Chapter 105: Gene Absorption Activates, Abusing The Power of Gates!

Riven’s plan was quite simple; he was going to abuse the power of being a Gate Lord and completely siphon the two factories inside of the Dungeon.

It was a ridiculous plan, and even Label thought it might be impossible to pull but Riven gave her a reassuring smile.

"It’s fine," he said calmly. "I took that entire house with me before. I can do the same with that factory. It might come down and explode into pieces in the process... it doesn’t matter." He shrugged without concern. "As long as they disappear quickly from this world, they won’t be able to alert anyone else."

"Right! And if they enter the gate, they will be completely isolated from the outside world..." Label laughed with clear delight. "Heheh... Riven! Your power is amazing... there’s so many things we can do with them... H-Heinous things... uhuh..." She giggled in that creepy way that always made his skin crawl a little.

"Y-Yeah..." Riven sighed, still feeling slightly nervous whenever he heard her strange laughter. "Anyway, time is of the essence. Let’s move."

Riven, Label, and Noir quickly took their cars. They also stole the vehicle the three Yakuza had arrived in and drove toward the location Label had specified.

As they traveled, Riven suddenly felt a weird sensation inside his body, right beneath his skin. It was as if his flesh was bubbling and shifting in a strange way.

"What is this?"

While he wondered about the foreign substances moving through him — substances that were clearly not poison — a new notification appeared by his left side.

[The Class Skill: [Gene Absorption – Level 1] has activated successfully.]

[You have absorbed the [Noble Giant Lineage] Super Rare Gene.]

[You have absorbed the [Red Tengu] Rare Gene.]

[You have absorbed the [Kappa] Common Gene.]

[Genes are divided into four rarities: Ultra Rare, Super Rare, Rare, and Common. The higher their rarity, the stronger and more powerful they can be cultivated.]

[Do you wish to automatically absorb and cultivate all three genes into your main Titan Physique?]

It looked like his new Class Skill had finally started working, he had managed to absorb all three genes from the monsters he just consumed, from the Red Tengu, the Kappa (who shared the same between the two) and the Giant King.

"So this is new... it’s from that skill," he thought, narrowing his eyes.

He really wanted to check this and see what they could do and how it all worked, but he was in the middle of driving, so he decided to leave this for later.

"I’ll think about it later."

He waved his hand and dismissed the glowing images. A short while later Riven parked his car a few streets away from the destination. To make sure it would not be stolen, he stored the vehicle inside his storage ring for safety.

With Noir’s help, the three of them moved silently through the shadows until they arrived at their target. It was an abandoned toothpaste factory. Most of the old equipment was still in working condition. Using his Abyssal Shift together with Noir’s Shadow Movement, Riven was able to scout the interior and discover several important details.

There were roughly thirty people held captive inside. They were being forced against their will to produce highly addictive mana concoctions and illegal drugs. Riven already knew that these gangs freely practiced human trafficking. Weak, low-ranked hunters who possessed useful production-type skills were always their favorite targets.

Besides the captives, there were twelve gang members. Two of them seemed noticeably stronger than the rest and exuded auras roughly at D Rank. The others were only weak combat-class awakeners who could pose a threat mainly to unawakened civilians.

Outside the factory, three additional guards stood watch. Their ranks ranged from F to E.

"Do you think you can do it?" Label asked quietly.

"I believe so, but those three outside could still escape once they notice something is happening..." Riven replied. "Boy, can you catch them alive?"

"Worf!"

Noir barked once in silence and then vanished into the darkness. The three Yakuza were smoking and laughing at something on their phones when a mass of pure shadow appeared behind them.

"Huh...?"

FLUOSH!

The three men disappeared completely without a sound.

It would not be nearly as easy to handle the people inside the factory. There were far more of them, and several of the Yakuza had already injected the Yokai Serum that could temporarily raise their rank by one level. Noir would eventually be overwhelmed by magic or spiritual attacks — his two major weaknesses — and Riven would be forced to step in. That would only create more chaos and give the gang members a chance to call their boss or alert the other branches.

Once the outside guards were dealt with, Riven carefully froze both main doors from the outside.

"Let’s do it."

TRUUUM!

A tear between dimensions suddenly opened with a loud, brief roar.

Inside the factory the people panicked. Potions and drugs fell to the ground one after another.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing?!"

"You dropped it?!"

"Stupid fuckass!"

The gang members furiously began beating the captives, completely ignoring the strange sound until it was already too late.

"...What is that?!"

The man in charge finally looked up and screamed when he saw a massive gate forming outside the high windows.

"A Gate Break! Outside! Run!"

He was among the first to stand and sprint for the exit as if his life depended on it — because it did.

The moment he kicked the door open, however, his leg nearly broke from the impact.

"Agh! W-What is...?! What’s going on?!"

His eyes widened in pure horror as he felt how incredibly cold the metal had become. Thick ice was already surging up from the ground outside.

"Ice...?! Shit! We’ve been set up!"

Before he could do anything else, the entire factory exploded outward and was torn to pieces. Everyone inside was violently sucked into the newly formed gate with no possible way to escape.

FLUOSH!

"It’s done. Let’s escape!"
