman beside him. "Uncle Witch, Jin Yi is my only offspring, but now he is so unwilling to mate. What do you think I should do?"
Jin Cang had a headache. Jin Yi had already passed the optimal age for mating. If he weren’t the Young Clan Leader, females with excellent fertility wouldn’t prioritize him.
But he didn’t want to force Jin Yi. His own past was his choice to bear, but he truly didn’t want his son to end up with a female who didn’t love him. He had experienced that pain himself; he didn’t want Jin Yi to suffer the same way.
"Clan Leader, you need not worry. In my opinion, it’s not that the Young Clan Leader is entirely unmoved."
Jin Cang’s head snapped around to look at Jin Wu. "What did you say?"
